  1. Hi dan im sure there are a few species..... but the species that i have fished for and that have responded well..... in the night time being...snapper, jewfish, trag, and surprise for me but at the time were kingfish.... ...the area were the kingies were responsive was at that reef in close straight out in front of the lighthouse at barrenjoey...(familiar with it ????) call it spot x and they bit for hours after dark.......... Cheers Warnie.........
  2. i would rate A & C with equal of importance and term them as both being an invalueable item...... B... important in my case for you can not physicaly get in or out of the boat without one otherwise...... so for me all 3 are up there in any order......... Cheers Warnie.........
  3. pity about that weather daniel saturday was certainally the better day any way here is a pic of a gemmie and a blueye caught at the mountain that day the pic is of my mate taken back at the ramp both fish are destined for the dinner table yum..yum... hope i have finally worked out posting pics and if so thanks to you and especially johnno for his patience and advice....... Cheers Warnie
  4. Tell me about it daniel i donated 5 nice cod to them just under the boat today....there are quite a few around and it becomes a race so to speak in between who can get to the fish first.....im haveing trouble with the programme on the computer after when i load it from the camera will have to get some one to look at it................. Good luck for tomorrow i await your report Cheers Warnie.......
  5. Daniel..... le Pasha Did not fish for Y/fin today........ just concentrated on the mountain.......... heard and seen a few boats around me hook upto y/fin the bite seemed to be after 1.00pm .... they were all saying around that 30kg mark with livies in the trail sounding like it was getting the better of the results............. so they are there................good luck for tomorrow.............. The mountain was hot to trot today...... so if things dont go to plan with the y/fin....dropping the mountain will definently get a result.......... i'll try and post some pic's if i can work out how to do it........ Cheers Warnie.........
  6. Looks like i will be bashing brown's tomorrow ....... any one else thinking of sticking there nose outside....... Daniel...Le Pasha or netic are you thinking about tomorrow as well ??????......or sunday Warnie....
  7. Hi Frank Just for an idea......... in my case i wanted a lock and key on mine we had one of the kids unuesed wardrobe handy .....i simply screwed 3x2 on the bottom at the rear with just enough room for the the required width of the reel and the butt's to tuck behind.......another length of 3x2 screwed about a 1.2 hight.... i then screwed them plastic c clips to the timber spaced to suit game rods and reels the rod then just pushes in and locks in place....although to get more to fit i had turn the rod's and reel's side on.... this allowed me to space them about 120mm apart if i remember rightly.........And get 14 standing up safely and also lockable if required....... oh yea !!!!!!!!!!!! let me say in my regard i then got photo shots of them being present as such for documentation to give to the insurance company in the event they were ever to go walk abouts............ hope that makes sense to you.......................... Cheers Warnie................
  8. Squid boy.......... What heath said is quite right.............and in time i guess you will get used to the idea ........you say live bait tank... so free standing i presume??????? not built in..... have you a deck wash fitted on board you could utilise ????????........and are you intending to fit a sounder by chance as that will most likely involve an attachment of a bracket of some sorts for the transducer ......... a bracket with pick up for the pump will only have 4 little holes (you will hardly see them )and the best option ..........and are easy to seal............ if its an aluminium hull.........then just weld a bracket on........ you can get s/steel pickups to the height were you go through the transom these days to use instead of hose which is a functionable and tidy option................nothing wrong with the 750gph pump but that 1100 gph is so much better again.............. Cheers Warnie
  9. Fishlexic confurgence of differant bodies of water, Current lines, upwelling's and eddies from under water structure like brown's mountain and sea mounts....... temperature break's as you say...... but most likely these can be closer to a 1 degree change bait evident on sounder on surface or down deep..........look for all signs of the puzzle........ They can and do play there part... even when you'd swear everything looks right it still doesn't assure a result.......one thing is for sure !!!!!!!!! they are very hard to catch when they are not there.......... so up to date chit chat and reports on here off other fishraider's where there are getting caught....... or going out and seeing other boat's hooked up........ sure can take a lot of the guess work out of the puzzle........ im sure everyone thought's differ.......... just thought mine may help you............ Cheers Warnie
  10. Hi pel Im with you on seabreeze and i feel that bom over states theirs so i try and settle some were in between....... the confusion exists though when they both contradict each other...... with actual wind speed strength it can quite often seem at times to be a lucky dip.......seabreeze gives the time of next update at the very bottom of the wind @wave graph when displayed................. Cheers Warnie
  11. Hey frankp just got of the bom weather that half good weather.......... doesn't really look like being all that invitingly good at the shelf and beyond tommorrow chasing y/fin.............. they saying 30knts easing back to 20 or so ...............have a look at tommorrow morning's update sticking in close might be the better choice.......... don't ya hate the wind..................... Cheers Warnie
  12. Ray R Don't know if this will helpfull to you or not.... but year's gonebye i used to fish a section of that reef in particular a pinnicle on the very extreme south western corner of the reef of which the top comes up to 116 ft (sorry about the feet) and in particular if co-incided with a runout from the river and all the better if there was fresh in the river.....jackpot... it was still very productive allround all the same.... so if by chance you come across what i'm talking about stick close and hopefully all will come together.............Finger's crossed for you.... Cheers Warnie
  13. Ha Ha oz ..............well this is it's partner After 15 years of Marriage ________________________________________ A husband and wife came for counseling after 15 years of marriage. When asked what the problem was, the wife went into a passionate, painful tirade listing every problem they had ever had in the 15 years they had been married. She went on and on and on: neglect, lack of intimacy, emptiness, loneliness, feeling unloved and unlovable, an entire laundry list of un-met needs she had endured over the course of their marriage. Finally, after allowing this to go on for a sufficient length of time, the therapist got up, walked around the desk and, after asking the wife to stand, embraced and kissed her passionately. The woman shut up and quietly sat down as though in a daze. The therapist turned to the husband and said, "This is what your wife needs at least three times a week. Can you do this?" The husband thought for a moment and replied, "Well, I can drop her off here on Mondays and Wednesdays, but on Fridays, I fish." __________________ Cheers Warnie
  14. Don't you hate that..............knock em out..........wind em......... then they tease you........oh yes....... he's smart that is how he got to be that size............it wasn't the gaff he had body armour....... never mind that's part of the game........ Cheer's Warnie...........
  15. Did you notice if automatic 10 million public liability comes with it (compulsery for my club) like nrma offer and if can you add theft to your item's in lock up cabin... just wondering if that made up that $80 differance or not......... Cheers Warnie
  16. [ By the way how do you salt your pillies ? Let them thaw out from the freezer ? Put how much salt on them ? Refreeze ?? Stylo....... i personally find the best way to salt pillies is to do them in a salt brine.......... about 2kg of table salt (cheap as) mixed with a couple of litres of water throw your pillies in all in a container put this in the fridge overnight (or longer) you will find this will draw the moisture out and toughen them up no end.... but at the same time retain's the look and is still inviting to the fish as opposed to adding salt directly to the pillie and it shrivelling up like a prune..........that's one method i'm sure there is more Cheer's Warnie
  17. Fishlexic looks like you've got yourself some nice fish cakes there boy's...............well done it seem's sammy loves them as well..... Cheers Warnie

Stu here is a recent pic from last thursday of me holding a gemmie big by no means at around 7kg.....quite a few bigger also that day but when say 3 or 4 jump on..... all at once it adds to a lot of strain even more so for the cod that are generally targeted ............ the biggest cod that day went ...24 some thing kg so as not to be........ like popeye one handed..... it pays to have a comfy set up...... Cheers Warnie........

Good advice there C.F.D that certainaly would be a cheaper option bashing browns can have its rewards.........but cheeze....who needs the gym it can be a good work out at best.......... Cheers Warnie

    Deep Sea

Stu okay.!!!!!!!!!.........no i think that is not advisable and give it a miss....... besides the line capacity doubts and along with the potential..... with what you can hook up to fishing there the stress on the boom..... and handle....most likely would result in obliteration to one or both...........would recommend getting your brownie points up and talking to the missus......and go for a deck winch or equivalent............ ps.... incidently some of my mates are having good results using a stella outfit with 80lb braid and lighter weights but that is not a cheap option either......... if i can work out how to arrange to send pics i could send you some photos of fish caught from the mountain that would sway your way of thinking......... Cheers Warnie.

Stu I would imagine the line capcity would fall short .....Most fishing there use the deck winches and a few use a rod and game reel loaded with braid But rod and reel is hard yacka (unless electric of course).......The depth from top of mtn is 1,230 odd feet down to 1,600 and deeper off the platue......... The thing is......... we generally double that quantity so in the event you snag up and safegaurds in place dont work and you loose a full drop of line you still have enough to drop again and continue fishing..... sorry about depth in feet........ habit for me there....... also am not familiar with the actual 1085 .30 (is it plastic?) but know the pressure from the line on the spool particularly when under load can be tremendous i have seen it warp the spool on a game reel hope that info is helpfull............... Cheers Warnie
  22. Hi Ray R By your description your approaching very close to Boultans reef they is also scattered and broken patches of reef 1 -2 klm's inside boultans have you the co-ordinates Ray R so i could 100% confirm Cheers Warnie................. ps..... boultans is a fair size reef

  24. Hi all Caught up with an old mate today and recounted old yarns and stories of our rock and beach fishing day's in particular......... Garie Am interested to know do any of you fish this area.......... of interest the northern rock ledge of the beach and the one up further that we used to refer to as the .......deck... it used to fish extremely well for salmon, tailor, bream.kingfish etc and we also obtained our fair share of good snapper................ back in those days there was no boom gate so we could come and go 24/7 and also stay late at night in summer etc................. Not with standing the safety aspect for care had to be shown with this area........but it was as good as it got and was wondering if that is still so....... or as it suffered to the ravages of time......... Wondering......Warnie
  25. Certainaly not a fish............although the intent was there............ Fishing for jewies off the breakwall at s.w.rocks i came up tight and pulled in a wallet..... neatly hooked in the corner............... my first thoughts were ....what did i originally snag up to......... i reported and handed it in to the local police station and was informed next day that a volunteer helping in the stranded melon head whales on the beach at that time had lost it in the ocean................ that would have to be a million to 1 would it not............. so to who ever it was who lost it .......you now know who found it....... i will go you half's in a lottery ticket... Cheers Warnie
