Happy birthday Forliano. We never did get to go out fishing!! Have a good day.
  15. All this talk of pink nippers, i want to go buy some. Where can i buy them on the northern beaches? Also, anywhere down south too? For southern Sydney beaches?
  16. Caught some tailor last week on pillies which was great fun. I tried metal but they wouldn't take it. I was thinking, do tailor take diving minnows? If so, can anyone suggest a good one to buy/use. Cheers.
  17. Hahahaha. It looks like your standing on the rock platform you often fish at. It's so true! The pic does you justice from the snaps you post up. That's some art i actually like! I'll be hoping something like that for my birthday! Maybe i'll see you on the stones some time! Cheers Ray.
  18. Took the wife down south to Bannisters for a small holiday. Bit of relaxation and change of pace. Found a spot and armed with pillies we fished sunset. There was a bit of tailor around and they were great fun on light gear. After two hours of fun and games it died down and people actually started to arrive. None one hooked up anything and we all decided to head off. As we were packing up a new couple came and asked me if there any bites. I felt bad for them as it was pretty dead and they made the effort to come out and fish, so i lied and said "yeah a few" heh. My wife left a line in the water sitting on a little stool with the second last pillie when it abruptly fell over. She got a fright and thought i fell over or something. The rod just slammed into the ground and was travelling into the water. I quickly grabbed it and the line was peeling off like no tommorrow, zzzzzzzzZZzzz. I was in such a hurry to grab the rod that the line cut my hand. It was a crack up, because it was a cheaper Daiwa D shock rod 6'6 and it was bent over almost to the butt like i was jigging. THe only thing was, i was on land and whatever was on the end was making a quick get away. I got back 1m of line in the whole battle and watched over half my spool empty away to the abyss. I had to do something and have a bit of line to fight with so i had to tighten the drag and thats when the knot failed. I was thinking it must of been a shark or a jewfish even. Ahh well, wasnt to be. The couple who just arrived got so excited. I think they would of stayed there all night. Sorry no pics. The annoying thing is now, i want to hook up another monster like that again!!!! hahah. Hopefully land it.
  19. Mega late notice, but anyone up for fishing tommorrow? Im in Sydney! Pretty keen! Landbased or in the bay. Happy to share costs. PM me!
  20. Avoca rocks have some higher rock ledges where the wash usually does not get up to. What you can do is look at the rock if it's wet. That is one indication that it's safer. Don't forget the usual things, like watching the sets, lulls for a while to see if it's safe and check the weather and swell conditions. Those higher rocks are a good place to start out.
  21. 007, how did you manage the squid? Was it bottom bouncing a yozuri or was it a yozuri under a float? Nice catch! It's been quiet on those stones lately.
  22. Hi, I'm taking some friends who want to get into fishing out to watson's bay wharf to hopefully catch some yellow tail or whatever lurks there. Does anyone have any tips or techniques, or times when to to fish to maximise our time? Don't want to put them off Cheers.
