    Camden Info

HI Raiders, I am working in Camden tomorrow afternoon and will (as always) be taking a rod with me. I am just wondering if anyine has info on somewhere to fish around there. I have been told of some pretty good bass fishing but haven't fished there before. The map looks good but not sure where I can actually access the water. Any info at all is very much apreciated. Thanks, Mitch
  2. I will be there one way or another. Looking at buying a Kayak soon, so will hopefully get one before the comps. Looking at the Hobie outback, have been looking at them for a while and they look the goods. Will try and find a second hand one as there pretty exxy. Mitch
  3. Your not alone, it happens to all of us. I actually got rod rage a little while ago and threw one of my rigs on the deck and it bounced over board with a new Certate 2000 attatched. When I realised that a nearly 1500 buck rig was sinking I figured I better get it back. Sent the reel off to Daiwa, quick turnaround and its as good as new. I have also accidently dropped or knocked rigs into the water and have done the same thing.. If you know the workings of the reel well you could do it yourself but I would still definatly recommending sending it off for a full service Mitch
  4. The length of my leaders will generally depend on the area I am fishing. As a general rule I like to use a leader that is approx. the length of my rod. Most of my rods are 7'and 6'7. If fishing Racks, I will bring the leader down to about 3'. If chasing Bream on the surface I will leave a nice 7' leader or so, but If chasing whiting on the surface I will bring it down to about 3'. Clear Flats, I will go longer on the leader 8 - 10', when dirty I will go back to around 7'. Deepwater, I find a rod length to be fine. Heavy structure with poorer water clarity you can afford to shorten the leader up. This is mainly for my breaming etc, With chasing Natives, I will generally use a similar style of leader length depending on the terrain. For breaming etc, I willl generally use 2 - 8lb mainline and 4-10lb leader. For natives on baitcasters I will use from 10 - 20lb mainline and 12 - 30lb leader. For my leader knot I like to use the improved albright. Although when tying the much heavier lines the knots can become rather tricky Mitch
  5. G'day Raiders, Just thought I would let you all know that the ABT is running a Kayak bream tournament in 2009. This might be your time to shine Roberta. So whos in? I don't own a yak as yet but I will be borrowing one to enter. 2009 Hobie BREAM Kayak Events Announced As you may have read in the advertisements in Fishing Monthly Magazines, ABT and Hobie Australasia have teamed up to create the inaugural BREAM Kayak events. The series is compact in 2009 to fit into a timeframe which allows us to conduct the Hobie BREAM Kayak Grand Final in Forster at the end of March in conjunction with the Forster Family Fishing Carnival. The Grand Final is unique in that there is no entry fee and all competitors fish out of identical Hobie Kayaks that are supplied for you! Qualification process is outlined in the rules. Kayak events are all enter-on-the-day, however, you can streamline the process by downloading an entry form and bringing it along with you. DATES 17 January 2009 Sydney Kayak Tournament (Bayview Park, Parramatta River) 22 February 2009 Sunshine Coast Kayak Tournament (Mooloolah River) 15 March 2009 Gold Coast Kayak Tournament (Budds Beach, Nerang River) 21-22 March 2009 Forster Kayak Tournament (Forster, NSW) 24-25 March 2009 Hobie Kayak Grand Final (Forster, NSW)

  8. Billy (1975) and I hit the parra monday arvo for a couple of hours before the sun went down to chase a few bream. After a beautiful sunny day we got on the water and were greeted with white caps and howling winds, oh well. Hit some flats which were a bit quite except for a table size flattie for Billy. The wind died down so we decided to hit some old spots that I haven't hit for a few years. Things started to liven up a bit and we started to pul a few bream. Moved spots a couple of times and ended up putting together a reasonalble bag of bream. Hit the usual flatss, pontoons and boats. Off t he water as the sun dropped. All in all a pretty productive arvo. Thanks Billy, looking forward to the next trip Mitch
  9. Dedcided to hit the upper hawkesbury for a quick hour today to chase some bass around my favourite snags. With the sun high and some nice wind surface lures sounded out of the question, BUT... that's all I through. All up ended up with 7 between 30-40cm and a couple of rats. Very happy with the fishing considering it was a very short session. Lure of choice was the ever faithful Kokoda Bat. With the sun up it was just a matter of casting tight under the trees and slow rolling it across the surface. The surface strikes were forceful and nerly everytime right on the edge of the trees where the weedbeds start. Might try and get back out this weeked and take a camera this time Mitch
  10. OUch, Ive seen it happen once before down at davidson park in middle harbour, similar story, guy got out of the car and off she went Mitch
  11. Damn I can't beat it, yep keeps turning the other way. lol hahahaha Mitch
  12. Nice work, the water looks good in the background, its funny how the right lure choice can make a big difference with the catch rate. Great work Mitch
  13. Great Bass mate, that's a top catch, hope you keep on gettin 'em Mitch

    One Lucky Fella

Well I guess this is a bit of a shout out to the missus. I sent her an email from work on friday half heartedly asking her to dusk to the tackle shop after work to grab me some surface lures as ive lost a few over the ;ast fortnight. Well I got no reply as was expected I ended up walking throught the door around 8 and the missus not too far behind with a plastic bag....well did my eyes light up. I though you gotta be kidding she has really gone to the shop to bye me some tackle. So i did what every fishing addict would and grabbed for the bag. She said it'd cost me a coffe and a smoke, well who was I to argue. The bag was handed over. Insinde 3 Stiffy Poppers 3 Lucky craft Bevvy poppers 5 Kokoda Bats 2 packs of TT jig Spins 5 Packs of jigheads 6 assorted packs of plastics Well aint I a lucky little bugger Man I love the fact that the missus loves fishing
  15. If I could only have one it would be a Purple Spinner bait For sure, If I could have a small selection I would add a beetle spin, Taylor made suface walker, Stiffy popper, TN50, Off green Spinnerbaits, Cultiva mirrashad, and a MR Griffon Hope you enjoy yourself up there Slinky. I am hoping to be up that way some time early in the year and plan on heading into catch up With Stu McPherson, we should try and organise to head out and see what this QLD fishing is all about.. Non Biased Views

For the dollars and the size you are after. I would prob also go for the Stradic, either a second hand or a new one. they are good reliable reels. This is not a bias opinion as I am a Daiwa user but have a 2500 Stradic for pretty much the same purpose as you are going to use it for. Smooth reliable and a good warranty. Good luck Mitch
  17. hahahahahaha thats a good one Mitch

    Back In Sa

Well I got another work call lat night saying they needed me to fly down to Adelaide early this morning, so Im back here again and yep only for the day, although it looks like they may need me tomorrow as well which will mean I may have to fly back to Sydney tonight for work and home stuff and then head back tomorrow. Maybe one day I will be able to get some time to have a fish in this place. Mitch
  19. great reprt and some absoloutly awesome photos as well Mitch
  20. Yes we have a tackle problem, maybe a new thread " Tackle addicts rehab" would be suitable Im to lazy but have 3x 20L Tub chockers as well as 6 plano boxes and 5 tackle wraps full of placcies, mainly all breamin plastics with the usual jew / flatty collection in there too.. I think i would be a good candidate for tackle addicts anonymus , glad You only posted a tad of yours Greg as I feel you would have a lot more than me Mitch
  21. Nice work Plastic man, nice flatty you got there. There are a couple of good spots in the lagoon where you can chase EP's succesfully. there are also a couple of spots where the jews get when it opens up. I have seen a few come out of the lake but no size. I am actually trying to figure a way that I can finish work around that part of Sydney in the afternoon so I can get there for a flick. I hope you keep gettin 'em Mitch
  22. Good work to the Ice Clan. Are you fishing it next sunday Andrew? Im still ot too sure weather to go there or not...too much fresh?? Great stuff to Icegirl on her fish Mitch
