  2. Well done Gary Nothing better than catching a fish out of your own boat , Hope you crack some more with summer currents looking good . My estimate is around the 65kg mark . Have a look at this link , dont forget to take away about 60 cm for the bill. Love the knife shot for COTM http://www.csgnetwork.com/fishsaltwtcalc.html Cheers Dogtooth.... John....
  3. Hi Everyone , I guess like road rage , boat rage is now taking its toll on the water as more and more boats are getting out each year . In the last couple of months i can list a couple of great ones like the guy in Botany Bay checking my crab trap on christmas eve Im sure he will never check another trap . The other guy trolling a lure so it ran under my boat on a jetski and complaining he lost his best lure . As for the water offshore as long as i have enough room to land fish whilst fishing well you are far enough from me . As for towing and helping people out on the water everyone should do this first as i have seen so many people drive past people broken down . . I know of a couple of guys that had there V sheet out on New years day and water police drove straight past . The water is for all to share . Cheers Dogtooth...... John....
  4. Hi Everyone , Totally agree you will lose a lot of bigger fish due to line burn on the sliding snell , A fixed snell is better but should not be used on a straight shank hook as the eye of the hook will cut into your line under pressure . Tie on a fixed snell wear some glasses and do a test with some leader , you will see the snell fail at the eye every time . A snell should only be used on offset eye hooks . Hope this helps . Cheers Dogtooth...... John.....
  5. Good report there Dave , sorry to hear about the phone Dry your phone off as much as you can remove all covers , battery , etc place a small amount of uncooked rice in a container place the phone with all parts then fill to the top and place a lid on for a couple of days . The rice will absorb all moisture and is the cheapest quickest fix . cheers Dogtooth..... John....

  11. It is not in the Harbour or Hawkesbury system , Nearly all those bream were legal size , some would have been in the kilo mark . Video does not show the true size . cheers Dogtooth...... John.....

  17. Look in this picture below the whitings head and keys , lure weight was 4.5 grams. Boat drifting is when you have the motor turned off and you drift at the mercy of the currents or wind . That way you cover lots of ground . Have you been watching Fast and Furious lately ? or Drift racing ? Hope this helps.... cheers Dogtooth...... John....
  18. Good fish there must be a few swiming around . well done . cheers Dogtooth...... John......
  19. Im sure you were in the white Yak with 3 rods , and livie holder off the side. just after you passed us we dropped a few good flatties got to see them hooks just fell out , managed the jew and a bream closer to the bridge . cheers Dogtooth..... John.....
  20. Jewie had a better first run , whiting fought till all the way . didnt have a net so both fish were lifted in the boat under there bellys... Im no expert but i was doing a simple lift , retrieve the slack and make sure the lure was on the bottom before another quick lift of the rod . you can really feel the blade working . on plastics i use a doule flick . All caught on a boat drifting , casting ahead of the direction your boat is drifting. cheers Dogtooth..... John....
  21. Hi Everyone , Had a fish in Georges river using lures , tried blade styled lures today after the success of a few other good mates of mine and was more than impressed . Soapie jew , blackfish , bream , baby snapper , flounder and to top it off the biggest whiting i had ever caught on a lure . Blades sure got the thumbs up today.... PS water upstream of como is very dirty and we struggled to catch a fish due to this . Keys are for COTM. Cheers Dogtooth....... John....
  22. Well done Ray on your first plastics jew ... Cheers dogtooth.... john........
  23. Hi jimmy , There are so many variations to Coral trout but the ones with the dark markings are common coral trout . Any trout over 80cm are to be released due to upper size limit and i certainly would not be eating any trout over 70cm as cigutera is to much of a risk . There are no standard colours as i have seen them cross breed between themselves . Have a look at this link . www.reef.crc.org.au/publications/.../CoralTroutFlyer_000.pdf cheers Dogtooth..... John.....
  24. Good fish guys , As always its always better fishing north or south of sydney . Cheers Dogtooth..... John.....
