Checked Walsh Bay today ,Surgeons &Trevs are biting&have been all week for those with the right techniques.Bust~ups have been all over as the fish are big.

But why are they so STRONG ! If you look at their body in proportion to the tail ,the body is much bigger than say a Blackfish or Bream which both have realatively bigger tails. Perhaps it's like those 50kg Yellowtail Tuna with the massive round body and much smaller tail ?

Spot on Dicko,the skin is like TWICE as tough as a Jackets! Sorry I couldn't reply as I nearly amputated the top of my thumb using an ultra sharp knife to fillet it Copa, it was got on 15kg braid with a 2m 25lb vanish leader and a size 4 X strong hook no sinker and bread bait(as that was what they liked to eat) Laredo it was over 40cm to the fork ,that was the length of my ruler

I was busted up by these gray fish so many times I lured one on 30lb line.Even though it was 40cm it nearly broke my rod!

They eat everthing ,worms,nippers,prawn&bread.We use v small size 10 hooks.They scare all the other fish away

We have been using 25 lb & locked drags ....nearly broke my rod this am. They are up to 60cm,their slime stinks&stings like 'Happy Moments' But they are the best tasting fish I have ever eaten

If you see a grey 'Bream'up in a berly trail and it has a white tail 'wrist'be v v careful It is v dangerous,covered in a poisonous slim & razor sharp scales it pulls like an express train &bites traces through. I have lost a lot of hooks &line in the last 2 days &one nearly broke my rod!

Saw a group of fine looking fish laying eggs in the harbour yesterday ,think it may have been because of the full moon.The spawn was pale pink and on the surface drifting with the tide.They wouldn't even LOOK at a bait!

SILVERTAILED CITY BLACKIES This is how corrupted their taste gets living in Mosman.... I was down at Clifton Gardens (in Mosman)Wharf and some fellows were fishing for Bream &Trevallies off the end of the wharf.They were burleying heavily (probably too much) with a bread mixture.Everytime they threw it in about a dozen or so LARGE (35cm+) rose up off the bottom to eat it.They said they had accidentally hooked a few but got busted up each time as they had very light tackle!

Ray is a good bloke! I fished there 15yrs ago and I know he has the spot wired! se seas are a big no no at Avoca and are very dangerous!

Sydney has large. School of Blackies inside the heads today I got one bronzie of42cm theyspook easily in the shallow clear water I had no weed so had to feed them bread Hi Moses!

I was fighting a large 60cm hood length squid at Cliffon Gdns. 2yrs ago so big I couldn t lift it.Dragging into the beach I saw a large ray (I thought )following into the shallows less than one meter deep as I hurried to beach it this thing raced up and grabbed it. then I saw it was a monster squid with a body over a meter long.As I watched and a massive cloud of ink cleared was this creature slowly dragging his victim back to deep water
