  1. Also if you have an iPhone and I guess android you can download "Avenza PDF maps." from the App Store. Then in the map store within the app download the JB marine park it's a free map. Its a new app to me but I'm pretty sure it will show your location on the map.
  2. That's a cracking breambo! Well done.
  3. Great report and magic fish. That's the first time I have heard of snapper busting up on the surface. A memorable day that's for sure.
  4. Thanks Oz Brett. Now back to reading for that test.
  5. Thanks Oz Brett if the Lowrance does that it sounds sensible to try and connect them. All the gear is good but it certainly takes some sorting. If that's the case I need to try and find the right cable ( $60 sounds rediculous but I guess there isn't much I can do about it). A boat name, register for MMSI number, update the EPIRB details to include MMSI. And join the coast patrol.
  6. I have the elite 7 combo and Lowrance link 5 VHF. I think they can be connected, I am curious if it's common or worthwhile. The radio has an alarm that goes off asking for the portion input. I think it can be turned off in settings.
  7. Thanks Steve, I will put the small pin hole at the top. My plan was to use a new skin fitting and in an electrical junction box so the conduit could run neatly down the inside of the tank. I realised to late that I need to remove the tank to change the fitting.
  8. During the week I changed my wire strainer on the back of the boat for a fitting with a 90 degree bend cut at the angle just lower than the bottom of the transom. My bait pump ( inside the transom) worked all day with no need to turn it off and on at all. I'm thinking my next mod is to change the hose to pressure hose and install a flow control fitting. I also want to get rid of the spray nozzle and plumb the water inlet down to the bottom of the tank.
  9. Like Squidmarks I am reading up on the VHF course at the moment. I am curious if the members with DSC equipped VHF radios have connected them to the GPS on their boat. Is there any benefit in doing so? It sounds like it isn't monitored by the coast stations.
  10. I'm reading up on this at the moment too. I have a couple of questions I might post a new topic for rather than hijack this one.
  11. Nice. Is that the inlet at the bottom of the tank?
  12. Looks the goods Col. What's the first mod on the agenda?
  13. What a nice arvo. Conditions look magic.
  14. Nice catch and release. What area were you in?
  15. Thanks for sharing Finnin. Great tips. It sounds like you have spent lots of time on the water.
  16. Nice fish on such a gorgeous day. You have to love that. Were the fish taken on paternoster or floaters Finin?
  17. Nice report Finin. What a great day to be on the water.
  18. If it's like yesterday it shouldn't be a problem.
  19. The leather jacket scam is when they snip off your rigs. That's what I was expecting when I opened this post anyway.
  20. How deep is the peak? I haven't really been out enough to answer your question properly.
  21. The current was good yesterday, much slower than a few weeks ago.

Thats a great catch, a top start to the morning. You smashed the fishraider record.
  23. The snell is a completely separate piece of line from your leader and really just a series of wraps around the top hook putting friction on the leader to allow sliding under tension. There really is quite a bit on you tube and the knot sites that shows it better than words ever will. Have you used or seen one before if not maybe you should buy one in a tackle store at least you will know what your aiming for. If you want a fixed two hook rig you can use a different knot for that.
  24. Thanks I haven't tried braid I might give it a whirl.
  25. I find getting the right line for the actual snell can make it a bit easier. As long as your main line goes through the hook eye it's the main line strength that matters. So I usually just use 20 lb mono for the actual snell. When I put the main line through I only go to about the bend in the hook if it's too far it makes it to awkward. If your around Holsworthy PM me and drop in if you like.
