  1. we have been fishing the hawkesbury harder than ever this year and im seriously concerned. in years gone by it was nothing to catch a couple of nice schoolies but this year is an absolute shocker, all we can catch are tons of eels, pj's, and shovelnose. i still love the river and will never stop trying for that big boy but its getting tough to stay motivated. i notice a massive drop in the numbers of fish cleaned at the ramp and just speaking to people suggests everyone is doing it tough. whats going on?
  2. i got one of these last year in Cowan on a houseboat trip, followed a live nipper right to the surface then clobbered it, i was calling it for a diamond trevally.
  3. how good do those squid look is that a boston whaler you guys fish out of?
  4. hi roberta, i was down in huski over xmas. puffer fish heaven the little were in there millions, even off the beach. only decent fish we had was some nice tarwhine from the breakwall on the ocean side of the main wharf in the heart of town. i did go snorkeling off chinamans beach and saw some big whiting and bream but they wouldnt touch our baits. i do hear its one of the best spots for squid though but fish or not the place is stunning, im in love
  5. funny read, but like you said youu put in all that work so you should spray the final coat on best of luck. btw, great choice of colours (go the dragons )
  6. between myself and 5 cousins we have put in some serious hours in the hawkesbury this summer and have come home dejected on 90% of our trips, i cant work it out but somethings off this summer, im guessing and praying its going to be a later season than usual. Weve been plagued by eels, sharks and rays as well as hundreds of baby jewies with only a handful of legals, best going 8kg. On the contrary, the harbour has been on fire. the valiant holds some nice fish at times and weve pulled some nice kings and even samsons over the years but its very hit and miss and forget it when the dive boats there.
  7. great stuff marco, awsome kingy i take it the squid was a bit bigger than our wharf variety
  8. freddies fishing world at auburn has a large range of softies plastics.
  9. read that tooo stewy and pissed myself knowing the truth. THey actually wrote Fishraider in the article.
  10. gday squidboy, hit the spots i told you about, just remember to get some livies aswell. see you at the wharf
  11. i bought a okuma titus gold 15 2 speed and sold it a month later, lost a good jewie on it, was not impressed with the drag at all. ive just bought a tyrnos 30 as i didnt have a game outfit, i was after a tld but was told these were a stronger version, hope i made the right choice didnt think about the gear ratio to be honest.
  12. well done again oz, you guys are ON FIRE! were yet to turn a reel on foreverfishings boat after hours and hours and hours of cubing
  13. good stuff Mako, we were at Browns on Saturday in Foreverfishings Signature. Cubed for 4 hours without a touch and only saw one other boat hook up but they had to chase the fish so we didnt see what it was, probably a fin. shitty now you say they came on after 4 but like you we knew the ride home was going to be bumpy so we pulled the pin at 1.30. the signature ate through the chop with ease, awsome boats they are we spotted a marlin which popped up in front of the boat three times just passed the shelf but he was not interested in our lures, we trolled on for a lone stripie which we dropped at the boat. i take my hat off to you, bottom bashing looks like heart attack stuff, saw a guy winching in for a good 20-25 minutes
  14. i might be organising a charter, we might be able to get a group together, is midweek ok for you guys?

    Reels

if your keen on getting an overhead id recommend a shimano tsmIV, star drag with no level wind and a great casting overhead. ive got two i use as boat reels and off the beach. theyve been around for a while but are dependant and wont cost you a fortune. picked one of mine up off ebay for $100.
  18. A Fishermans World was a ripper series!!! My local vid store (Civic video) used to have em about 5 years ago and they were awsome. cant find them anywhere now. my fave was the jewies off the breakwalls with guys pushing wheelbarrows back with big jews in em
  19. sounds like a plan mate, i work saturdays but il see what i can do, may even meet you there. il let you know later in the week if i can make it. thanks for the offer.
  20. sound advice from mrfemalefisho...sorry pacemode where did pacemode come from mate? i had a good chat to pacemode (jim) at the social and i can assure you he is a top shelf fisho and is a valuable asset to all on this site. he was very open with info to me and i appreciate it greatly. if i learnt anything from fishing with him is that confidence brings results. we can all learn from each other and James methods obviously work for him to and thats great that we all think a little differntly in how to get results. thanks to jims better half for finding this site, she is just as keen and im sure as good as her man-didnt get to find out cause she was busy with their little one- great team you guys have, was a pleasure to meet you both as for me, ive always done well on the newcastle side on the runout at the fourth pylon using squid. give all the spots a go, im sure they all produce on their day. good luck.

    Bar Crusher

a guy at work has got the 560c and raves on about the thing, they look the goods if you like (as Stallo said) the full chequerplate treatment. they are a true fishing boat with not an inch of carpet in site, big cockpit space, enpormously wide gunwales and thewater chamber gives the boat great stability at rest...so ive been told.
  22. hi raiders, although you can pick up jew all year round ive found from early november through to about the end of april the best as there are definately more fish around especially schoolies. i think we should do it late october or early november to better everyones chances of scoring fish. whatever date we decide il be there with bells on im also willing to help out with the social.
  23. CONGRATS Red, awsome fish on a hardbody, and on your first cast if i were you id be going with your gut instinct all the time. you talk about it being arse but you should be puting it down to your effort to get out there on a cold night and chase the buggers...just reward for your efforts mate. enjoy the moment.
