  1. Bah, that old man just came back from Sydney fish market thats all that he was.... sware! Lies LIES!
  2. I went there last week. Must of been unlucky. It was dead as. Not a single line on the wharf caught anything while i was there, i was there for hours. Not even a tiny nibble, except for the rodents under the wharf, probably toad fish or something lol. Must of been a bad run..
  3. Mate, when your starting out any rod will do with the type of fishing your doing. Don't be going blowing your money until you get heaps more hook ups - trust me, u can buy new gear forever!!! Regarding bites, if you can't feel it on your line, it's probably small fish anyway, u dont care about them right But if your like me, i want to feel everything, then get some braid, as it doesnt stretch and u can feel anything. Just dont over do it and buy a really expensive one.. because u wanna match it with ur jarvis walker.. just like u dont go buy a datsun and then put forumla one wheels on it - it just doesnt match.. What i recommend, is go out with someone else who has experience, that way, its more fun and u can pick up experience more than them. And if you dont catch anything, u got someone to share it with you. But lastly, whatever you do, don't let your nil catches bring you down. Chin up! That 1m blue groper is callin your name. Cheers mate
  4. Im beginning to like the plait too. After you have a double, how do you connect to your swivel / snap clip / leader ? And why do you say no ballons? How do you use corks?! Never seen anyone on the rocks using them as yet.
  5. Nice report. Really enjoyed that! Top catch!!
  6. Hahah thats the one. Awesome vid!!! Favourited.
  7. Hi Guys, Just yesterday i clicked on a youtube link from this forum about white pointer shark fishing. It was a great watch! My favourite part was when he runs opposite to the water and yanks the rod real hard to hook the shark!!! hahaha I just can't find the link anywhere, can anyone help!? Tried the search with all sorts of things and on youtube as well!! THanks.
  8. Thats some sound advise. I got 24kg Stren on a serious 7ft rod and reel, just purchased some Mustad live bait 8/0. Thought that'd be too large, but i guess im wrong! What brand leaders should i consider? And which ones should i steer clear of? Is it safe to stick to brands? Sampo swivels, where can i get them? I have never seen them in tackle stores! Ball bearings! Thats crazy, and they're expensive! but i dont mind considering quality. When you say 10ft bimini, do you mean the double itself? I was planning on doing something like 50 twists (for sure that wont be 3m of twists, just want to double check :]) How should i join the bimini and sampo swivel? What sort of knot? Thanks for the gold!
  9. Great topic, i posted in the gamefish forum because i thought it was the right place, but all the pros are posting here! lol! As not to hijack this thread, anyone care to post about LBG terminal tackle options here: http://fishraider.com.au/Invision/index.php?showtopic=42463 Cheers.
  10. Awesome, i picked up some 8/0 live bait hooks, thought it might of been too big! Musty! Mate! I'll keep the 100lb in mind and use the uni knot. Do you bother with a swivel or do you tie the leader to the mainline? Smoked? HAHA Bring it on!!!! I wanna get spooled and end up at the physio like GregL LOL!!!
  11. Toikle, is this the pool you are referring to? http://maps.google.com.au/maps?f=q&sou...mp;t=h&z=20
  12. Hi Guys, I want to chase kings with live bait in Jervis bay, i got some gear rod and reel with 50lb mono. Q1. What sort of lb leader should i employ? Q2. What sort of knots and where? Q3. What size live bait hooks? Cheers.
  13. Gday VA911, I've fished the east side of the Island a few times. First time i was there i hit a school of dart, with constant hookups. They fight okay, and they pretty much hook themselves! Few days later on the south east tip, i was fishing and lost my last float, and i asked a fellow angler if he would sell me a float, he offered it free, but i paid him anyway. He was kind enough to show me a king fish he just caught and indicated they were busting up just off that rock that day on ganged pillies. If you want to catch baby tailor for live baiting, there are heaps right now off the historical jetty. I just use a snap on plastic float with a metre of tough ~16lb trace and size 6 hook. Use anything on the hook, ive used nippers, prawn, random fish fillets. I found the fillets or worms the best. It's quite enjoyable watching the float go sideways when the baby tailor smash the bait down below. A split shot half way really helps keep it down too. I'll be up there after NY for a few weeks, and pretty much plan to fish every single day! How long u planning on holidaying for!
