  1. got it down pat mate, thanks again, now i just need to test it out with a jewie on the end
  2. what a great day im so glad i was able to make the trip down today (only remembered it was on at 8 this morning ) so i grabbed my gear, opened the street directory and was on my way. as already stated the fishing was slow but nobody really cared, it was fantastic to be greeted by such a welcoming bunch of fisherfolk all willing to chat, help with advice and just relax and enjoy a beautiful day. this was my first social attendance but will definately not be my last!! many thanks to all those who have already been mentioned, it was way beyond my expectations and the generosity of these guys and girls is outstanding. we are so lucky to be part of a genuine group of people (the fishraider family as Stewy put it ) and i urge all members to come along to these days whenever possible-you will be welcomed straight in. on a personal note, thanks also to Sammy and Chris for the albright knot pointers and company, Dan for showing me how to rig up and Jim for invaluable jewie advice that i hope to put to great use, and most importantly all the members who were more than willing to have a chat and make the day a pleasure. this site is run by a top bunch of mods and owners, Stewy and Donna are legends and i am proud to say there are no ego problems in the fishraider family. Congrats to Jim on winning Rohits superb rod, a deserved winner and a great bloke. thanks for the company mate. great to see you already putting the baby through its paces once again a BIG thankyou to all and thanks for a top day.
  3. now that would have my knees trembling, we could guess till the cows come home but well never know what the culprit was, thats what brings us back time and again. im thinking big ray also but it could have been anything as many species turn up where they not supposed to. it may well have been a tuna.
  4. as soon as i crack that elusive big jew a snapper like that (the first one will do!) is on my list. Awsome fish, did you get a weight on the big one, looks a good 7-8kg
  5. fishnut, its a 630f signature, ie 6.3m i must say having been in this boat they are truly an awsome machine just about as good as a trailerboat gets.
  6. my hands up if the date is right but were out of season for a while yet
  7. is this sort of crap going to happen every time Saqa posts about a rod??? he has always been open to people to come and view, trial etc all his rods and im sure he would not let someone down if they werent happy. ill definately be seeing him next time i need a rod. dont spoil peoples joy over their new purchase, if chinaman is happy thats all that matters.
  8. Go the Dragons, theyve paid their dues.
  9. thats what i call a TAILOR well done there lawrie, imagine the size of the jewie you could catch on that puppy
  10. i saw a bloke fishing there at sunset yesterday, must av been you!! gd to hear u got some fish, thats a top breambo.
  11. a couple of former members were puuling jacks out of there a few years ago (swoffa and ko-i) and had pics as well (i think they came from Manly lagoon)

    Polycraft Tuff Tender

    pm Whitto, hes got one.
  14. im no finch fan but he must have read your posts guys
  15. im seriously tempted by the sounds of this rod, and by your warning Jewel. I am wanting to start targeting jewies on plastics while i wait (and wait, and wait...) for my livies to go off. What reel would make a nice partner for the pelagic, im trying to work out an overall cost
  16. my best is 45cm that went 1.9kg, fat fish on its pre spawning run. A well known Hawkesbury charter operator told me of 2 65sm bream they got on a charter, werent weighed though.

    Okuma Reels

i own three okumas, all are faultless and have copped a hiding. 5 year warranty-cant complain. i would recommend the Inspira IS40 or 50 for what your after.(under 100 bucks on ebay)
  18. im in my final stages of my building course (taken me way too long ), am currently a foreman on a unit development in Penrith, 6 long days a week means an unhappy fisho...
  19. youve done it again mate, well done. we only managed about a dozen soapies, not even a legal amongst them. i lost a real good fish yesterday though, rubbed me off on the bottom im still crying.
  20. welcome bro, hopefully well have some jewie pics up soon
  21. Netic, enjoying your posts very much mate its funny how you still call this bloke your 'mate' i agree with you about being helpful to fellow fishos as we all really appreciate it! ive caught small jewies (3-4kgs) from the shore there and there are actually a couple of drop offs in that area. Maybe we should have a mini Raider social there one night this week? those livies can be a bitch to track down, give Abbotsford wharf a go next time as its close to the spot and normally has heaps of yakkas as well as squid. Let us know if your heading out, i know another Raider wholl be in for sure.
  22. i have an EB60 and have given it a flogging over the last 4 years and its been faultless(touch wood). sure they scratch up a lot quicker but the drag is faultless and the reel casts like a dream. i fish 30lb braid on mine too. you should maintain ALL your reels (wash down after every use and occasional spray with inox) so you shouldnt have a drama. i own 3 okumas and love all of em.
  23. Wise move to start this thred Mondo, and congrats on the new boat- just what id want too I think what needs to be clarified is that when i talk about dos and donts im talking about jewie fishing. Ill just add that in regard to anchoring, in spots like Juno or any "point" really, position yourself side by side, NOT BEHIND other boats and if someone hooks a big fish ill pull my lines in and if up anchor if necessary or asked. Just remember to enjoy yourself and not get too concerned about rules on the water. day to day life is stressful enough and i get on the water to relax first and foremost. Use commonsense and if in doubt ask the boat/s around if they mind first or where you should anchor, most people will be glad to help.
