  1. sounds good! send me a PM when you get the word & I will be there. Brett
  2. I've been to the humps a few times without success but I always enjoy the trip down & back so Im never disappointed. if you end up making a day down there let me know if it falls on the right day I will be in it for a cruise. Brett
  3. your towing down a steep decent having the more stable trailer & brakes would be worth any extra hassle the extra axle creates. people are saying that the tyres scrub out when making sharp turns but as a benefit when reversing strait it wont want to turn as mush as a single, the ride will be much smoother for on the hull preventing cracks when the bull rides on the rollers, Basicly for every bad point theres a good point. My opinion = as long as the boat will sit on the trailer correctly I think you will be better off. measure from last roller to winch post making sure your boat fits in there without going past the last roller and have room to move things to adjust the weight.
  4. Let karma do its thing & lets all hope he's jet ski blows a piston fair up he's @ss
  5. They make great fertiliser & some of the carp comps Ive heard are sponsored by fertilizer companies that own the rights to the fish at the end of the day. Leather Jackets should have the same rules!
  6. that was what Ive been told all my life & NOT to be returned to the water even after killing them incase they have eggs that survive
  7. When I stay @ Myola I always use the Myola ramp & never had a problem launching or retrieving a 6m boat with a ford wagon (2wd). Dfishin mentioned a gravel ramp? I could have swore it was concrete! but either way its plenty deep enough & well protected from the wind, Watch you channel markers while navigating the creek! and No it does not have the luxuries we have come used to over the past 10 years but the ramp is fine! Brett
  8. Thanks for that sounds pretty easy!
  9. The bushes in my leaf springs have worn, Im thinking of replacing the bushes with nylon bushes then some one said they were advised not to use nylon. does anyone know anything of this? Im guessing they are pressed in is it a big job to change? or just buy new leafs with nylon bushes & be done with it? also looking at new stainless steel disc rotors & new brake callipers Brett.

    How useful

its easy for them who dont chip in are the ones that ask if I will take them fishing for years after without getting an invite. My good friends without fail chip in every trip so if some one doesn't chip in I feel guilty that my mates chip in and others dont.
  11. Budget must be considered - with no budget I would have a 40+ft cruiser and I don't believe Alloy is an option in them. But in trailer boat I personally prefer Alloy with the cheaper running costs & ability to weld any modifications & repairs.
  12. $2500 was what I paid for my first boat 15ft fibreglass cuddy cabin with 50hp, the first & second outings I wondered where all the water coming in to the hull (found fine hair line cracks in the hull where it was sitting on the rollers) the third outing the motor wouldn't keep running so I took it in for a service ~ turned out it had a cracked piston + bad scoring of the bore, the motor was too old for repair & needed replacing! I gave the boat away and only purchased brand new from then on. Your best option would be a good s/h tinny or put $2500 deposit on a new package
  13. I was out on Thursday temp was around 25deg as soon as you get out Botany bay heads. I like that image where do you get that from? I only use BOM oceanography. Brett
  14. I swear by Seabreeze but still cross reference with Weatherzone Brett
  15. He has done right by you, Ive had the GME SPK006W speakers screwed to my ceiling for 7 years now, if its windy & rough seas they get sprayed with salt water, if it rains while Im on the water or on the road they cop it then when I get home I don't hold back with the hose once again they cop it & never missed a beat!
  16. Can you Shorten your filler hose so that it does not sag below the top of the tank? unscrew the hose from the cap at the gunel pull it gently to take up any slack make sure not to pull to hard a kink in the hose will make situation worse, measure & cut off any excess then reconnect to filler cap. if this fails... Talk to DTM marine services (site sponsor) looking at there images of previous work they would be able to fix your problem real easy!
  17. buy second hand theres a lot out there, in saying that be weary of the ones that are selling "like new only used a couple of times" These are the ones I call bad choice! I bought one last year see post http://www.fishraider.com.au/Invision/index.php?showtopic=74988&view=findpost&p=534455&hl=point65 3 outing only it was so hard to control Thankfully I bought it new from a decent dealer who gave full refund.
  18. if your diagram is correct your first problem would be the filler hose hanging lower then the top of the tank making your fuel run back up hill before going in to the tank, once the fuel in the tank gets to that level it will want to stop flowing. I have found with all the boats Ive filled up with under floor tanks that filling up at the bowser is too fast for the air to escape causing the fuel to spray back up the filler, to over come this I now fuel up using fuel containers and syphon hose (jiggle hose) if in rare event I fuel up at a bowser I run the fuel in very slowly.

    steel fuel tank

Breather on top of tank? if its going to be mounted permanently filler & breather should through the gunnel & any spill from either of them should run to outside of the boat or you will have fuel leak in to your hull... NOT GOOD
  20. The waste from fish cleaning bench's at boat ramps only run back into the water so I dont see there being a rule against throwing gut & gills back in.
  21. LED's aren't fool proof although they do come with lifetime warranty I've had 2 claims over 6 years (may have been a bad batch). Previous trailer had air lock (open at the bottom) incandescent that I had no faith in - I kept plenty of WD40 on the bare wires and they lasted longer if I have to buy lights again it would be a flip of a coin. worth a try - CRC make a spray for battery terminals, like a paint that prevents corrosion I use it on all my batteries
  22. Boat ramp in the caravan park is not very deep I wouldn't recommend using it with larger boat, I used it years ago with a 4.75m tinny even then had to be tide careful. the main boat ramp is just down the road from the caravan park & its an excellent ramp for all boats. watch your channel markers in the creek its very shallow off the main channel, Slight bar as you enter the bay from the creek - nothing major just dont be surprised if theres some one on a surf board there .5m max is all ive seen have a look online for marine parks theres a lot down there! The shelf is really close so if trolling start trolling early (well before the heads) you wont miss theres plenty to be caught. if all else fails - just go to drum & drum stix & get king fish as a by catch.
  23. I started out just the same when I went from 475 to 6 meter boat, I Started out staying in enclosed waters at first just getting the feel of the boat then moved on out from botany bay going down to Cronulla & a few trips around Maroubra then working out to the peak. I was always looking for some one to travel beside but that never happened. be careful, watch the weather conditions and dont go trying to race across the ocean leave that for the guys that end up in trouble. Still after 6 years I wouldn't call my self experienced, Ive never been in bad seas to get experience and thats the way I want to keep it. take it easy relax & enjoy! Brett
  24. Hey guys done a run around the FADs today on the way back I decided to have a bottom drop around the peak where I landed this little fella. any idea what it is?
