  1. the bow also contributes to how spray is deflected especially in conditions you cant get speed up to use the benefits of that stern shape id rather a drier then more comfortable ride thanks huey
  2. i am moving to the country so sold my cruise craft explorer and decided to downgrade i ordered yesterday, a quintrex 420 renegade which is basically the same boat as the stacer 429 outlaw same as in whats above the water but below they both have different bottom shapes in a boat with such a wide beam stability isnt a issue so i went the quintrex with its finer entry point to handle the short chop you get on dams and bays coming from the same factory its bizarre they cant combine the evo rear with the quintrex front and have the best of both worlds. also bizarre the stacer is cheaper and the trailers are cheaper then going to a quintrex dealer even though its just different stickers on the trailer
  3. had a few v4 70 johnsons all were good had a few 3 cylinder 30 yamahas did lots of hours with these and never a problem

    FINS ON OUTBOARD

dont go a wing version ive also had a scary moment cornering at speed on a past boat, use a permatrim type if you have to go down this path polycrafts are heavy hulls and 50 is the max so not much you can do there can only look at engine height and props talk to solas props and see what they say, very helpful people they wil want to know what revs you are pulling and current prop size fitted

    FINS ON OUTBOARD

whats the problem you are trying to fix normally a bandaid for underpowered, wrong engine height, wrong prop.
  6. parsley bay is no better at night actually no Sydney metro or surrounds ramp is safe in the dark bored kids bored adults locals annoyed at the ignorant amongst us who want to run or flush their outboards at 3am at the ramp
  7. its a brand new boat take it back. do not do anything yourself as its under warranty for what both the manufacturer and the dealer did in fitting it out. ive seen people bugger their boats by literally filling it with water and buckling the bottom hull with the weight.
  8. aluminium base, stainless bolts and probably a different grade of stainless washer add saltwater and oxygen and its just going to happen over and over again
  9. it is probably powder coated sand back and use a touch up pen from a auto store

fisher jay even that's not correct at idle its something like 200 :1 or less, huey can confirm the oil is not put into the fuel its injected directly into the moving parts of the engine. im currently looking myself for a 115 and the pricing is pretty similar, although with the etec you will get better gauges and a stainless prop. running costs no matter what people tell me seem to be the same buying oil versus servicing and if doing a lot of hours can swing in favour of the 4 stroke but i am someone who will take it to a dealer ever 100 hours/12months anyway. in my situation all i am saving is a oil filter every 12 months also resale on any 2 stroke is woeful compared to a 4 stroke and trying to sell a boat with one is difficult
  11. any deals on outboards am after a 115 4 stroke could go tomorrow if anything special is being offered
  12. keep it clean and fully retracted when stored
  13. just another point if anyone is interested i dont get unburnt oil residue from the prop, so why would it come out there and not the prop ?
  14. can call them idiots i guess but everyone here has made a mistake while boating bungs out anchor left down whatever i was out that day and the weather was good so i opened it up a little more but used almost double my normal amount of fuel as the conditions were so good could have easily gone bad for me too if i wasnt watching the fuel guage
  15. can get a 27mhz and a am radio splitter but its cuts the range by a bit
  16. ok well telltale is hot to the touch if idling for more then 5 mins no need to check the thermostats? i assume it was just excessive idling over the last few months then
  17. thanks huey, it will you it will be brought to i just wanted to check it wasnt something stupidly easy to look at first the tell tale runs hot after a few minutes i switched to the xd50 after talking to you and the smoke was almost non existent and the prop was a grey colour and not black now i smoke the neighbours out ive seen unburnt oil come out of props before is it normal to leak between the leg there?
  18. fiberglassing is the most bastard job anyone could do and the cost will surprise you. sell the boat and buy one already done the auction sites are full of half finished projects
  19. i have a 2004 90hp johnson with the oms still connected and runing xd50 i noticed a thick black burnt oil running from th ejoin between the leg and the gear case. this hasnt happened before even though the engine gets a 5-10min run every weekend. the difference was i havnt used the boat for 2 months or so and figured it was unspent oil i took it out Saturday with a mix of high speed and downrigging and the smoke just wouldnt clear up to what i was use to on the xd50 there was bugger all smoke compared to the yama lube i was using. not very scientific measurements but basically before i could start it and not worry about where the smoke at all i tried the texter mark on the oil res but it uses bugger all and is impossible to accurately measure possible oms pump failure and over fueling ? air leak in fuel line causing pump to pump more ?
  20. make sure your comparing apples with apples price does not dictate whos best
  21. i guess what does the best paint prep mean when telwater themselves supplies boats with fittings like that battery swicth just screwed to the hull ive had a 385 explorer a 435 hornet and another hornet with things like glove boxes with screws straight into the hull rod holders just screwed into the hull drill shavings left in the bottom of the floor basically all fittings just screwed in with no effort at seperation of differing metals telwater are the premium mass produced boat builder so not singling them out only as none of the mass produced guys make a effort in this area the old quinnies lasted because they were made from good quality australian aluminium with differing properties then what is in use today.
  22. we used 98 in our kart engines with synetic or full organic oils no dramas 18,000 - 22,000 rpm screamers 44hp from 125cc
  23. huey are they bringing out any other capacity engines in this new format ? ive seen the reports on 2 stroke v 4 stroke exhaust emissions but one i never see is unburnt oil residue or burnt oil particulate emission comparison
  24. 200hp isnt 200hp one could be a 2.3l engine the other a 3.0 l engine 2 stroke 4 stroke 2 stroke supercharged add different gear box ratios and no two engines both claiming 200hp are the same
  25. very well engineered and designed u tube commercials though.
