    Phantom Of The Opera

G;day Stewy, HAve to agree. The missus and myself went to the show on Friday night. Now this is something that I definatly wouldn't normally be interested in but it was just magnificant, id even go back and see it again Mitch
  2. Nice work greg, Good to see your still nailing them in the river mate, I have taken a week off in 2 weeks so if your out there i might see you on the water Mitch
  3. G'day again, Im heading down for a land based flick this arvo. I was going to stop over at berowra on the bank opposite the boat ramp or hit thw parra somewhere. Not 100% sure. Anyone got any spots for a land based session?? Mitch
  4. There are some productive spots in the Hawkesbury for Muddies, Berowra, Spenser area. If your ever a bit further up north, we have been getting a fair few muddies in Lake mac of late. There are alway heaps of blue swimmers thee but the mud crabs seem to be making a come back. A surprising catch was one well on its way to 2kg caught on a jerk bait a couple of weeks ago by a mate of mine on one of our night flicks for jew and bream Mitch
  5. Sorry Mate, I was planning on heading out around about 0600 - 0700 but as of about 5 minutes ago it looks like that terrible "work" place has me booked up. Off to newy tomorrow, if i do end up back before friday i will still head out and post it up Mitch
  6. Great stuff Dave, I was wondering whether you ended up hitting Berowra or not. Good to see you got into some quality fish and an EP to boot. Quantity is always great fun but at the end of the day quality fiah is what your there to chase. Seeya on the water Mitch
  7. Nice work Roberta you seem to be getting into a few fish up there. You live in a beautiful part of the east coast at forster. I have only ventured there a handful of times but enjoyed every one of them. Mitch
  8. G'day Raiders, I usually do about 90% of my breaming solo but company on board is always good. I'm looking at heading out Friday at this stage (90% sure). More than likely will hit middle harbour (or possibly berowra). Just the usual breaming with a flick for jew as well. If anybody has the day off and is keen for an early / cold start let me know. Will be fishing out of 4.5 custom bass boat. Mitch
  9. Nice bream there soft on. looks like you have the dark hours beaming sorted. Good work Mitch
  10. Nice, gotta love those moments when you yell randomly to the sky and pump the fist, good work. I remember someone on this site quite a while ago got one at rushcutters bay i think. Middle harbour and the upper reaches of the parra definatly produce there fair share at the right time. I'm guessing you'll be heading back to spot EP again for another crack. Hope you get some more. There probably my fave fish to target in the spring months and at any other time a very very welcome bycatch. On the Northern beaches area you can definatly get them in Narra Lake. I used to get quite a few in manly lagoon also. Haven't lived there for a few years now so not sure what its like, but if the water levels are all good im sure theyll still be in there somewher Looking forward to further reports Mitch
  11. Great Harbour EP there. bet it was a surprise to see it as you brought it to the surface. Congrats Slinky, I'm only about 15 minutes from Kellyville, EP's have been a regular bycatch of late whilst chasing bream, let me know when your heading out and ill see if i can put you onto a couple Mitch
  12. nfortunatly these ones aren't biodegradable plastics Mitch
  13. G'day Flatty Hunter, There are a few that claim to be biodegradable soft plastic lures. off the top of my head i can only think of a couple Gulp! (which you have stated) Eco-Products eye ball tails The new range of Atomic plastics are biodegradable (and catch there fair share) next one eyeball tails were also bio I believe. also I think "food source" plastics are also bio. If i get a chance ill grab a box of my alternative plastics and have a look to see if any others Mitch
  14. Unlucky mate, im sure one will jump on the end of your line soon enough Mitch
  15. Very nice Blackfish from the lake. i used to live near there and would regularly catch them as bycatch while chasing bream and EP's on placcies.....not as big as that one though thats a cracker

    Sydney Sambos

new game plan, Sambos session tommorow followed by a rack attack on Sunday. Bit of rain should be good hopefully a few jews might get targeted on the sunday change of tide Mitch
  17. Nice work Hodgy, That place looks strikingly farmiliar to a little place I used to fish when I lived down at Narooma. Beautiful part of the world there. Nice work on another good fish, always a bugger when you have no net and a bit of distance to somehow land a fish to the bank Mitch

    Sydney Sambos

Thanks guys, Might plot around chasin bream and stick my head out to see if there is any action around. Not sure weather Harbour or Pitty yet. Slinky, I was thinking when you wrote your first response that I might need to get the micro minnows out. I also got my hands on a japanese made minnow plastic that is about 1 -1 1/2" long. clear and pearl colours. I purely bought them for those finicky sambos. might have to take them out and see what they can produce. THe only problem is going to be getting a jighead to match.... maybe a hidden weight, the sinking braid will be able to fire them out there Mitch
  19. G'day Raiders, Just wondering if there has been many reports of salmon action around sydney as yet?? Looking at heading out and getting into them this weekend . Any info much apreciated Mitch
  20. No Probs mate, always happy to help Mitch
  21. Good to hear, I am associated with Platypus and have only just read this post. I am sure the company will be more than accomodating to your situation and am glad to hear you will continue to use the line. Mitch
  22. Your Tackle should be fine. Of late I have been targeting Jew around middle Harbour a bit with average to good results. I mainly use a 7' 2-5 or 3-6kg spin rod matched with Daiwa certate 2000 or Quantum Tour edition reels. 6-8lb Platypus sinking Braid with 10-15lb leader. The most succesful lures lately have been 5" Jerk baits in Sardine as well as Squidgy fish in Silver fox. As for Hard bodies 100mm Daiwa (??hyper minnow??) have also claimed a few. The retrieve has been varied depending on the direct area I am targeting. If I have been fishing around boulders in the deeper water I have been using a very aggresive whipping technique, allowing the lure to swim back to the bottom sitting for about 5 seconds and aggresivly whipping again. This is a technique I usually associate with summer time jewies but with the bait fish action of late it has worked wonders. With targeting middle harbour jew around bridges I have found that the fish pattern with a stron g pulsating tail action works best. Not over agressive on the retrieve. A simple lift drop keeping in close contact with the bottom but also keeping in mind of the depth you are fishing as this can hamper the lures action meaning you may need to put a bit more grunt into you lift to have that tail really working. I have found that around bridges the larger jewies are very tide dependant asnd the change / first hour of the run out has produced the most and larger models. Las but most exciting area I have been getting them is drop offs from flats and rock walls. The water is a lot clearer so longer casts, lighter line and a slow presentation is needed. what works for me is unweighted jerk baits fished on a worm hook and slowly worked across the flat and allowed to drift down the drop offs with slight twitches on the way. With HB's in this territory slowly twitching them so they are nuding the rubble bottom and then suspending them in the " zone" once you reach the drop off should hopefully yield some results. Well this is what has been working for me and I hope there is something in there that may help you. Cheers, Mitch
  23. Thanks for that info guys, much apreciated Very detailed there jewgaffer, i like it Mitch
  24. G'day raiders, Just wondering if anyone can point me in the right direction. Going to take the family out with me this weekend and wouldn't mind incorperating a nice picnic on our travels. Will be doing the ususal breamin / jewies but would like to be able to pull up somewhere and have a feed and whatnot. Has anyone got any ideas of where this is possible?? Not phased where about in / around Sydney. Just somewhere that I can beach the boat and know that it won't get swamped. I was thinking Middle harbour only I don't know my way around it too well. I am on the hawkesbury a lot but don't take any notice, any good picnin spots there??? All help very much apreciated Mitch
