  1. 16/0 hooks for blueye and gemfish . I use 400lb mono all the time on my hooks and trace , 50lb breakaway of a metre and 1 metre or blind cord or something similar to the sinker or weight . Cheers John.
  2. Here's a pet blue shark that I filmed last week that I handfeed , don't believe in hooking these creatures many gamefisherman would have jumped at the opportunity as the record is 188 kg this shark was bigger than that. Cheers John
  3. Thanks for the pictures Nathan , the shark was bleed iced and was not wasted , even the jaws were kept . I don't believe in killing if you don't eat it . Cheers John..
  4. Fish of a lifetime well done ... Solid effort
  5. The conditions got a lot wilder yesterday after 3 pm fished till dark well done on keeping the punters happy...
  6. The greens and polititions are always doing side deals Jack Mackeral are ( yellowtail or yakkas ) red bait we dont see in NSW but they are all food for our gamefish . 18000 tonnes is NINE HUNDRED THOUSAND , 900,000 full fish boxs of fish that doesnt even help Australias seafood market as it will all go overseas. At say 1 dollar per kilo x 18,000000 kilos someone is making a huge profit 18 million dollar haul plus. Cheers Dogtooth... John.
  7. Well done Andrew , Good to see squid around in numbers and the odd good king showing up . Cheers Dogtooth.....
  8. Great start to the New Years , the efforts of not having a big night sure paid off . Cheers John.
  9. I totally agree with the Stabi craft boats as being a harsh ride , Take the ricky martin cd and play she bangs , she bangs cause thats what they do . How big is your budget ? and what is your current tow car ? no point looking at a glass boat without a 4wd . cheers John...
  10. Botany Bay boat ramp on foreshore road has cctv cameras looking at some areas of the car park , have a look when you are there next i always try and park in the view of them . cheers John.
  11. Great Snapper looks like the conditions were kind. cheers John..
  12. Hi kit , Cook the alfonsino as if it were a snapper , superb on the plate . Cheers John.
  13. Hi everyone , Well managed to fish on page one and it was its maiden trip to Browns , fished the bottom and bagged out on gemmies and one blueye for our troubles and off in search of some yellowfin , it was only the second time the boat had fished for yellowfin and luckly it still has a perfect record for the season , could have been a little better but got pestered by sharks and managed one lone ranger yft . Well done on the rod work reece. Nathan Blueye Reece tuna cheers Dogtooth ..... John.....
  14. Great report joey , will come for a look next time . Cheers John.
  15. No it wasn't us , we launched from botany and were in a trailerboat. Cheers John
  16. Hi everyone , with solid reports of Bluefin outwide , Myself and ( sideshow ) were keen to get amongst these bruisers we managed to get ( joco joey ) as an extra and head wide . A quick stop at browns and we soon had our bag of gemmies , dealing with seals and sharks at the moment is another matter , be prepared with lots of rigs on standby . Well we then dropped the lures in and headed east from browns looking for the temp break we found a good patch of water along way wide and started the cube trail after an hour the first rod screamed and the greenhorn joco was soon into his first fish not long after we had a second hookup , double joco fought his fish well and it was soon gaffed and laying on the deck . Yellowfin cherry popped, sideshows fish was a handfull and fought in every direction possible , it certainly was a one off fish when gaffed it went crazy and parted the gaff in two . I certainly wasnt letting go , It then dove deep untill it was back up and gaffed with another gaff . tally 2 fish on board . With our cube trail still going i hooked up minutes later on a similar size fish and it was soon laying deckside . After that we didnt see another bit of action , Im sure there is a Bluefin with mine or daves name on it . we then headed west for our journey home to dryland . Well done to Ivan on his bluefin run as late , and joco for his great effort. Cheers Dogtooth.... John....
  17. Greg l is spot on there is a big white rock boulder half way along the wall of longy , it does hold kings , mostly in summer and be there early in summer as it is a renowed dive spot and you will struggle once there are divers there. Bubble observation divers. Cheers John .
  18. Great fish on 15 kg , those tuna steaks will be tasty , looks close to 80 kg and definitely 7 slabs long . Cheers dogtooth John .
  19. Great report Would have been fun on the popper rods. Looks like the fish moved north and thursday and friday were the days to be there , got there Saturday and the fishing was good but not as hot as the previous days as the saying goes should have been here yesterday. Just hope the weather is good when they swim past Sydney ... Cheers Dogtooth.... John....
  20. Well Done Great capture out of Sydney fish of a lifetime , Did it take a squid bait and were you running any light sticks etc ? Also how worn was the mouth area around the hook ? . cheers Dogtooth..... John
  21. Great Video , Was fishing the mountain on Saturday out of a white sharkcat managed a couple of blueye and went tuna trolling by 10 am as the bottom seemed slow fishing , maybe should have stuck with it for a couple more drops . There were alot of boats out there . cheers Dogtooth...... John.....
  22. Sounds like they were lucky they were not wearing lifejackets in that situation as they would have had no chance in getting out of an upturned hull with them on . Pretty much impossible to swim underwater wearing one , let alone take one off whilst your being pounded by swell in a dark enviroment thats if there is any air gaps to breathe.. So keep this in mind, maybe a lifejacket drill for all those onboard , just like home fire drills .... anything can happen . cheers Dogtooth..... John......
  23. Great report Greg , Double walk out to the Dam would have been frustrating Great effort on the PB Look forward to round 4 . cheers Dogtooth..... John.....
  24. Hi Fishraiders , Anyone know the owner of the boat Delfini , owner Theo . The reason im asking is i was in a Hock shop today and whilst i was looking thru the fishing gear spooted some custom made lures with this guys name in it , The lures are Aussie made and i would find it hard for any fellow fisherman to put his lures in such a place . So i put a deposit on these so as they wont go walkabout but am trying to find the owner and hopefully some fellow raiders might just know this guy , Who knows what else he may have lost , hopefully justice and the return of some gear would be a great outcome . Just PM me if anyone knows any thing . Cheers Dogtooth..... John.....
  25. Well done on your PB and metre king . Now some will come easy some will just fight all the way but the fish that usually bust you off are the biggest of the school and are the ones you hook when you first get there, drag not adjusted to its limits knots from last trip or several trips ago , still half asleep the list goes on but always be ready for the biggest fish of the day as the first fish you hook Cheers Dogtooth....... John...
