  1. its the gp7000f combo. Im not sure about the similarities between them all i can totally agree about the furunos!
  2. i should of added the weather turned out fine! sun shine beaming on our backs when heading to the fads. Fishing these dollies on light gear sure was fun.... all you hear is the drag screaming away in short bursts.
  3. Gday fellow fisho, Dangas and I decided to hit the water on wednesday abit later then normally due to the unpredictable weather The forcast was a shower or 2 but been hangin to test out my new furuno sounder and boy it didnt disappoint. This unit is amazing . Heading over to the 3rd runway to find some livies and they were showing on the sounder and even see some surface action but they werent takin baitjigs or lures. After wasting hrs we finally found them and manage around 15 for the well. Slowly made our way out to the botany fads, arrive there at 430 and with not my light left we did a troll pass with a double up of dollies. Landed 1 lost the other didnt have time to measure but over 70cm. Did a few more pass for throw backs, did a few drifts pass with every yakka got a hook up. With in 1 hr all our yakkas were gone! Pilles were gettin smashed too. End of a quick session landed 4 legal and a good 10 underszie. Headed back to the ramp in the darker then i would like it to be but all good with some actioin!
  4. Yeh those 1kw are costly! But im sure i try to fit it on my xmas shopping list at the end of the yr. Other then that i had to go out and buy a C map max as the navionics maps dont work on this unit but to say that the C maps are pretty detailed and has multi media pics which is great among other things ive havent figured out yet . I be hitttin the water this weekend to test this unit out.
  5. It costed me abit under $1700 (U.S) with the 600w transducer. Well our dollar was fetching 0.93c when i purchased it but hearing on the news it possibly will drop from this week.
  6. Gday lads, I just to show off my new toy that jus landed in our beautiful country this morning. And thanks my misses auntie from the states who brought it over which save me $100 postage and she didnt get tax through our gates too. I should take her for a session on the water when i install this baby in the morning. I couldnt only afford the 600w transducer but ive was told it shold the job nicely for my style of fishing. The size of this combo makes my old eagle 642 looks like a toy.
  7. Sounds like a very hot sessions!! Btw did you drop pass a shop livo and dropped off 2 dollies for dave?? Cause i was there and he said a mate jus came back from the fads with dollie action. Sounds alot like you
  8. ive been to jb a couple of times in the last coulpe of months and its so much better then sydney... get some squid near the boat ramps head out to middle ground/bowen island/tubes and you should pick up fish. Trolling was the most affective fishing for bonnies and macks for me when bait fishing was slow.
  9. what bait did the most dmg mate??
  10. Ive been catchin a heaps on the black magic skirts and gillies slugs 5 to 15grams in white and blue colour.
  11. Just spoke to craig from huett marine and boy has he change my view on sounder combos Always heard of the raymarine and furuno were the top of the packed and after doin abit of research im think ill be headin down that path. My top 3 are the: Furuno GP7000F Raymarine A70D or the Raymarine C80. Craig is doin a good price on his display model which is hard to pass by but looking on some U.S site its even more hard to turn a eye on. Furuno is the most expensive out of the pact but from what craig says it be like drivin a ferrari compare to my (hyundai excel/eagle 642 combo). And who doesnt like to drive a ferrari once in there life Anyone with input with any of these brands/models above like performance, user-bility or anything in general, it be greatly appreciated. cheers LH
  12. greg what sonar/set are you using?? if you dont mind me asking?? Does anyone know how much would a 1kw transducer will cost these days??
  13. Ive got a freind goin to the states on monday so if i can get my funds together he will bring it back for me. Save like 100 bucks on postage Well at this stage i fish alot along the heads/coast with abit of fishin inside the harbour/bay. But this winter im definitely be headin off shore ( peak , 12mile and futher). Do you think the HD-S 5 and 7 work better in swallower waters then the 8 and 10?? Im jus goin to use the map i brought with the eagle which is the navionics gold LX9.
  14. Hello fisho, My ealge 642 combo jus shit it self so it has forced me to buy something newer.. . Ive done abit of research and what catches my eye is the lowrance hd-s range. my heart is setted on the HD-S 8! Does anyone wanted to talk me out of this purchase??
  15. Well jus came back from the entrance and by jolly me the anchor actually did it job in windy conditions YAY only probably up there that the current isnt that strong if any current at all.....Hopping to try it in the harbour or the bay durin this windy to really test her out.
  16. brickman, thats what i mentioning in the first post with about the shovel section beenin modified. Might jus get the hammer out and bang it a few times to give it more of a angle. But yeah i will give it b4 i doin any futher changes! cheers, Vi
  17. Well today weight up the anchor and chain it bearly hit 9kg which to my surprise is pretty light! Im not sure why they would recommond usin such a short length in the first place. So i went out and brought my self another 6mtrs of chain which takes the totally weight too roughly 15kg. So i got a buffer from the max 20kg rating they have. So in totally 10mtrs of chain plus a sarca anchor if this doesnt hold im goin to shoot my self Heres are pic of the set up b4 the extra chain.
  18. Yeah im thinkin it could be the length or jus not heavy enough the only reason for beenin that length is the company recommends usin that length. I actually rang them this morning jus to make it clear and the bird claims no more then 5mtrs OR anchor and chain cant be over 20kg or the winch will over work and shit it self. Goin to pull out the scales tomorro and see how much extra i can add on the 4mtrs. Ive tried many lengths of rope but it doesnt matter it still has problems holdin in most case. Ive anchor at reefs b4 and some times get stuck aye.... but the trip release does its jobs! except for that one time where my anchor got really really stuck and from the big swell actually snap my 14mm rope!!!! lucky i had a mate on board with his spear fishing gear with him and had to dive down 25mtrs to recuse it . I always reverse when i drop her down but she jus wont stick in windy conditioins.I will post up a pic of the set up tomorrow but i dont think its any different from any other electric winch setup.
  19. Hi raiders, This is my last straw with my sarca anchor and my last hope b4 this anchor gets the booted from its job. Been usin a electric winch with 4mtrs of 6mm chain ( which is the recommendation) with a No.2 anchor ( 5.3 ally cabin) for yrs now and its has finally drove me up the wall This anchor wont bloody hold the bottom in most cases unless it hooked up to a rocky or reefy area. If the winds pick up i might as well back up my rods and go home as its gettin bloody dangerous, i cant even have a nap cause of the fear of my boat ended up at NZ when i wake up Its so fusstraing to anchor next to a same size boat that uses a normal sand anchor and hold the bottom while i try like 3 times and finally move up cause i keep on drifting. Ive read on the internet that it fails cause of dropping down the anchor to fast, when it hits the bottom the chain gets tangle around the anchor therefor it doesnt sit properly. Ive tried a controlled drop by usin my hands but most times i would have to pull it up again and again if the tide or the wind is strong. I was hangin out a rose bay ramp not to long ago and saw this twin hull 6.5mtr glass boat with a modded sarca anchor... the bloke actually bent the tip of the anchor too almost 90 degrees. I can almost see what his tryin to achieve makin the anchor digging down fast and deeper??? Never got a chance to ask him how it holds up... Should i be tryin this engineer this anchor or should i jus chuck it in the big and use my plough i got hiddin somewhere!! I will call south pafic and see if there winch can handle more then 4mtrs of chain jus by out of chance this could help in any way. Help?? or some comforting words about how crap these anchors would be great
  20. I decided to go for the FINS over the PP. And yellow it is
  21. I was down there JB last weekend and middle ground was firing in the morning. I was DR yakkas and slimmies both were gettin smacked by rats and some decent kings that reef me!!!! Trollin skirt jus out side murrays boat ramp and front of bowen island picked up some bonnies too. Never tried jigg tho but did see a boat pickin up some rats around that area too. Got smoke at outter tubes usin live calamari
