  1. Great catch guys - the harbour is alive with the blackies at the moment Royce and I were lucky enough to get that place to ourselves a few months back Royce - I am still heading over your way before you get back for good over and out gav
  2. Also try Ettalong just up from the amenities block on the road that runs along the water. I was there on the weekend and saw a guy land a nice flattie and get busted up by a salmon It's the kind of spot where you can take the kids too which for some is great gav
  3. I agree with Slinky When the water is as brown as what it is at the moment I have found "smellier" baits work best. The fish tend to "find" this a little easier to locate. Also for something different try garden worms where the storm water drains empty out. Normally they don't work that great, but when there has been a heap of rain like there has been they tend to get flushed out from peoples gardens and the fish feed on them gav
  4. Off the bridge that runs out to Bare Island at night is good - I have seen this produce in the day time as well. anywhere in and around that immediate area is worth a try hope this helps gav
  5. Totally agree with what has been said - take a right as soon as you turn into the Garie beach turn off. I have a couple of questions too: 1. Is there a pub down there? The last time I was there (a long time ago) there was a wheatherboard shack that I am sure was a pub. I have been told that the surf lifesaving club take kegs around by boat. If so how godd would that be? 2. can you camp there? thanks everyone gav
  6. I didn't go last weekend - Rain or not I am going fishing this weekend for sure gav
  7. Nice going Tomski! Aren't jewies just an awesome looking fish great report gav
  8. That's a fantastic effort, especially for a 3 year old. I bet you were proud I bet he can't wait to go again gav
  9. I agree with Luke - good effort in getting out there The wind and surf were definately up last night gav
  10. Nice going one again Rick The residents at Pyrmont will wonder what the hell is going on see you all on Sunday gav
  11. Great idea McFishn That colour reminds me of the nuclear plant from the Simpsons gav
  12. Nice one You certainly know how to take a great photo Ray gav
  13. My Dad has a 45 year old bakerlite reel that has finally kicked the bucket. His birthday is coming up shortly so I thought it would be a good idea to get him a nice centrepin. He only fishes the harbour or estuary. Does anyone know where I can get my hands on a good reel. Any help is much appreciated thanks everyone gav
  14. :thumbup:Well done Roberta Camden Haven sure is a nice part of the world. I haven't been up that way for a very long time. I fondly remember fishing for blackies with my Dad off the breakwall - from memory you could also get your bait in the little pond just behind the breakwall congrats gav
  15. Nice going there Yakfishing - be warmed thoguh fishing for the blackies can be addictive. At times my experience has been that the smaller fish go harder than the larger variety - the larger ones tend to "roll" and get tired but the little ones just don't give in gav
  16. Thanks for the reply Pete - I appreciate it Jewgaffer - thank you for the detailed information regarding the barometer and "how to" relate it to your fishing - I had to read it 3 times just to take it all in gav T
  17. What a great session To get those pigs on 8lb line is a great effort - they are brutal and defintately know where to head to when they are hooked. You mentioned that the barometer was dropping - do you find the bream and pigs are more active as the barometer is dropping or as it is rising? Great Report gav
  18. Does anyone know where you can find the barometer readings for different areas in Sydney? I have been keeping a fishing diary for a while now but don't have a barometer reading for the days I have fished. thanks gav
  19. Nice looking floats there Iceman. Imagine what we would find if everyone cleaned there garages out. gav
  20. The other good thing about that rig is that if the Surgeons are around and they bust you up, you can normally salvage your float as they only take your rig from the swivel which is holding the barrel sinker. Would you agree with this Rick? I have only fished still water a few times for the blackies and I am picking up a little more each trip out - it is very different from fishing for them where you have a "drift" Thanks for the day out Rick - hopefully the next time around we can order some sunshine Gav
  21. Looks like you are ramping it up for next weekend Rick Nice catch Lets hope they are around this weekend gav
  22. Good on you for giving it a go - I have had this weekend booked in for a while now. Regardless fo the weather I know I will be fishing for sure Sometimes you just have to give it a go no matter how insane it seems gav
  23. With this weekends forecast of huge seas I will be tagetting the quiter corners and less exposed parts of the beaches...hopefully they ar still hanging around gav
  24. Definately tailor off the beaches & Drummer off the rocks if you ask Royce he will tell you that this is when all the closet black fishers come out to play trevally are also found off the rocks in winter gav
