  1. grab a copy of greg joyces "Jewfish Secrets", this way you can see exactly how to butterfly baits plus a whole bunch of tips.
  2. Im with Wayne on this one, Now ive been trying to catch that big jew for years now and it would kill me to lose my dream fish cause someone anchored right behind me, my mate lost a good fish at Juno a few years ago that ran towards the Steel and got caught on their anchor rope but this was no fault of theirs, just our shitty luck. Its pretty simple really, anchor IN LINE (side by side) with the other boats and not behind them and everyone will get on fine. Nobody owns the water but there is nothing wrong with being respectful to others fishing a spot. Jewfishos seem to cop a lot of flack when we ask that people dont anchor behind us but it goes for just about all spots and all types of fish really, everyone needs their space and it just so happens that Jews run more than most estuary species and at places like Juno they normally go straight for the point. BTW Wayne, bombed out on Tuesday, struggled to livies even. Heard nobody did any good?
  3. hi Red, funny you mention the drag on the 7000, ive got an old one (the blue model) that hasent seen use for years as the drag went on it. Im hopeless with DIY repairs, can you recommend somewhere i can get it fixed properly as it was my favourite reel to use. Do you fish for jews with yours? cheers
  4. well done James, i cant handle all these jew reports anymore, seems like the river is on fire, ill be out on Tuesday...with the 5000 other boats gotta get my big jew.
  5. i usually fish out of my mates centre console quinnie (rego ERWOON) but havent been able to get out for about a month targeting the buggers ive spoken to glenn plenty of times but last time i was out you guys pulled up next to us at that spot (overheard you on the phone saying you had a 15kg in the boat. im sure ill see you out there soon, be sure to say hi. Glenn told me about the time you ducked off in the middle of the night and came back an hour later with a big boy so you definately know yor stuff. Ive been dying to get one for seven years, best iv managed is a 20 pounder...one day.
  6. well done Wayne seen you out many times with Glen, you sure do put in the hours...still waiting for my turn. Always envious of your cruisy too, beautiful setup you have.

    Fishabout Boats

they are Mutimer hulls (think thats how you spell it)
  8. why not consider a Polycraft 4.1. they seem to have a loyal band of supporters (just ask Stewy ) and by all reports outperform tinnies by a long way, particularly in the ride department. maybe contact site sponsor Yabbie Marine, i believe you may be able to get one around your budget too. good luck mate.
  9. I reckon your just spoiled Just kidding mate, you put in the hours and are rewarded with the sort of fish i drool over, full credit to you and moonie...and hopefully with a change of luck i might agree with you on the schoolies tasting crap Theres nothing wrong with letting em go either, i love jewies and it hurts to kill them but i love eating them too, i by no means keep every legal fish i catch. btw, i just pan fry mine either filleted or cutlets if their big enough with some lemon, salt and pepper...mmm.
  10. your asking the wrong bloke penguin as moonlite doesnt eat seafood but i can assure you they are beautiful Red, i reckon school jewies taste beautiful too, not as good as big ones but well worth eating, each to their own i guess, besides i can only catch schoolies so they have to do for me.
  11. youve seen me in my Bayliner, with my cousin in his Signature and my mates quinnie centre console and no matter which boat im in your always out there puuting in the hours, im as dedicated as you in terms of only targeting jewies but i cant get the time to fish lately and its killing me...maybe i should buy a newsagency only kidding mate. where is your shop by the way?
  12. well done Davy, another good day out. your Dad probably hooked a king, but Clifton produces so many species that you never know what will turn up next. Jewies, kings, salmon tailor etc,etc and even hairtail have been taken there, its a great spot at times.
  13. i take my hat off to you mate, you put in the hard yards and get rewarded, well done Glenn i still cant crack that big jewie mate and it drives my nuts, i put in the hours with quality bait in the right spots for nothing ever more than schoolies, i know its a matter of time but you seem to do it all the time. ive seen you (and spoken to you) plenty of times in the usual spots, theres nothing like sussing out new ground and scoring fish, sure beats having to put up with blokes anchoring on top of you. Guess i should learn and try and sound out some new spots for myself. what bait did this one take, im guessing not squid as ive been doing poorly on squid lately, not that ive been getting out much
  14. west head has produced jews, best i know of going 18kg but inside Pittwater itself im not too sure, i think most people target the Hawkesbury but im sure theyd be there.
  15. depending on dates ill be interested
  16. nice fish glen, we got a small one (about 5kg) around this time last year that took a squid while jewie fishing at the steel.

    Little Box?

ive done ok on bream there but never pulled a jewie (they are caught there though). i anchor just back from the point within a couple of boat lenghts to shore, watch the submerged rocks though!!
  18. cheers david, with the rain this morning i couldnt go but will be out in the morning, dont start work till 8.30 tomorrow
  19. campbells over in wa still have some usa built penns for sale ($250 for the 8500SS)
  20. well done David im working only 2 minutes from the river but have been too busy to get out as yet. Im going to have a crack early tomorrow morning at either the rowing club (hope those that broke into your car arent reading this) or somewhere next to the boat ramp. I took a drivw the other day at lunch and found the ramp and that whole park area looks fishy. i noticed the weed is real nasty in close though, do you have any ideas where is best to access the water here?
  21. as far as what looks better, its personal opinion of course but i reckon dark (i.e black, blue) look great. The major problem is scratches and the like will show alot more on the darker hull. White is probably easier to sell but blue would be desirable id imagine, its not like your going for pink or something outrageous.
  22. im in, good idea go the dragons
  23. if youd like to fish the Broadwater in Surfers then i can put you on to the best estuary charter bloke, and very affordable prices too. pm me if your interested.
  24. George, but dont get me started on the yanks...
