  1. You had a busy day by the sound of it! Ive had good reports of cod lately 2 of them cracked the metre mark (1 in Narrandera & the other at Barooga) Ive seen enough good pics on relatives facebook pages to make me jealous, hope its still running hot at Eaaster! Brett
  2. Try Huey for that one, Im sure they can be ordered as opt extras on Stacer & Quintrex boats.
  3. I would say Forster. Plenty of bream & flat head & an easy paddle around the bridge and you can be dolphin watching at the same time. I usually stay in Cabins but the place I stay (Lanis holiday Island) has a camping area that is actually an island with its own boat ramp, the place should suit you guys. Brett

  5. Hi Whitewash my chosen lures are PINK Christmas trees, for stripe tuna, bonito even dollies & kings (kings Ive only got rats so far) see the image below. if targeting larger species I use an 8 inch pink skirt with alloy jet head that has a large hole in front & smaller jet holes on the sides that leave a nice trail of bubbles Brett
  6. Hey I had one that looked like that! My trailer has 2 axles running 13" rims on Ford hubs & Ford bearings. I read some where that the Holden axle (bearing) reduces your total weight. The reason for my tyre blowing out was corrosion in the valve stem allowing the pressure to drop all other tyres were still @ 50PSI Brett
  7. plug & coax is the same but the antennas are different. The length of wire inside the antenna is set to the frequency by using the wrong antenna you may damage the new radio. Personally I would be changing the base and lead aswell for piece of mind the slightest bit of corrosion will stop your radio from working, Brett
  8. Dont laugh but that made me check my details, Car Lic. Boat Lic bank & credit cards have one spelling (politically incorrect) but Medicare passport & birth cert are correct Brett
  9. the 4m was also more stable when first sat in the point 65 it felt like it was going to fall out but that feeling didn't last long at all, I was not game enough to push it too far though the water we were in looked like a bull shark breeding ground & wasn't going in. Hows this though a kayak in the back of a Honda Civic hatch
  10. what about a tent peg for sand from a camping shop or post from a sand or beach umbrella? Always remember to point the front of the boat away from land making it easier to push it back out if tide goes out quicker then expected. Brett
  11. I dont think we crossed this topic Ian, We have spoke before on at least one other topic. Now that I have the point 65 I am starting to like the advantages = takes up bugger all room in the garage and easy to manage alone.
  12. Excellent feed back FAB1 I agree totally with all you have just said. Brett
  13. Yes Ian the roof racks for canopy are the pricey part, I got a set of Rhinos for the cabin from the wrecking yard but there only good for 50kg
  14. & the result is...... Im not real happy it does not paddle very strait although we managed a 6km round trip for our first outing (neither of us have done any real kayaking to call ourselves fit). only that my son has a 4m kayak & it rides so well & thats all I have to compare with, the point65 is only 2.95m so to be fair it should be compared to a similar size yak before I criticise it. A mid section to make it a 2 seater will bring it up to 4.16m be interesting to see how it travels then. Brett
  15. for me I will take a rod with me but more for a social event with the fitness fanatic son if it was a fish I was after I would take the boat & travel in comfort
  16. last I seen of it it was very shallow & ramp drops away very early, I was about to try it NYE 3 years back and decided to let marine rescue go first & they couldn't launch there inflatable there it ended up stuck for about 20 mins before they got it back out again. Brett
  17. wow 2 weeks & still no replies, I have chose to go with convenience & buy the point65 if had of chose a normal yak I was up for $800 for roof racks on the ute B4 I even started with the cost of the Yak, with 25% off this week the Point 65 was the same price as the single piece kayak now I have the option to expand to 2 seat when I want. Test day tomorrow will post on here my thoughts!
  18. I wouldn't recommend 12 mile reef thats a long way in a small boat if theres a change in weather, I did one trip to the peak in my 475 when I had it but really didnt enjoy it but it was not the best of weather. What you are doing Cameldownunder is the right thing to do just take a little at a time if you have maps on your gps use them to help you find spots looking for high spots & low spots usually both will hold fish. as for going out a distance I usualy go out to try my luck then come back in close to get a feed. Brett
  19. Ok Cameldownunder I would go with Scratchie's suggestion and check out the list on here, Ive just had a look and "the colours" is on there. I always thought Colours was a ship wreck. According to this link http://nswwrecks.info/Shipwreck%20Database.html royal shepard is the closest I could find to its location. The artificial reef is also out there detail for it is on this link, http://www.dpi.nsw.gov.au/fisheries/recreational/saltwater/artificial-reefs/sydney-offshore-artifical-reef Brett
  20. not much response there mate. to get this info for you I would have to get in boat & connect gps unit up, so it wont be strait away but I can do it for you. how far do you want to travel from the heads? I will PM you with some co ordinates to get you started. (look at that all the time with no reply then Locodave posts while I am typing)
  21. Hi Guys Ive been thinking of getting a kayak but transporting it is a killer. I dont want to go in to big $ as the boat will always be first preference the yak will be more a fitness thing with some fishing included. to put roof racks on my ute Im looking at the best part of $1000 if not more. for that I could get a point 65n modular kayak that will break down and go in any of our cars. Question is are they any good? Have any of you guys had or tried them before? Brett
  22. I work on the weather, if the weather is good I then mention it to the wife to see whats planned for that day . I then get the leave pass! averaging once or twice per month & thats plenty for me.

    SHIMANO TLD25

I have my TLD25 spooled with 50LB mono The reason I use mono is the stretch of mono allows for any mistakes I might make when I get a big hit. The best Ive got on mine was a mako just over 1meter and the reel handled that with out a struggle. if was using the reel for dropping then I would use braid but all my trolling reels are loaded with mono.
  24. I dont think theres a difference in the brand with polarised only the black (smoke colour) are better for water the brown are apparently better for things like golf that dont have the reflection from the water. at one stage I had a pair of Shimano & a pair from a variety store both pair were identical with the exception of the shimano sticker.
  25. All good! switch arrived on Tuesday, I fitted in to the pump on Thursday bench tested & it worked strait away now its ready to go back in the boat on Saturday. The replacement of the switch was really simple! took about 10 mins. On the end of the pump theres a flat plastic part with 2 red wires held on by 4 screws - remove screws plastic section comes away from pump motor. the end with the wires going in slides out (be careful theres a spring loaded part in there you need to take note how it comes apart) once this all comes apart you will see the 2 wires connected to the switch remove wires (CLEAN ALL PARTS then attach to new switch then put it all back together making sure gasket, spring & metal part that spring sits on are all in place as it goes together. a lot easier then it sounds & much better then replacing a $300 pump motor Brett
