  1. It's never to cold to go camping, it wasn't frosty just a little wet, the cloud cover kept the temperature down. Dean
  2. Nice bream Doug, well done.
  3. Hi All Spent the weekend camping and chasing Trout with a mate up near Oberon. The weather was cool and overcast for most of the weekend, with the occasional shower. The fishing was tough at times, by lunch time on Saturday we only managed one fish, a rainbow for John. We decided to move camp and try another river. Finally after lunch I landed a small brown. I had a few new lures on this trip, mainly the popular Bream lures in Trout colours, they all seemed to be effective. The fishing picked up Saturday afternoon, and we both managed to land a few fish. I picked up this nice brown in a long shallow pool, he smashed the lure just after it hit the water. This Rainbow liked the look of the Rigge Zipbait The weather had improved Sunday morning and so did the fishing. We both caught a few more fish. The weekend started slowly, but as the weather improved so did the fishing. Cheers, Dean
  4. Hi Cam Didn't get a chance to look at the vid on you tube, but the bass in those pictures are huge. The gorge looks awesome. There are a few properties on the river that allow fishing and camping. Wave Hill Station or The Gorge(the winters property), they both look pretty good, the price seems reasonable as well. Definitely a place worth looking at. Cheers' Dean
  5. Nice couple of fish, and good report. I've fished down there a few times with only limited success. Good to see the plastics worked well. Matt I 4wd up the back of lake Lyell often. Not sure on the parts of the dam your looking at. Could help with track info in the Cox's river area. Dean
  6. Nice fish Cam, well done. I can remember the first time i tried poppering for Bream. Big fish stalking the lure and then eventually smashing it makes for unforgettable fishing. Did you get a chance to chase a few Trout the other week? Looking forward to reading a few more reports. Dean
  7. Nice fish Matt, good report. Sounds like the fishing was tough over Easter. Have you ever had success with the stiffy minnow in rivers, what's your favorite colour? I've been trying some new lures out lately, always looking for something different. Cheers, Dean
  8. Greg the river is clear enough to fish now. Bass or Bream, that's a hard decision. 43cm bream sneaking up on your lure and smashing them at the last minute, that's got to be hard to beat. Dean
  9. I've also found the fishing's slowed up a bit after the rain. I've heard a few reports of fish further up river. Have you tried fishing the morning, I always seem to do better. I had a good session last week before the fish shut down, i was of the water at 8.30am. Dean
  10. It's a Zipbait Rigge Deep, i originally bought it for bream. Looks like it's going to be a better trout lure. Bream Mad, i was fishing up near Oberon. I was in the mountains today on a 4wd trip. We had lunch on the Fish river, couldn't help myself and packed the rods. Managed a quick 20min session, dropped one fish and had a few more follows. The river looked in top condition, there were plenty of fish rising in some of the deeper pools. Dean
  11. I second Tom Groggin/Geehi beautiful spots with plenty of options. Unfortunately there popular and the they both get busy over Easter. There's good camping on the Eucembene up above Providence Portal. There's heaps of river to fish and Tantangara, Three mile dam and the Bidgee aren't far away if you want to explore a bit. Old Adaminaby, Yens Bay and Seven Gates also provide plenty of opportunity for camping. There are also several spots along the Thredbo river that may be worth a look. The area is popular over the Easter break, but you shouldn't have to many problems finding a spot to camp. Cheers, Dean
  12. I had the day off today and was keen to get a fish in regardless of the weather reports. With the predicted rain and storms i was hopping to hit the Bass early and then head up into the mountains and try for some Trout. Left the yak at home and hit the river on foot. I fished a short, shallow section of river with a few rapids and some deeper pools. The Koolabung fizzer proved itself once again, accounting for most of the fish. Once the action slowed on the surface i switched to soft plastic and landed a few more. Two fish measured 38cm with the rest around 25cm. After lunch i headed for the mountains. It's been about 5 months since my last trout session, after reading some of the other reports i was keen to get amongst them myself. The river looked to be in reasonable condition as i pulled up and It was cool, overcast with not a breath of wind. I was testing a new lure out today and with a follow after my second cast things were really looking good. Over the next 30min nothing, no follow, no bump, i didn't even spook a fish(which is very unusual for me), i was starting to think i should have stayed in Sydney. But all that was about to change. In the very next pool i had a reasonable brown charge out from the shallows and attack the lure, he missed and then quickly lost interest. Still no fish but my confidence was lifted. A couple of minutes later another brown shoots out and smashes the lure, after a short fight a lovely brown is landed. After that the action didn't stop, i landed a fish or had a follow in the next five pools, all browns. I ended up with seven fish between 20cm-42cm The funny thing is I've only ever caught rainbows in this river before, and i didn't even see one this trip. Cheers, Dean
  13. Nice Cod, well done Looks like nice place to spend a day fishing. Dean
  14. There some top fish :1yikes:and a great session well done. Wish i could get'em that big up my way, i'll certainly keep trying. How late in the night did you fish? Cheers, Dean
  15. There a couple of nice looking fish. Out of interest i decided to have a look through my photo records to see if i could get a better angle of the fish. It turns out the fish in the second photo and the last photo are the same. I think it's a bass?
  16. Thanks for the info Hooky, looks like i'll have a few more month's of good fishing. Iceman I try to get on the water as much as possible at the moment, if you have time afternoon or morning let me know and well try and arrange a trip before the bass move on. Cheers, Dean
  17. Hi Yes Dear I've never been to Binacrombi before but i have camped in the Abercrombie NP about a year ago. The river through the park is not in good shape(green and stagnant). Did try for trout, but i think i was wasting my time. I've also checked the river out were the Oberon-Goulburn road crosses it. Water was dirty and full of carp. Don't no if all the rain we've been getting has made any difference, the river looks pretty good on there web site. Binacrombi itself looks alright, fairly popular with bike riders. It could be noisy over weekends. Looks like the camping would be good, might want to ring the caretakers to see if any ones been catching trout down there lately. Cheers, Dean
  18. Had a quick fish up around Camden this morning. Managed to land a couple of fish and drop a few more. The fishing seems to have slowed up a bit after all the rain, hopefully that will change when the river clears a bit more. Does anyone no when the Bass start heading back down river to spawn? Just trying to figure out if i should be fishing further up river after all the rain. Cheers, Dean
  19. Pretty sure it was a bass. The fish were caught around Camden, I'm not sure if EP's would move that far into the fresh?
  20. Top session, and some nice bream to break in your new outfit. Looks like it's going to get plenty of work. Was that the NW pencil you were using or the Sammy. Cheers, Dean
  21. That's a top fish. Well done Good to see there's plenty of fish in the river's up there.
  22. Well done guys, thats a great session. It's well worth the walk down there when your catching bass like that. Did you get them over the weekend? Dean
  23. Hi all Thanks for the advice. I did see a few other raiders out there, just don't know who you all are yet. I'll cut my last bait up next time, and the rest will go down with a two hook rig. Cheers, Dean
  24. After all the raiders king reports i was keen to get out try my luck. The aim for the day was to get brooke her first king, and hopefully score one myself. Hit the water a bit late, 7am. With the late start i didn't like our chance off catching a few squid. Luck was on our side today, and we manage to pick up 4 within 20 min's. Not wasting any more time we headed back to our chosen spot. What a difference 30min's makes, there were two boats there on the way out and 10+ when we got back. Not wanting to waste any more time i quickly rigged up a rod and gave it to Brooke. We don't have a downrigger so i dropped the electric and started to slowly move through the area. Within minutes Brooke was on. After a few runs and plenty of arm stretching brooke's first king hit the boat. At 64cm she was more than happy . After a few quick photo's the fish was released. We manage another king at 62cm, with the remaining squid. Both kings were taken on the smaller bait's. The two larger squid were pinched without hooking up. Is there any way i can increase the hook up rate, or should i have cut them up and used them as strip bait's? Cheers, Dean
  25. Top session Netic, you really no your kings. I was also there trying to catch some kings, heaps of boats out there, didn't seem to stop you catching those kings. GREAT STUFF.
