  6. Hey raiders I thought i share my sussessful fishing trip in the harbour yesterday arvo/night. Armed with some live nippers , very old prawns and pilles headed to the main harbour tryin to cure the sickness of not fishing for 2 weeks. Tried for some squid at a few places for a zero and gave up when the southerly picked up abit. Headed over to the WC which only rewarded us with a flattie but did give us pently of yakkas for the night. Water was really calm so tried some of the markers for some arvo kings but not takers so then we jus worked the area around S&P and it was firing. ALot of liltte ones at the start but then found some nice keepers to bring home for the table. Decent 6hr session for just me and the misses
  7. same for my self! got to the hawkesbury at 430am went to get some yakkas and tried around pittwater and the heads with not even a bite....i even had live prawns to mix it up abit!@!@! tried DR around lion island for nothing. After 12hrs on the water i came home with a keeper flatie and bream.
  8. Hello fellas, Been in the mood for workin on the boat and there a problem that i would like to fix as its bugs me when you dont know excalty how much petrol you got in the tank after a day out on the water. I just pulled out the sender today and the problem its having is that he doesnt read a full tank when its full. The most it reads is 3bars and flashes empty when the tank is 3/4 full. Havin a look the float it kinda looks abit shady, and the sender arm seems abit tight when im moving it. Raising the float to full position only give me 3/4 bar on the gauge. Is there a quick fix for this problem??? Bloke at the boating store say it will cost around 150bucks from yammaha or to repair will cost you about the same. Can these things cost that much??!!! He did point me to a bussiness called VDO but they are asking abit to fix the sender. Would anyone know of another place that could fix this problem hopefully for a cheaper price??? I live in the liverpool region thanks
  9. GregL My boat uses a winch that has a free fall mode and currently using 4mtrs of chain hence why it probably gets stuck down there. I will keep that in mind next time in that situtatioin. Goin to need a mate to help me press the button while i control the deploy of the rope BB18 Thanks for your insight, im goin to try 1mtr of chain next time and see how it holds up. I have a decent size achor reef at home so im jus goin to bring that along i dont think i can fit to many achors on my boat as its always full of gear. cheers guys
  10. Hello raiders, I experienced something horrible on the water while fishing on saturday. My $200 anchor almost got lost to the sea bed jus off little bay. Lucky i had a mate on my boat who helped me resue it. Ive read somewhere on this forum, when you use a reef anchor your not meant to have a chain on it. Can someone comfirm that??? Im guessin that could be true as my freind that dove down said that the chain was stuck around and rock plus the anchor was was wedge in one too. cheers
  11. thanks for the heads up bluebottle18 Towing the boat through the city to rose bay is jus a pain in the butt!
  12. I docked at rosebay b4 the sunrise and found it very hard jus to find bait! 1 squid and 2 yakkas after hrs. Tried to DR around north head but the wind and seas were to rough for me so headed back inside with out any luck. Tho i did see a massive pack of salmon feeding at north head but the time i got to them they went missing again. Did abit of bait fishing but jus gettin small pickers all day so it was very slow for me too. I spoke to the cop that was checking ppl at rose bay wharf and he meantion that everyone he spoke to said it was also a slow day.
  13. hey raiders, Im in need of some information.... I got some freinds headin to japan this week and i would love to put a daiwa cetrate hyper custom 4000 to my collection . Ive read in the past threads of some raiders venturing around some mega fishing stores in tokyo. I have done a search but didnt find what i need so im wondering if some raiders could give me the addy or a link to some stores in tokyo. cheers
  14. thanks lads.. i will have to try and get the pics off my freinds camera as i didnt think much of these nasty lookin fish. lol
  15. hey raiders, Headed up to the central coast for the easter long weekend as somes freinds had hired a house at forresters beach so i thought it was a good chance to break my virginity and head off shore and gave jiggin a crack. I never ventured far offshore nor have i jigged for kings in my life, so pretty clueless i headed to my local fishing shop to buy some jigs and hopefully get some local knowlegde about the waters. The guys there were awsome, teachin us about jiggin and telling us about some grounds to get some action. Early sunday morning got to the terrigal ramp at 5am and in search for some bait for back up and boy it was a breeze. With in 1hr had a tank full or yakkas and 5 squid. with enough bait we were on our way to our spot. Our destination was 15miles off shore and on the way we had some company, a pod of dolphins were crusin right next to the boat surfin in the wake. What a beautiful start to the day ahead. . 1.5hrs later we arrived at the grounds soon as we saw some activity on the sonar we dropped down a yakka and squid and the 3 of us started to jig our life away. With the first drop my mate lands a wahoo( cant be sure but im jus goin on the pic i have on the boat) with the 2nd drop the same mate is on...With the reelin screamin away and the blood rushing through my head i manage to get the camera out to film my mate gettin drilled on our first king of the day. Filmin didnt last for long as the rig with the yakka gets hit but i got busted off a short time later In the mean time my mate is still workin on the king after a good 10min fight we land the decent king. 80cm it measured up from the nose to the fork, didnt get to weight it as my scales wasnt workin but geeezz the kings up there was very solid and chunky. Went quite after that so decieded to move on. Saw some fish traps out there so chucked out some slugs and saw some dolphin fish chase it to the boat. They didnt take the slugs but they slamed the yakkas and squid and got one on the jig. Landed my first dolphin fish which the biggest went for 55cm abit on the small size but they sure put on a good show. We didnt stay for long as our goal was to hunt for them kings. By the afternoon it went abit quite on the front, movin around the place tryin waters ranging from 75m to 130m. After a hr of jiggin for nothing but i did land this monster of a leather jacket which weight in for 1.6kg . After jiggin in 130mtrs of water with a sore arm we decided to go back in for more swallower waters. With a more workable depth of 75mtrs will saw our selfs with a school of wahoos, they didnt put on much of a fight probably due to there size but they sure ripped apart my jigs and line. It wasnt worth it to stay as i lost the best jig of the day (silver 250g) we slowly worked our way back into shore tryin a few more spots but not so much luck. Got back to the ramp around 3ish but gezzz had a bloody awsome day for my first time offshore. Gave it another shot the next day but it wasnt as great as sunday ,im thinkin the low pressure system moved in and the fish went off the bite. Only landed a small leather jacket. I did lose a few rigs due tp those nasty leather jackets were eattin the braid!!!! Good thing the fish wasnt biting as the weather turned abit grey the swell started to pick up. Got back to sydney that afternoon with a pack full or experience and fun. Cheers. LH
  16. hey raiders, Heading away for the easter long weekend which we have booked a house at forrester beach or somewhere near by and was thinkin of takin the boat up for a fish. Never taken the boat nor fish at the central coast. Ive read that fishin up there is great especially jiggin for some kings around terrigal way. So was hopping for some tips for some hot action.....If the water is abit rough where not to far from woy woy and the brisane waters too. Anyone out that way that is willing to share some local knowledge would be great cheers, LH
  17. srxwat4, i feel your pain. I went out there about a month ago tryin to get me worms which i did get a decent amount but it sure was hard work as i had to move around to many spots. I think its all wormed out due to the fact of ppl jus taking way to much over the yrs!!!
  18. Jus heard on the radio that a diver jus got attack by a bull shark near woolloomooloo with serious injuries.
  19. I was tryin to get some yakkas and the coppers drove pass me warning me there was a 3mtr tiger or bonze shark lucking around. Maybe this is why i found it so hard to get bait on saturday?@#@!?

  21. A.dawg, You jus shattered my dreams of catchin a big jew in this river system!!! hahaha but it still wont stop me tryin again for the jew or ray... I headed out to the same place for australia day and landed coulpe of bigger bream. 33 and 34cm and a few more keepers under that size. Had a few bites early in the morning but very slow in the arvo maybe due to the fact of so much boats in the water??!?! drowned some fresh prawns with XO coganc then boiled to eat with noodles for breaky sure was different but it went down nicely.
  22. just around the sand shores of picinc point

  24. hey raiders, Heading out late with the misses and a mate to get some prawns for some bait to do abit of fishing. After hittin a few spots with no such luck i arrive to a place with some signs of life on the sonar so decided to camp there for the run out tide. About 6am and the sunlight showed its self the fish were on the bite. Landed a 20cm perch, few 30cm tailor, 2 breams, 45cm flattie and lost a massive fish. Im calling it a jew as it did a blistering run with heads shakes for a good 40mtrs then finally snag it self!!! heart broken but am cheering to see heaps of fish in this river system these days.. I be heading back there tonight to try my luck again for that fish that got away!
  25. hey raiders, I didnt have much time last night but i was at captian cook bridge last night for the start of the run-in tide and only manage a 50cm soapy on squid. i didnt catch antying excpet the jewie but did land a few of these snake-eel looking things which loved the fresh squid!!! Finally had enough of catchin these things so moved on to the 3rd run for some luck but was very quite so called it quits at 1am. Anyone know the name for this ugly snake-eel thingo???
