  1. Sounds like a pretty nice day, too bad you didn't have a king trying to pull you in still got a feed and a few fish which is better than nothing. The yaks seem to be the go at the moment-plenty of people catching fish out of them. Cheers Josh
  2. I'm looking at getting a reel in probably 2000 or 2500 size, i'm more weighing up between either getting a stradic or taking a step up and getting this but i'm not sure if its going to be worth paying an extra $110 when the stradic is still a good reel. I'll mainly be targeting bream+ flatties with lures on 4-6lb line. The twin power has sizes 1000, 2500 then up to 4000. The 1000 holds 140yds or 4lb so that should be adequate. If i was to compare it with reels in the same price range i'd probably be looking at the TD Sol: New series real four concept spinning reel. Featuring Air Ball, Silent cross wrap oscillation , inifite AR, Digi GearII Drive system, Hyper Tournament waterproof drag, Machined aluminium handle, six ball bearings, ABS spool, Washable construction and micro precision click adjustable drag. Plus spare spool. Price=$265 or a TD Advantage Features - real four concept, aluminium body and sideplate, braid friendly airbail, silent cross wrap oscillation, infinate anti reverse, digigear II drive system, hyper tournament waterproof drag, machined aluminium handle, 6 stainless steel ball bearings inc. 2 CRBB bearings, twistbuster II, ABS aluminium spool with titanium nitride ring, washable construction, micro precision click adjustable drag, spare spool. Price=$270 Any comments/suggestions are appreciated. Cheers Josh
  3. Great fish, looks nice and fat. I'd say he's over 40 for sure. Cheers Josh
  4. I guess in that case ours is pretty mixed. We do a lot of vertical stuff with baits for kings and other bits but thats mainly when baitfishing. With lures it seems to be more horizontal, casting flats for flatties or into a pack of feeding pelagics. Josh
  5. Sorry Byron but i don't really have any idea what those methods are-could you explain them a bit? Cheers Josh Edit-think i get it now
  6. Can't advertise other websites/businesses-read the site rules
  7. Great fish, sounds like changing lures was a good choice. Did u keep or release her? Josh
  8. Hi all, Just wondering if anyone knows much about this reel. I haven't seen it before and it looks pretty nice and am considering buying it. Physically it looks a bit like the fireblood but doubt its as good internally. Features - waterproof aluminium frame, waterproof drag system, double anodised spool, arc/propulsion system, one piece bail, power roller, super stopper 2 and a free spare spool. 7+1 bearings. Price=$300 Cheers Josh
  9. You're one of the lucky few i'd say. Any ideas about who did it?
  10. They aren't really fishing directly under their boat though
  11. Looks like you got that canoe set up very nicely, good to get a king with the new gear as well-always good to feel rewarded like that. Must've spooled someone else whilst they were squidding
  12. Bad luck you couldn't get into anything mate. What line were you trolling with? There are some mighty big kings that hang around North Head, that might've been what spooled you. Josh
  13. I like the sky in the first one but i think the sun looks too small and isn't glowing enough like the 2nd but thats probably a bit much. Put them together maybe
  14. Disappointing you couldn't get into any kings while you were down here. They are some good bream though, not terribly common to get a lot of keeper's like that in the main harbour. I find that we're usually overrun with little snapper and leatherjackets rather than sweep and trevally. I don't mind the trevs, they mix it up a bit unless they are really small. Bad luck with the weather, it just has a way of screwing up a lot of good things in life. Hopefully you'll have some luck next time you come down Cheers Josh
  15. I always leave our on. Had no idea it could affect the fish Anyone know more about this? Josh
  16. Good type of fish to brand the boat with. My first jewies were all that size and am still yet to top it Sounds like a lot of little soapies throughout h'bury at the moment, sign of good things to come hopefully
  17. Awesome fish. Big powerhouses those fish, wouldn't been great to see the first one though, there's definitely some big ones down there.
  18. Great job Dave. Thats a good capture on lure especially, well done on the PB as well.
  19. Not yet mate, not sure if they sent down the oil we asked for as well so have to clear a few things up.
  20. I reckon we'll be bringing our opti up to you Huey, could use the money saved on more fishing gear
  21. Mate, the depth varies a lot throughout the system getting shallow up around a lot of the oyster racks and near half tide rocks. If you do know your navigational markers then it will definitely make things a lot easier. If you're not too sure about certain areas just take it slow, good spots for flatties in the shallow areas-bit overfished though. Good Luck Josh
  22. Nice work Glenn and Mike. Decent bream there and a nice flattie-all you need now is a jewie to top it off Cheers Josh
  23. I hope i'm not getting ripped off. We have an Optimax 75 and its just been in for its 20hr. All up it cost just over $600, this was made up of : anti-corrosion treatment=$3 Materials=$15 Grease/gear box oils=$40 3 bottles of DFI oil (4L bottles) = $48 each= $144 20hr service labour: price=$90, quantity=4?? total=$360 new anchor=$45 All up=$607, disregard anchor and oil i guess so brings it down to $417-is that about right or a bit steep?? Cheers Josh
  24. I thought kings didn't grow much past 2metres-thats a nutter fish if so. Good fish mate-nice if it was 1.3m though Josh
  25. Great photos Greg. Looks like its living up to its reputation well and truly. That is a little sampson, bit different to the old bream Cheers Josh
