  1. Just for curiosity any chance of pictures of a Rum Runner?
  2. It is a short transom with a long shaft motor.there is no cavitation.
  3. Not sure if this helps, but I have seen people use a starter motor with pulleys and a fan belt on their hand winch to make an electric winch, which you can change pulley size of to change recovery rate.
  4. Thank you for the well wishes.I received Et's Guide's guide to fishing book and the Ewan McGregor and Charley Boorman Long way round box dvd set from Kellie and Cooper.very happy and looking forward to a few and a BBQ for dinner. and some for dessert thanks,Mathew.
  5. Yes was a brand new impeller, used the plastic key which came with it,the one from old one was plastic as well. it certainly seems like right one.
  6. It is overheating as it steams up and you can see that water stops coming out of tell tale. when it first did it I changed impeller, then I took for a run still did it,so I changed head gasket, fitted a thermostat as it didnt have one, still same issues. it is fine on the muffs,at slow speeds it is fine,as soon as you start to get around half throttle or so, you can see the water stops flowing out of tell tale.then back off it starts pumping again and motor cools down again.I pulled head back off, there is no corrosion in head or block.
  7. Unfortunately Huey is a bit far from taree.
  8. It had same issue, that is why I checked thermostat etc. any more ideas? pulled head back off, there is no build up at all in there or block, dont know what next.

  13. Hi,I have a 30hp johson 84 model. at low revs it runs fine but when you have throttle open around half or so for a few minutes it stops pumping water, slow down it pumps again and no worries.I changed impeller, that still didnt fix it,I changed head gasket, fitted a thermostat as it didnt have one, took for a run today, same thing. any ideas as what I should do next?
  14. They normal just need a wiggle and a jiggle and they will pop of. there is not normally anywhere on a prop to use a puller as suggested by Gazza. giving a couple of love taps with timber and hammer shouldnt hurt.
  15. Use a block of timber, hit back of prop with timber and hammer, keep working around until it comes off. spray a bit of wd40 or equivalent should come off.
  16. I would just change the impeller, just go easy on the bolts in case any are seized in housing,if they are hard to get out then work them back and forth slowly with inox or wd 40 spray until they are free,I would change gearbox oil when its back together, spark plugs then go and have fun.
  20. Hurry up Glen,it will be the best move you do.
  21. Thank you for the replies,I shall up grade to a bigger fitting.
