  2. I do have SS rodholders at the back of my boat but i think i have to take them out and move them around as they arent postion in the right spots after the DR goes in.
  3. Wow that was replys! Thanks guys for the advise guys i surely wont be usin them for the kings. lanyard? im guessin that is a clip with some good rope/wire that clips on your boat jus in case the rods goes over?? Can anyone post some pics of there set up on ther boats by any chance? So give me ideas b4 i go drilling holes that i will regret and patch it.. thanks raiders
  4. Hey raiders, I jus got my pair of scotty 1114 DR delivered and im bloody excited. Ive been reading about not trusting the rod holders that connects to the boom in some other models but i havent read much about these rod holders. Since my beloved and expensive rod and reels on them, would you trust them sittin in there when hopefully a hoodlum hits??
  5. thanks guys. I must say i didnt get much luck that outting out of that whole mix bag i only landed the 40cm flatty and rest was landed by my bro in law and another mate... But it was all worth it as i had a awsome 10minute fight with that 1 kingie that busted me off.
  6. wow good work with the experimenting and thanks for that also, i might go buy a roll and see how i go. Right now im usin the penn 10x range which seems to be ok but not good enough i guess.
  7. thanks mate for the info penguin. Now i jus need to work out where your king spot is in the harbour. i think i know where that is You say you use 5.5kg mono line is that with the leader as well?? I was out on the bay on saturday day and usin 10lb leader and i had no hope pulling a king up was thinking it was around the 70cm and i had no hope pulling this baby up. Maybe hopping 12lb would give me that slight extra chance of gettin one up.
  8. nice penguin i read your post and you always do so well in the harbour. Any hints on what prwns you use? frozen or fresh ,hawksburry or local , bait shop or servo??
  9. Head out to the bay to fish the aussie weekend. Tried to get some squid at bare island for a few hrs and only got a octopus that squeeze it self in a rock . So move on HWO and manage few bream and 3 stingray thingos... Next spot we got seattle down in was a the 3rd runway we lost a decent fish using octopus head, took off like a rocket but it manage to spit out the hook. Very dissapointed as it would of been a decent jewie i thinks. During the night got a good size flattie at 63cm and that was it till the sunrise. About 6ish in the morning the bream were biting for abit and got 3 keepers biggest at 28 and 2 others at 25 and 26. Tried the oil wharf after that for a few hrs and did alright for my standards landing 2 kingies 65 and 70 model. I lost one on light gear busted me off as i was using 10lb. Would of been around the same size as the 70cm one as i hook him up when we were nettin the first king of the day. The 70 model almost hitting the 4kg nice and fat. Good day out for me and awsome weather too! V
  10. hey huey, thanks for the prices and info. wow they arent cheap... Is there a market for 2nd ones??
  11. This could be off topic but says for a SS 16" prop what are they worth??? Im guess they get more $$ when you go bigger?
  12. What a ripper of a fish. biggest sucker ive seen in my short carrer!
  13. sweet tunas in our harbour thanks for the info jig
  14. I would also like some too as you already know. It cant be posted out to me? As them stores are pretty far for a person that is unlicence.
  15. wow they look sweet as.... nice catch!
  16. Aww that story is heartbreaking.... Im sure you will land a nice jewie one day, Jus dont give up!
  17. HAHA at least you got the boat back. I guess lesson to be learnt from that one.
  18. Balminbob, thanks for the guide! Robbielites, I dont laid it out gracefully cause i have a electric winch. I jus press the button and it drops down till it hits the bottom. that cause be a problem some times. My chain is decent size but i can only use the chain size the recommend which is 6mmshort link, 7mm DIN BBB 1/4inch G4 HT. I think i have 6mm short link which is 4meters in lenght. Stuck, it does say to use locklite on the D shackle??? But it worth a shot what you jus said. inhlanzi, No im not usin a stainless steel. Will buy for the next trip out on the water
  19. I decieded to take the boat out on the harbour to watch the NYE fireworks . And btw was more enjoyable then what ive read. I found a spot in between ms macquarie chairs and the Opera house which almost had a full view of the harbour brigde. After spending 200bucks on this SARCA anchor i thought i be anchored down on my first go! But after 5 tries (slow drifting) with no luck i was force to move to a spot futher back in the crowd! A few ppl had there 2 cents worth which made me feel abit embarrass... The depth of the water was about 9meter so i was letting out about 15meter including 4meters of chain. Do you think it had something to do with the surface?? to muddy??? I was very let down from what ive seen with this SARCA anchors. OOPS this was meant to be in the boating section!! Can one of the mods move it there pls!!
  20. Paint_stripper You have a very good point!!! i have lost a few fish on the prop and the time spent with lines lost to undo that thing!!! Jigholio I dont mind abit of swing but not on my day off.
  21. Hey chris, I think i will give tony a buzz and see which way he can guild me for a good out fit! Them rods sure look good. thanks
  22. Hey kit, Thanks for the advices. I happen to drive pass fredy's fishing shop today and decieded to swing pass and have a look around. Teamdawia have some very nice rods and they are on sale for a pretty decent price! there was 2 rods that i like the most. They were the teamdawia SOL 2-4kg and teamdawia IMZ 2-4kg. both felt great but both for different types of fishing. The SOL have a more solid tip (maybe good for slugs ) and the IMZ had a fin tip great for SP's. Both of these rods had heaps of grunt down low. SOL was price around $240 and the IMZ was $300. both with a big discount from retail price. Only down side of the IMZ was it didnt have silicone gudies where the SOL did... Not keen on the shimano rods felt jus to fat and heavy.
  23. Sweet i will give all this tips mention in this topic i shot next time im in the water. Fingers cross i can in peace. thanks heaps to the ppl that replied
  24. I was thinkin the same thing about deserving a better partner Well considering im new too all this and have been keeping a eye out on rods here and there ( which can cost heaps) i would be willing to spend 300 give or take from that mark. You landed a kingie on one of these rods?? I thought my rod was about to shit it self when i caught a slimmie the other day...Cant imagen what a kingie at 76cm would do to it
