  1. That thing is huge, I bet it could pump out some ink. Great report.
  2. I agree. My old boat had a rule pump mounted on the back of it with a pickup below. It was at least 6 or 7 years old and I had no hassle at all.My new boat has the pump built in. I haven't laid eyes on it yet. It has a strainer mounted on the transom and must be just inside. It regularly stops pumping but I can hear it still spinning. Switch it off and on and it starts working again. So it seems to have an airlock of some kind that sorts itself once it's turned off. You now have me thinking of the solution. As it is quite frustrating when I think the pump is going and it's not. Maybe a need a different pick up that works from the bung plug type setup. I might try and unscrew the floor to see how it's set up. The last thing I want to do is force water in it can't handle. The other option maybe an inline timer will solve it without me thinking about it. Does anybody have thoughts on this? Benzeenees I definitely think it's a pickup problem. Maybe post some pictures of the back of the boat and the setup. If you haven't tossed the old pumps out you may have a few perfectly good pumps!
  3. If the hole in the float is too big for the stopper knot you just need to use a small bead above it with a smaller diameter hole. I use fishing maniacs knot with a bobby cork. It's probably the simplest land based. What length rod do you use? For the balloon I use cross fires method as well. You tie the knot in the balloon and just push a loop of line through the knot before you pull it tight. This won't help you cast out from rocks or a wharf. So from a boat I put my livey in the water beside the boat drop it down a few metres ( I have a small sinker above the livey usually). Than inflate the balloon and connect to the line and let the wind do the rest. If the wind is in your favour you can float it way off the boat. That way you can drop another weighted livey near the bottom under the boat. You can float a pillie out in your trail lightly or unweighted. You can keep plenty of distance between your rigs so there is no tangles.
  4. Wow when I first read you were targeting Gummies in Sydney I thought it was hugely optomistic. I had seen the odd report but generally by catch. Well that's what I thought but you guys came up trumps. Well done. What a great result getting them the first time targeting them. Sounds like you need a bigger esky.
  5. Today was the day I had planned to fish with a mate. It wasn't to be so I was off on a solo trip again. I hit the water about 6:30 and headed out and down the coast. I spent some time playing around with the electronic gadgetry before dropping down in 30 metres picking up two flatties straight away. Thinking I had struck gold I spent the next couple of hours bringing up undersize ones. As soon as the bait hit bottom bang another one. Tried 40 metres same result..... 50 meters and I found the jackets [emoji35] I headed back up and decided on trolling as I got closer to the Bommie. I picked up a Tailer on my heavier setup. Next up I decided to target squid. Quickly got one, with the day quickly disappearing I didn't persist for long. The last stop for the day back in the river I managed 3 Trevors and kept two. They really are a fun fish to catch on light gear. After umpteen last casts I called it a day. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  6. I'd pick Oatley although I haven't used it for a long time. George's hall and Moorebank flower power are the only others.
  7. Are you having them removed? Just one of many good reasons, better visibility into the water, far less chance of a hook in the eye.
  8. That's a great land based session. Well done
  9. Thanks. I was just lucky it came together on the day. Thanks mate. Ta. Send me a PM
  10. It is about time you made your first post down south. It seem only fair whilst this was your day whilst mine was more like this Yeah, yeah we are due for another trip soon. Its been a few years now.
  11. Finally the stars aligned and I had a rare chance for a weekday fish. After taking the kids to school I was off, headed for the hacking. Today I decided I was going to target squid solo. After trying various spots I finished up with 9 and dropped 1 good one at the boat fumbling the net. The water temp was in the 16s and pretty murky compared to the Hackings usual standard. 12. Congrats on your baby girl and great effort turning a slow day into a good one. The water was the same temp last week in the bay and pretty dirty on the runout.
  13. It would be a shame if the Marina affects water skiing in that part of the river. When I was young not much of the river was able to be skied on and it was further reduced by the m5. The area of the proposed marina is already a hole pretty much so the site either needed to be remeadiated or turned into a Marina I think the Marina is cheaper. I can imagine the locals liking more cafe type area but it wouldn't rank as somewhere I'd like to keep a nice boat! Its a pretty slow trip even to get to the bay. The Brick Pit site was filled with the excavated material from the Cross City Tunnel. It will mostly be crushed sandstone, the stable and compactable nature of the material allowed them to expediate development. Really I think it's nothing new and there has been reclaimed and filled land built on all over Sydney. What amazes me is developers can strip the land back bare but if you want to remove one tree it's s hassle.
  14. If I'm reading this correctly you want the switch on when it's off and vice versa. It's possible to use a relay to do this I think. ( I'm a chippie not a sparkie and it's been over 20 years). On a relay there is a 87 and 87a terminal. When the switch is on power will come from the 87. When it's off from the 87a. Effectively reversing the switching. I think the less connections the better but it should do what I think you want. Guys if what I'm saying above is wrong or off the mark correct me.
  15. That's a great fish well done. I'm sure there's a great story we would all like to hear that goes with it.
  16. There is a jet ski event scheduled for the bay this weekend with a section restricted for the event. See the link below. http://www.rms.nsw.gov.au/maritime/using-waterways/restrictions-closures/marine-notices/sans-souci-sy1512.html And the weather looks just lovely for them [emoji12] Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  17. I think the chemist is called Bova.
  18. The picture in this article showing flood heights on a house shows up quite a bit. http://floods.org.au/wp-content/uploads/Have-We-Forgotten-About-Flooding-on-the-Georges-River.pdf I remember doing our school cross country at Moorebank sports. It wasn't flooding but we had quite a bit of rain. We pretty much had to swim across across Harris creek. We had a ball. That would never happen now.
  19. We haven't really had any good floods since 86 and 88 here. I remember all the swamped cars near Milperra bridge, a pantech truck that you couldn't see the cab just the back. Millperra road was closed for a couple of days. 1988 we took like 4 hours to get to work. There was no M5 then.
  20. Teflon it sounds like an absolute shocker day you had and your still scared from the experience. How many days of therapy on the boat do you think it will take for a full recovery?
  21. We really do live in a very soft world. I've been surprised by the lack of traffic the last few days. I understand in some areas keeping people away would help. But on mass I think is lame. If the country got invaded they would put it in the too hard basket and drop down to the cafe for a latte.
  22. I think it's dropped a bit now pedestrians can get through. I live in holsworthy too, I just went for a ride with the kids. What sort of fishing do you do? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
