  1. There's no fun in that. I hadn't been inked until a few months ago. One got me after just inking it seemed to have an endless supply. I was fishing by myself but I got the last laugh when I ate him.
  2. What can I say. You two guys are gun fisho's. I wish I could catch in a year what you guys get on a weekend. Well done.
  3. Maybe you should spend a day squidding. There are a few about atm. If your aiming for kingies it's going to be a long summer so maybe some squidding practice will speed up the quest.
  4. Im thinking each head will make two of these. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  5. Sometimes it's just plain torture waiting to get on the water. I had my eye on Sunday all week and for the first time in quite a while my Dad came along. On the water before 7 and headed down stream, planning to keep it simple and just target flathead down south. On the way out I pulled up thinking a little squidding might be a nice way to kick off. Started working the jigs and a little while later bang I'm on. This squid was pulling some drag and had some size about him. Dad wound in and grabbed the net. There was a good size follower behind. We missed the follower and I actually dropped my squid and recaught it in the confusion. End result one in the bag, sweet. We started discussing if Dad had caught a squid before and he didn't think he had. A few minutes later he is on. This one was a little smaller but far more memorable. Whilst boatside in the water it shot it's ink covering dad and half the boat. How I wish now I took some pics. Needless to say I will have that image of squid ink in his ear for a long time and being the good son I am will remind often. We moved on for the flathead and a little while after getting sorted and a couple of drops, Dad noticed the water boiling some distance off. We decided to chase so up the paternoster's came and the chrome twisty thrown on the squid rods. The water was alive with action, hardly a bird in sight we pulled up beside the school, they were moving quick so after a couple of dodgy casts we had to move. Next time bang on target let it sink through the school a little and wind fast. Bang zzzz how great is that feeling. My 2-4 kg Starlo Stix, with 2500 symetre 6lb braid was singing. The fish went down and was pulling hard, I added to the drag a few times although I was pretty confident in 25 metres with sand below. After providing plenty of excitement I boated a 65cm salmon. We chased a little more but could keep up with them, so back to flattie fishing. In the end we just bagged two keepers. On the way back we had a troll near the bommie and dad landed a 55 cm salmon this time on the heavier setup. A brief stop near Yowie bay but just found the pickers so we called it a day. With 2 squid, 2 flatties and 2 salmon. Kept one. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Led lights

Looks good. How long were the LEDs. Where did you put them?
  7. Your in fire. Two cracking fish in a week.
  8. Two great fish there. Well done. Sounds like uncomfortable conditions.
  9. That's what it is based on how many posts you do. Some sections like swap and sell are not available until you have a minimum number and of posts.I don't see it on my iPhone using google chrome
  10. Welcome to Oz Jeff. Im sure a raider will join you for a trip.
  11. Id be stoked getting one snapper land based in a day. Well done and a good report as well.
  12. I'd guess it's probably a better run home to the bay in a nor-easter.
  13. Great fishing and and good thinking. I can see fishraider a scouring the tackle shops for tiny clear plastics. Looks funny on the jig head.
  14. Thanks guys. The flattie fillets sure are pretty popular are go well on the plate.
  15. It's been super busy and I hadn't been out for ages. Was aching to get out and managed to tee up Sunday with a mate. Up and about early and an hours sleep missing with the start of day light saving. Our plan was simply to get a feed and stay away from the crowd and finish by about 1. Headed out and we decided to troll near the bommie. Nothing doing. Headed out to drift for flatties. The first hour or so not much was happening the wind was pushing too fast for our liking so we moved in a little and deployed the sea anchor. Over the next few hours we collected a good feed of fillets. It was a great day on the water and long overdue. Heading back in the Hacking was full of long weekend crowds. Happy we stayed out of that craziness. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  16. There are online calculators available to help estimate lengths. I think most people just do it backwards first and reverse it. Tie or tape the braid to the spool and load it on. Tie mono to it and fill the spool. So the mono will be on top of the braid at this stage. Then unload it into another empty spool or bottle or something. ( a battery drill spinning it will speed it up). Whilst unloading it off the real you will need to separate the braid from mono. Once the new reel is empty tie the mono onto the spool and fill it and the braid from the bottle. You will end up using all your braid with a nicely filled spool.
  17. Maybe not the smallest I have caught but I must commend AMKR on his fine work with the net! Another notable catch for ambition was a small flathead maybe 15cm long at the most that inhaled a similar sized live poddy mullet. When I first bought him in, it took a second to figure it out as it just looked like a fish with a tail at both ends. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
  18. Very nice catch. Well done and thanks for sharing.
  19. It's a few years away but the daughter will be happy about the auto upgrade. Sounds like he is good to go.
  20. Does the junior licence automatically update or are they tested again? It's hard to get straight answers with any government department or large business. I'd be playing it safe and wait the few days.

  22. Swordy you just made it so simple. Although it sounds like it's changed too. In name only maybe?
