    Slimeys Or Yakkas

Never really rock fished but in general i went with other and would probably use squid. I prefer to use it and catch a lot of them so they're my number one bait most of the time, i wouldn't say no to a slimey though and prefer them over yakkas. They seem to be favoured by more fish, and they are more fun to catch especially on really light line Cheers Josh

    Live Chat

In there most of the time if anyone wants a chat
  3. Steve as Nanook said just about every tackle shop has them. You can get them for $10-$20 most have 2 speeds and just take one of the rectangular batteries, they aren't the greatest quality but better than not having one at all. Make sure you keep changing the water in your bucket. You can get a better quality one for about $70-$80 which would do the job more efficiently but up to you what you want to spend. Good luck up there. Cheers Josh
  4. Have to say GT's for sure. Absolute powerhouse, best fun i've ever had catching them on poppers!!
  5. Never really thought about it like that, i guess its always going to be better than shop calamari but you still just accept and eat that, so may as well with the arrows i guess. Just want it to be the best it can

    Guitar Boat

I'd heard about this but hadn't seen it. Good job whoever made it, although probably wouldn't be too good in a big swell
  7. Do you leave it out or put it in the fridge?? Also guys, we caught ridiculous amounts of squid last time and had problems with keeping it in good condition for use as bait. It would start to really smell and even the pinkies and jackets would prefer packet squid We were keeping the heads and tubes in buckets of water but that obviously didn't work. I'm guessing just put it aside straight away in a zip lock bag and into the freezer?? Also can you kill squid other than chopping its head off?? Cheers Josh
  8. Lucky. Have to settle for it from fish and chip shop tonight
  9. Probably would have to say the king. Still haven't got any monsters, biggest is only 5kg. Although once i've caught a tuna or maybe marlin out of Sydney i might have a new favourite. Here's a few from a couple of months ago. Cheers Josh
  10. Hi Guys, I would probably have to say that freshly caught calamari squid is one of my favourite things to eat. I know there will be an overwhelming response saying that calamaris are better and i completely agree but when we're at cottage pt all we seem to get are the arrows. So basically i just want to hear people's opinions on eating arrow squid as i've heard from some it can be a bit tough a rubbery. Cheers Josh

    New Goodies

Well after much deliberation i have finally purchased a new light outfit. Reel=Shimano Sustain 2500 Rod=Shimano T-Curve Tournament 2008, 2-5kg 661 Spin Can't find a good pic Loaded up with 6lb Daiwa TD Sensor Braid That cost about $550 all up but add another $100 for the lures and other goodies i got Cheers Josh
  12. Good report mate, sounds like things were getting pretty hairy, glad you got out of it safely though. 8kg Salmon is bloody enormous especially in Sydney, have to be up around 90cm or so? Don't suppose you got any pics?? Cheers Josh

    What Is This?

Looks like a big coi/goldfish type thing. That would explain why it was dead in the saltwater Some sort of wrasse i'd say otherwise
  14. Thats pretty annoying that you can only get it with the pro range, they should sell little tubs of it. Anyone got Starlo or Bushy's number
  15. Great work Billy. What time were you out on the water? Cheers Josh

    Live Bait

Good advice mate, i'm sure any fish that see's that swimming will eat it without much thought. Great having your own fresh bait supply. Cheers Josh
  17. They are a bit inconsistent mate. I find them hanging around the markers at Quarantine Bay and Dobroyd head when they're around. Should be some more when the water gets really warm. Cheers Josh
  18. You could try WIRES, RSPCA or maybe even fisheries, might be a bit of a handful though.
  19. How much are you willing to spend?? T-curve 2009 will set you back about $240-great rod though Josh
  20. Great king mate, thats your 2nd one over a meter in recent time isn't it? Sounds like theres some good ones holding in Botany, nice if there were more in the harbour Josh
  21. Geez thats a good squid. I envy the amount of calamari you could have-savour it Did you get a measurement on its hood length? Cheers Josh
  22. Great bream mate, thats a nice big one, 2kg is a good size. Nice on the muddie as well, bet that tasted good. Add your photo to catch of the month and brag board if you want-its all up to you! Cheers Josh
  23. Geez, things certainly have changed a lot. Although you probably would need a grenade to stop some of those bass, crazy from the footage i've seen.
  24. I fish there when at a mates holiday house, generally go out the boat and i don't know the area that well but i think if you can access the shore around Rip Bridge that would be worth a go, flatties, jewies, whiting, bream. May be a bit hard during the strong part of the tide though. Josh
