  1. Top report Jason... Well done on the JB king , top effort in shallow water.. Definately loads of bonito trolling the headlands around sydney at the moment , if you cant catch 10 in less than 10 minutes than you better make sure you took the plastic tubes off the hooks of your lures... Cheers Dogtooth.... John....
  2. Well done on your Metre king ... Big drags are a definite..... cheers Dogtooth..... John....

  5. Hi Scott , I would lower the motor one hole as the yamaha 17k prop on your motor should not be cavitating on tight turns with the trim fully down ... You will be lucky to lose 2 - 5 km/ hr off top speed , thats if you lose any at all. You may not have to buy this prop after all , in turn saving you money for other boating toys... Cheers Dogtooth....... John....
  6. Hi Scott , I run the same 115hp yamaha four stroke on a 5.6 metre aluminium centre console and am seeing the same top end speeds and similar revs , I also have fitted a permatrim as i carry heavy loads some days and have the 17 k prop. Now your boat is achieving the correct speeds and the correct revs it just sounds like you ned to trim your motor down all the way if you plan to do aggresive boat turns . Changing props to one of the others just to achieve 2 km/ hr faster is a big gamble as it may even go slower or be to big and your $ 1000 dollars plus will be wasted . Yamaha spent alot of money on t designing there props. If you do change over let us know the result But $ 1000 buys lots fuel.... Cheers Dogtooth.... John...
  7. Great Post Slinky , Makes me want to start lubricating all me reels . Now WD 40 in my opinion is safe to use , once on a charter trip i watched an older fella spray his baits while bottom fishing and he caught the most fish . . I even tried it once fishing the wide reefs of Gladstone on a long range trip , every bait i droped for 1 hour i sprayed and to be honest i caught red emperor, coral trout, and every other species not only that but they were big fish as for the other anglers fishing left and right of me, they all shook there heads . Even a few guys joined in on the wd 40 fishing . It sure was the talk of the night whilst eating at the anchorage with other guys still shaking there heads in disbelief . Now in saying that i have not sprayed my bait since but my rods and reels get sprayed after every use and i still catch fish ..... Cheers Dogtooth.... John...
  8. Huey I totally agree with service costs being quite expensive and being alot more compared to a 2 stroke engine, and with the ETEC generating more power as it is a 2 stroke engine , SST prop is a bonus as well . Now i am not being biased as i still have 2 other boats powered by 2 strokes and never had any issues with these but spending alot of time talking and seeing what the commercial guys run and seeing 3000 hours plus on alot of these motors made my decision quite clear . Some people like holden some like ford ..... Cheers Dogtooth..... John....
  9. Hi Anthony , I have just repowered my boat with a Yamaha 4 stroke and it is a AWESOME engine . Have a look at the New 70 hp 4 stroke yamaha that is due to be released 2010 probably at the boat show it has the bigger gearbox off the high thrust 60 hp yamaha is lighter than the 60hp as it has been lightened in a big way and is even lighter than the 75 hp ETEC . It would be worth the Wait. YAMAHA 118 kg VS ETEC 145 kg Attachment to large to add just copy and paste in google... [PDF] F70 Hot Sheet.indd Cheers Dogtooth..... John.....

  12. All the work certainly has stirred the bay up . Its a shame considering the bay was fishing so well last year .Guess i didnt miss much staying away . Its only going to get worse along our coastline when the DESAL plant pumps out pure salt water , it salt should have been stockpiled rather than pumped back into the ocean Cheers Dogtooth...... John...... .

    Whaling Boats

Hi everyone , Just found this footage that gives you the real picture of what happened on the southern ocean , I think that the goverment needs to act on the whaling fleet . The funny thing is that when the patagonian toothfish boats fished Australias waters they were chased halfway round the world and had there boats confiscated , Yet the whaling boats are free to do whatever . The skipper of the whaling boat should face Australian courts as it happened in Australian waters . http://www.seashepherd.org/matilda/video.html Cheers Dogtooth.... John....
  20. Well done on the Kings looks like you had perfect conditions at Spot " C " out of the harbour , They are only getting bigger every year..... Cheers ... Dogtooth...... John....
  21. Hi Everyone , well the last couple of months i didnt get to fish Botany Bay as much as i would have liked to, Had a couple of good fish hooked up late 2009 but got well and trully smoked..... with all the work in the bay the clear water was not present , in saying thist the bait and fish just were not there in numbers thats why the Harbour will fish better this year . Managed this fish that went 8.5 kg and over the metre mark along the cliffs but the bigger fish have been a little shy this year .... well lets see what 2010 has to offer... Cheers Dogtooth...... John.....

  25. Hi humesy , Are you sure that you are pushing the transducer down enough so it is locking in place ? or maybe the screws or bolts you used are stopping it from locking down ? I have 2 transducers both airmars and are both fine . just check to make sure you put it together correctly. Cheers John ....
