  1. I am not looking at starting a fight in regards to which is the best brand of outboard but I would like to receive some feedback on people's opinion. I am looking at purchasing a new 115HP outboard to put on my Haines Hunter 520SF. I am tossing up between the Yamaha and Evinrude E-Tec. I am leaning towards a 2 stroke due to sometimes using the boat to tow water skiers, etc. I would be grateful if some of you Fishraider could give me your opinions in regards to each of these motors.

    What Is It

It looks like the fish I catch most times when I go fishing.
  3. Cool picture. The powerlines finish on that pole. It is called a termination pole.
  4. If I had that at my place of work I do not think I would get anything done, but then again would anyone notice.

    Problem With Trim Unit

Thank you all for the help and advice. I am going to replace the relay and I have noticed a corroded connection near the relays so I will clean that up as well. Hopefully it will solve the problem.
  6. I am hoping that someone will be able to help me out with a problem I am experiencing with the trim rams on my 115HP evinrude. The problem I have encountered a couple of times is that the trim will raise but does not lower. It appears that when I operate the trim button to lower the motor no power is going to the unit as none of my guages move like there is power being delivered to the unit. This happened while I was out last Saturday but after running the boat with the trim out for about 30 minutes all of a suddenly the unit became good and operated perfectly and is still working. I am pretty sure that it is an electrical problem. Does any one have any idea of where I should start to look for the problem or will it be a matter of just going over the complete electrics and hoping I find something. Any help, as always, would be greatly appreciated. Bruce ENS 1639
  7. Hi all, I am hoping someone will be able to help me out. I hava a fibreglass boat fitted with a 27mhz radio and a humming bird wide screen fish finder. The problem I am plagued with is that the fish finder interferes with the radio stopping me from having both on at the same time. Sometimes turning the squlech all the way up stops the problems but also stops me receiveing all but the very strongest radio signals. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Bruce ENS 1639
  8. Another good place to look at is Batemans Bay. If you like river fishing there is a nice caravan park at Nelligen. Has its own ramp. Nice spot.
  9. Fishraiders, I am sure that some of you will be able to help me. I have recently purchased a boat and taking it on holidays to the beautiful south coast. I will be launching it at the Kiola boat ramp with the occassional trip to Ulladulla and Batemans Bay. As I have not had a boat out in these areas before can anyone give me some ideas for fishing spots that I should try. To all have a happy and safe Christmas. Bruce

    Fuel Vapour Problems

Thanks Billfisher. You were right there was fuel in the back of the boat. Now all I have to do is find the exact location it is coming from. I wiil seal around the fuel breather lines. I have checked the fuel sender it has a lot of muck around it but I do not think it is leaking but I try and put a new seal on it just to make sure. Again thank you very much it was appreciated.
  11. Hi all. I am hoping that some one will be able to help me. I have recently purchased a Haines Hunter 520SF. It has a 120 litre under floor fuel tank and a second 75 litre tank. The original tank breathers on the boat where plastic and starting to deteriorate so I replaced them with chromed brass straight through types. I took the boat out today, which is the first time that I have had the main tank full of fuel, and I just about made everyone on board sick because of the fuel vapour smell at the back of the boat. Have I done something wrong or should there be something else in the fuel breather line as well as the breathers to help prevent this. Any help would be greatly appreciated as it is hard to have fun in a boat when the vapours make everyone on board feel sick especially the skipper. Bruce
  12. All going well and the weather holds out I will be taking my family and doing a spot of fishing somewhere off Wollongong. Does ayone know of some spots down there where I should try?
  13. Worrying about the big kings I would be happy to just find and catch the smaller ones and throw them back. 1 king other 65 for a season would keep me happy.
  14. Not sure at the present. Trying to decide if it will be worth while trying to put the boat in at Port Kembla. Not sure about the weather.
