  1. The uni is my first preference as well-very strong versatile knot thats easy to tie. I always do much more turns in braid though atleast 7 usually depending on the length of the tag-i usually just go as many as i can fit. With stronger mono leaders i've found 3 turns to even be enough just make sure you pull it tight but i try and get 4. Cheers Josh
  2. What a great looking fish-very similar to the coral trout. Don't think i've seen one before, very nice.
  3. Well i'd like to get a 10kg king in the harbour. And atleast a 10kg jewie anywhere. Bit more focused on my HSC though Josh
  4. Great fish, can't get over GTs-they are just such an awesome fish to be connected with. Sounds like WA is producing the goods at the moment
  5. Great report, sounds like a heap of great eating fish. No wind as well always makes it easier to fish in, a cool sea breeze probably would of been nice in 40degrees though. Looking forward to some pics. Cheers Josh
  6. haha-love the smartass approach Won't do you any good though
  7. Nice Fish. Good to see the harbour's firing up-should be a cracker through December/January. Josh
  8. Yes i was never too sure. I thought that you were only supposed to use the belly of the fish but there is never enough there in the same thickness you get it in restaurants-that would explain it. Thanks Slinky
  9. Great to finally hear the excitement is beginning Can't wait to get out there-still a good few weeks though Was it the charter guys with the purple boats? Cheers Josh
  10. Brilliant. Love the ways us aussies think
  11. Those are pretty much the same as what i was talking about, ours just have a slightly different top and we mount them at about 30-45*(degrees)
  12. Sounds good. Where is Hen and Chicken Bay though? Josh
  13. Good solid reels the baitrunners-we have a couple of 4500s and they do the job well. The cheapest i've seen the 6500 going at the moment is $195-PM me if you can't find cheaper anywhere else but i'd say you probably will be able to. Cheers Josh

    Joe Dirt

Don't get me started-any movie that they rip off in even worse movies like Date Movie and Epic Movie are obviously terrible, Samuel L Jackson is a good actor but why he got involved in a movie like that i'll never know.

    Uss New York

Ironic and inspriational-good to see it isn't going to waste.
  16. Hey mate, The plastic ones can be pretty dodgy and very expensive when fishing for kings-with damage and lost gear, some have lost Stellas. We have rail mounted stainless steel ones and once they are tightened then i can hang off them and they won't move which is 80kg of weight so i reckon they are very good but the screw that connects them to the clamp comes a bit loose when your driving the boat in choppy conditions which means you just have to tighten them before you go back out again. Not sure of the brand but they were ordered as extras by our dealer when everything was getting fitted on our boat. Might be an idea to talk to your dealer about it or just have a flick through some of the catalogues like BIAS and other boating shops, they have very similar ones which should do the job well. Or you can get them welded onto the rails and the most certainly will not move. Cheers Josh
  17. Well kings a little bit bit, but for me its definitely the GT's. Had the chance to fish for them last year and found it the best fishing experience of my life to date, can't wait to have the opportunity to have a crack at some more. Maybe on Nomad Cheers Josh Edit: Am still after a decent Jewie-once i get one which will probably be on bait im sure i'll want to get a bigger one and another bigger one on lure
  18. Nice trip mate-we've had success out on the reef up there before. Very nice place to go. Josh

    What Rod

Theres quite a few to choose from mate, Daiwa Saltiga Jigging rods $500-600 Shimano Jig Wrex $250 Shimano T-Curve Deep Jig $265 Smith Offshore Stick WGJ $530 Some others as well. Or you could get a custom rod made up-talk to your local tackle guy about it. Cheers Josh
  20. Sounds like a good day out, nobody out there to ruin your fun either. How big were they? Cheers Josh

    Joe Dirt

Yes seen it. Wasn't great but i can certainly think of worse. E.g. Snakes on A Plane and The Eye-terrible movies.
  22. We've got an environet and find it quite good. It has some drag but its not like you should be dunking the whole net through the water. You only need to angle it down so the front is submerged and then the fish can easily get into it and it is still reasonably manouverable. I tend to go on the basis that you bring the fish to the net unless it is riskily hooked and you just want to get it safe. Water drains out fine but it can be bad with squid ink, although a lot of the time it just tends to sit in the net in a clump and you can just wash it out. Cheers Josh
  23. Great looking fish Wish i'd caught one that big
  24. Try in North Harbour-I've found small ones around some of the little beaches there near the start of the 4 knot zone. They aren't always there though. Josh
  25. Thanks for the replies guys. The only thing that puts me off with the Daiwa's in the 4.7:1 gear ratio-its ok but i find i can't pick up the slack fast enough when throwing lures at pelagics-thats whats leaning me towards shimano. Any other responses are appreciated. Cheers Josh
