i cant give you a exact weight but you can work it out
yamaha 60hp 106kg
trailer 240kg
a new quintrex 470 coastrunner is 470kg
60l of fuel 52kg
anchor chain rope 30kg
so a base of 900kg
and by the time it has everything else added, spare tyre saftey gear radios second batteries and so on probably another 1-200kg
the mazda from memory can tow around 1600kg braked depending on year model and engine type
but beware most of them come with those cheap 750kg towbars

how did the tank go ?
i got to give my new tank a run last sunday could only catch 8 or so pike though lol
i need to cut the pickup down as just too much water was coming in, and if i closed the tap the pump couldnt work properly
anoying to have to open it every time we stopped
-
I'd be happy to do that, just need to know how much it is, and some instructions on how to install.
Fishingphase
ask the guy on that site how to do it ?
doesnt seem that cheap when you have to buy a manual as well off there
or buy it off huey and ask him, the mans not a chairty
-
nice work
i run a 360gph pump and you need a 50mm outlet to keep up, a 50mm outlet wont keep up with my stainless scoop at 50kph
so just use a inline tap
-
dont second guess call bp or shell direct they will answer your questions
new fuel does not blend 100% with old fuel, you cannot replace the volitile compounds which evaporate in a vented system
i still wouldnt put it in a car, even more so if premixed
and a outboard is just a flash lawnmower gaz
-
I went out on the weekend with 3 month old unmixed fuel
the life of old premix is considerably less then fuel with no oil in it
i just didnt run at wot no issues it ran fine
-
another vote for yammalube smells ok and little smoke
i have 5 4l bottles of gw sitting on the shelf that wont get used
it smokes a fairbit and i cant handle the smell of it and get ill when trolling for a few hours
-
I hear ya mate, I've got half a tank of 2 stroke fuel I don't know how to get rid of.
Fishingphase
my local mechanic will take it in his oil dump, but then i do get my wifes car serviced there
i dont get why people will ut old fuel in their expensive cars but not run it through their old carbed outboards
false economy
as long as it burns no issue, just dont ring its neck and risk the issues of pinging due to low octane of old fuel
-
As mentioned, of it's not too much of a pain, I'd definitely have a play with it at home. I've spent way to much fishing time playing with it!
Cheers Leo
if your near st clair you can have a look at my unit with th emap installed for comparison
these are cheap units and they have made it that way by not inc maps, the vague australia map can 50-100km out
-
the map is just a token map and is off by up to 100km
i have the same unit as a backup gps, you have to add a navionics map to get a acurate shore coast line
the cheapest is the silver map for $130 which i have, it shows depths round the edges but no contour or depth lines elsewhere

Hi, just want to ask if anyone here if they have jack plates on their boat. My transom is only "15". It’s hard to get a short shaft engine with forward steer, and power tilt and trim. The boat has been restored so i don’t really want it to look that bad. Well need a rise of 5inch so i can fit a "20" long shaft. Can anyone here put any pics up of their jack plates so I can see how they look and what styles there are. Also well it put more presure on the transom. The motor I got is 50hp but well be willing to go down to a 40hp. Boat is only 3.7m, rising the transom is expensive but might go down that track. Will be keeping the boat for at least 5yrs.
dont really wont it to look like the pic below. And heres pic of my boat with 50 mercury, which i want to change motor, just not sure which way to go. dont really want to spend more than 5k.
have a google around or a search on other sites.
i know people have just used 10mm thick ally plates which can be bought cheap from aluminium supply companys
again talk to someone in th eknow reguarding what thickness to use but people are hanging 150hp plus off just a plate of ally, as long as two holes are going through the transom
as a guide a i got a 600mm x 600mm piece of 20mm thick ally for $50 from my local guy

i have a scotty 1050 and its ok
but save your pennies and get one with a longer boom as it just makes life so much easier, and turning is easier as well
i plan to get rid of the scotty and get one of the aussie mades you can find online

Did anyone notice the yak on the Lowrance stand?
The sounder/chartplotter was big enough for an offshore marlin charter boat!
My missus would KILL me!
So much for yaks being a budget option!
You could buy a tinnie, motor and a years worth of fuel for that!!
I agree though, plenty of good seaworthy/fishable boats in the 5m category, set up and ready to roll...
i didnt go this year, mainly because i wasnt in the market for the boat and two so many tackle shops are having sales and big sales to boot
the cost to get the family to the boat show parking some food bought me a tld25 and rod 5 yamashita jigs and pizza tonite for the kids
-
i have a furuno 620 and its a awesome bit of kit but you have to play with them just like any sounder to get it to work well, 1200 odd with transducer
water temp fresh in the bay you have to adjust them every time you go out
last trip out i had baby snapper showing on the bottom and salmon above them and bigger kings cruising in and out of the mayhem
dedicated sounder and gps units always combined units are a compromise on screen space and not worth the hassle

Get a thorough inspection done a mate had diesels replaced in his 38 footer the bill was around 60k
One engine ingested water and died so he replaced both

Is any body running an aluminium trailer? I read some where that an alloy trailer is roughly the same price as a steel unit (I have never priced one)? If so I would be interested to know the difference in weight and durability?
the quotes i got recently from a few yards made aluminium 1500-2k dearer
dunbier gal $3800
mackay alumnium %5662
pretty similar trailers in weights held etc
there is a chinese alloy trailer being sold in sydney, for the same if not alittle less then a aussie built gal trailer
some aussie trailers are having issues with bolts holding crossmembers on vibrating loose and moving and elongating the bolt holes leading to cracks
the issue is holes drilled to close to the beam edge
the chinese trailers i saw had bolt holes even closer to the edge so i wont consider them
-
Recently went through the process and ended up with a Sales Trailer. All aussie and well priced too.
thanks guys ill go talk to sales, cheapest claimed aussie trailer i could find so far is barracuda up in qld, im u there every few months so no ta issue to tow one back
ill see what sales have to say

Generally with seats it's cheaper to buy new then recover
I had two ski buckets and bought new for $100 less each then getting them repaired
The other stuff cushions headline bed foam etc you have no choice but to use a reupholsterer they will prob charger more as well unless they can get their truck right next to the wharf it's moored too
Between $50-$80 a hour plus materials
As a guide my Neighbour just had his ski boat redone
Two bucket seats and one ench seat and mates rates price was $1200 full price was $1600
Did they pull the boat out of the water and anti foul the hull and inspect the legs ?
-
pandering to the charters who launch there
they are just going to push it to the right hence lossing a pontoon not adding
people don't use the furthest right as they couldnt back their trailers down it, i loved it as it was always free
its three wide atm and one on the right against the wall, but considering the quality of peoples reversing you generally only see two launched at once down the middle
-
Hi. Where can I find the full details on this regarding older trailers? How old is old?
the old rules apply to trailers registered pre 1981
but this is irrelevant if your boat and trailer exceed 750kg and your pulled over even with a 981 model trailer you will be booked
rta nsw are a pack of fools as they now have a term "loaded weight" and dont seem to use atm gvm anymore
this is what i believe to be correct
ATM is the weight of the trailer and its load Aggregate towing mass
GTM is the weight on the wheels ( excludes Ball weight) Gross towing mass
Ball weight is usually obtained by subtracting the GTM from the ATM.
0 – 750 kg loaded weight – no brakes required.
751 – 2000 kg loaded weight – braking on both wheels
on at least one axle.
2001– 4500 kg loaded weight – braking on all wheels
i tried calling them and they couldn't explain it to me what is loaded weight
so i err on the side of caution, if the whole rig is over 750kg sitting there on the trailer it needs brakes
-
My current trailer neds replacing, too much rust in the cross members and it needs brakes which it doesnt have
i put it across a weigh bridge yesterday and it weighs all up 995kg with fuel
i will probably end up getting a dunbier for $3800
but was seeing if anyone has any experience with the other aussie brands out there
i do not want a chinese imported trailer
your views or experiences will be appreciated

Just pack up and move

Anglapro are also a very well made boat
Telwater are far from the best in terms of weld and paint quality
But they sure can take over company's and churn out volume

club marine told me they dont cover any items in a boat that's left in the open with just a cover on, this also includes behind a locked gate
read your policies your only covered for whats in the contract that "you" sign
