  1. Good work to both of you. I bet your son had fun once he caught a fish, that's what its all about. Shame about the goons on the party boats and dropping the big one, im sure you'll get another one next time Mitch
  2. Grat work, 3 from 3 in the canoe. That would be great fun to hook a kingy in a canoe, Keep up the good work and look forward to more reports, hope ya get a big hoodie in it MItch
  3. Well back in Sydney after a big day. Ended up being very busy so the no rod situation was OK. Anyhow I am definatky planning on heading back again for a bit longer next time, might try and tie it in with next years ABT round Mitch
  4. Sounds like a fun but late night. We use to do a lot of prawning in the Entrance on the Central coast, great fun The best part of the night is when you get home and cook 'em up......then you have to wait for them to cool before you scoff them all down Mitch
  5. Nice work on the nepean bass, hopefully the water up there should start to warm a bit more soon, and they will "hopefully" be thick on the surface bite MItch
  6. Hey Raiders, Well I got a phone call last night asking me to head down to Adelaide for the day for work. Flew out early this morning and arrived for my first visit to Adelaide. Unfortunatly I have a few hours to spare and I didn't bring a rod. I always try and pack a travel rod wherever I go but Not this time. Beautiful weather and time up my sleave, would have been good to have a fish somewhere new. Oh well I'll have to go for a walk and see what the waters like here. If theres any raiders thinking about heading to Adelaide, it sure looks like a pretty nice place. Mitch
  7. Go The Solomons Cops, i met a few of the local police force when I was over there a few years back, great bunch of guys and they had some stories to tell. Glad to see another criminal put away Mitch
  8. Thanks everyone, it was the cherry on top. I was surprised at how well conditioned it was. it had a pretty fat gut on it. Iceman, I use the crank 38's Roberta, I ended up going a bit further down river than were you probably were, 43.5 nice bream Driftfisher, I usually electric up and down the rows casting as close as possible towards the edge of the rack and retrieve right along side it. Although I have caught quite a few good bream on off cast that have landed in no mans land also. On a high tide I will also fish stright over the tops. Mitch
  9. I like to think that I stick to the rules of this site and if I am ever unsure about posting regarding my personal sponsors products I will either post for moderators to edit as necissary and mention that i am sposored by said company as not not show bias. i guess the purpose of my post is to ask a question. Yes it is a site for fishing and boating but this section (Bar) has a lot of posts regarding almost everything non fishing. i do understand the rules regarding posting non site sponsors but there are a lot of posts in other threads regarding info on boat, motor, reel info etc and it doesn't get blocked so why is it this closed??? i do not mean to stir up anything but just curious. Personally i think this is a great site and mods do a great job and i am in no way questioning the job, just curious Mitch (please don't take my post in the wrong context)
  10. Jenno, unfortunatly the flatties were a pesky bycatch yesterday. we were both using Strudwick SofBodz and Sofbodz Pro in the 2-4kg range in the racks with 2000 Certates and Quantum Energy reels. 6lb main line and 8 - 15lb stealth leader. lures we were using in the racks were Atomic Hards, Strike Pro Blades (lost a few to flatties), Wrigglers and unweighted stickbaits. For the breamin i mainly fished Gulp 2" watermelon grubs and 3" gulp minnows. The missus was using mainly Gulp shrimps adn Wrigglers. The missus picked her jew up on a Banana prawn shrimp and mine on a 3" swimming mullet For the Hawks flatties I usually like to use a variety of Squidgy fish and Berkley saltwater range. infortunatly the racks are now rails and poles but the bream are still there, some racks are not near as productive as they used to be but there are still some that I find produce regular kilo plus blue noses Mitch
  11. Thankd Guys, Andrew, I love the Hardz, they remind me of some old australian made lures (not sure of the name. Great range of colours. the thing that stands out to my style of fishing is that they float very quickly back to the surface so great for thick weedbeds and sunken timber etc Mitch
  12. G'day Raiders, Been a while between posts so thought it was about time I put one up. After doing a bit of work on the boat over the last month or so I decided to go hit my fave little piece in my backyard down the Hawkesbury. Got on the water with thte missus at a gentalmanly hour of 0730 and with the water pretty high decided to hit some usually productive potoons. We both pulled a few fish but nothing overly exciting so decided to make the run down river to a few deeper rockwalls and point which finally started to produce some better results and we had a few crackers thrown in the well. After this it was off to some old "racks" as the missus had never fished them before. First cast my atomic hardz met a big bream and then some sticks, it must have liked em because that was the last I saw of that lure. The missus ended up with aroud 10 flatties from the first set of racks. with the tide dropping we hit one last set of racks and i went on to lose 2 more Atomic Hardz and pulled a couple of fish. The missus got smoked by a bruiser.....ooooh yeah baby love those racks. To finish off the day decided to do a bit of my fave deep water breaming. A heap of choppers, a couple of missed strikes and the missus comes up tight with her first jewie. Not a biggun but at 35cm she was stoked. It was gettin pretty hot so I decided to jump over for a quick dip. As I got back in the boat we had moved off the reef and I noticed a big bait school on the sounder in around 11m so I quickly rigged up a 1/6th and cast to the edge of it. Hop Hop Hit... ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ I usually do all my deepwater with 2000+ size reels and I had the 1000 Stradic. I wasn't feeling too confident when I could see my line creeping towards the backing so I gave chase with the nearly flat leccie. After about 5-10 mins I started to get some line back and off it goes again ZZZZZZZZZZZ so I go tthe missus to start the main motor and follow it for a whil until it stopped. about another 7 mins and I seen some colour. oh yeah nice Jewie, a couple of last ditch lunges at the boat side before she cam aboard and a new PB jew for me Caught it on Strudwick SofBodz 2-4kg, 1000 Stradic, 4lb Platypus super braid and 4lb Platypus Stealth leader. Went home a happy angler at the end of the day Cheers, Mitch Trying to upload pics but wono't let me. Would I be able to email them to someone? Mitch

    More Sp's

An obsession it is. How is brizzy waters fishing atm Ray?? thinking about hitting it on Sunday MItch
  14. Great reel and great price Im sure you'll enjoy it, can't really comment on what rod to match as most of my gear is bream and bass. Looking forward to your kingy slaying reports Mitch
  15. Roberta, My Fave consistant colours for where I fiah are 352, 343 (these rock) 306, 302 and 307. I pretty much only use these colours although I have a handfull that I have also taken all the paint off for the super finicky clear water breamin Mitch
  16. Mate, I fish wisemans quite a bit for bream and Ep's. It is a great place to fish with loads of options, bass bream EP, Jew, and XOS Lizards. there are a lot of fishing options such as Pontoons, rockwalls, flats, snags, boats and rockbars. BUT......in saying this, I love fishing lake mac and it would have to be one of my fave bream fishing grounds and the bycatch is big and awesome Mitch
  17. Nice work matt and congrats on the new PB. I went down there last night flicking some surface walkers. Had a lot of boils and hits, ended up with 11 landed but no eal size except 1 around 35 Mitch
  18. Thanks, that does help a lot. I have heard from a few people about no go zones but have not been on the waterway for too long to notice the changes. At least now I will know that I cant fish the "old Haunts" Cheers, Mitch
  19. Bully, I don't think the fact that somebody has written a post regarding big bait schools in the harbour will mean that " every man and his dog" will be fishing there. its Sydney Harbour, its always busy and word gets around pretty quick regarding feeding frenzies and surface action. Just a quick one regarding not being alowed to fish from Goat island to Fort denison, I don't fish the Harbour that mich these days and am struggling to find a legislation or boating map that confirms this, can anyone help out with this??? When I did fish the Harbour a lot (3 - 5) days a week a lot of my breaming was done in this general area, Sure there are Ferries there but if you stay out of there way its all good. Mitch
  20. NIce work On the chopper session, its always good fun whn you come across of feeding frenzied fish, you never know waht other predators might be swimming with them sometimes Mitch
  21. Lots of options are available for you around wisemans Roberta. If it is Bass you want your best options ae too paddle upstream and hit the pontoons and deep rockwalls as well as fallen trees. Note, the water can get to around 13m on some of these bends. There are 2 Ferrys at wisemans. one is the main ferry and there is the Webbs Creek Ferry. If you pladdle past the Webbs Ferry you can head up into Webbs creek, a very snaggy creek that holds loads of good bass. At the mouth of the creek (not too wide) there is a drop off that at the right time will hold school jewies. You could also head up into the Mcdonald River. This is a good waterway and you can catch everything from bream, EP, BAss, Jew etc. The real BAss fishing starts once you get passed the 8kn zone. If you were mainly chasing Bram I woul recommend the deep rockwalls that are on the Ferry side of the river and the "flats" heading into the Mcdonald, here you are very likely to run into some Big bycatch aswell. Hope this helps, I should be flicking around wisemans on Sunday with the Missus, if your still about I might see you there Mitch
  22. what an awsome catch, i guess the rest of his fishing career will be pretty boring trying to compare to that. Awesome MItch
  23. im glad nobody at the ramp or on the road was injured by his stupidity
  24. Fair dinkum, that reefy looks mean. Sorry but i got half way through the story and had to have laugh to myself. not a nice thing to happen to anybody but.... wuld you expect a 1.8m anything to sit still if you grabbed it by the tail
