  1. Happy to collaborate on a plan. Tend to put snaps (decent ones) in the too hard basket on Sydney.
  2. Love a carrot Bob. Soooo delicious.
  3. I dont have a picture out of the box but basically a small knife jig with some sparkle.
  4. Hey Raiders. Visiting the in laws in NZ for the school holidays. Weather has been absolutely rubbish. Literally found one morning to fish in a two week stay. Got out of Mangawhai on my father in laws boat. Me, bro in law and four boys aged 4, 6, 8, 10. Conditions were excellent in the morning. Headed out to around 40m straight off the heads. Dropped a variety of lures....micro, octo and a brand new fish finger. Started slowly but after a move back to 38m we began pulling in lovely pannies and gurnard. Interestingly the fish finger smashed all other lures. Probably 90% of the 20 odd fish were caught on the 120gr model. The octos caught nothing and the micro jig got a couple..... Ended up with a couple of dinners and some very happy kids and Dads. Now to try and repeat un Sydney..... Cheers D.
  5. Cracking harbour lizard. Gotta be happy with that!
  6. He is a total FROTHER!!!!!! Literally jumps on the fish when they come over the rail (possibly foolishly). My eldest loves it but gets VERY seasick......................
  7. Happy to take you out if you are ever keen mate. PM me.
  8. Hey Raiders, Got out with @REELCRAZYand my youngest on Sunday. Plan was to prospect for snapper around some of the deeper reefs up the northern beaches. Headed out from Roseville. All good at the ramp. Outside of the heads the conditions were OK without being amazing, decent swell running and a 15 kt westerly. Started out at a couple of lumps off Manly Beach in about 50m, no dice. Headed a little north, no dice. Headed deeper, no dice. Over three spots the only thing we were catching were sergeant baker which seemed to be more than happy to smash our baits. There were a few snapper throwbacks but overall disappointing. Headed to a deeper spot (60+) not far from a spot where I have caught snapper and flatties. After a few minutes all the rods went off and we were onto a triple hook up. All good flatties in the 45cm category. We got the baits back down and for the next 30 minutes brought in a procession of flatties with baits barely hitting the bottom. Ended up a with a good feed for a couple of families. A couple of fish over 50 and a quite a few smaller legal throw backs but generally all right about 45cm. All fish caught on fresh baker or flattie rib cages. Got back to the ramp at around 1130, happy campers. Cheers for reading, D PS - apologies for another flattie report!
  9. Nice work Bob - as usual your bad day is likely a great day for a regular Joe!
  10. Hit up the weed beds in Narrabean Lagoon when you have a chance. I had plenty of good sessions in there with my kayak and also not too much can go wrong in those waters! Good sized flatties!
  11. Thanks mate. Two ways. Beer battered and shallow fried OR panko crumbed and shallow fried. Both result in a delicious meal.
  12. Hey raiders, Headed out with my boys and MD (@reel'em) on Sunday morning for a bottom bash, hoping for a nice feed. I love fishing the grounds off Barrenjoey but it had been months and months due to weather etc etc..... Launched around 7am. Lovely quiet winter ramp with pretty good conditions as we headed out wide. There was a slight northerly but it proved perfect for a steady drift without needing too much weight. First stop was around 47m. Picked up a nice 55cm model but then was a little quiet. Moved into deeper water and started picking up some really good fish. The wind totally dropped off at around 11am and conditions were glamour. Ended up with a bakers dozen and called it early as we had a couple of good feeds for both families. Bait was primarily flatty rib cages / sergeant baker from previous trips and a variety of plastics. The biggest fish @ 61cm was caught on the tail of the SB. All fish were bigger than 40cm and mostly between 45-55, 3 fish in the 60s. Threw back a few in the 30-40 cm slot. Overall a great morning on the water. Not particularly technical, but good fun with the kids. Thanks for reading, D
  13. Definitely on the bucket list! Great report.
  14. Interesting. 50m is my secret spot!!!!!!!! I will have to get out to the 60m next trip and check it out.
  15. Hey Raiders, It has been a while........ The combination or being crushed at work, kids winter sport and horrendous weather completely screwed autumn and most of winter fishing. Finally got out for a quick bottom bash off South Head with @reel'em. Conditions were OK but it was a pretty stuff westerly once we got a couple of NM off the cliffs. Nothing particularly tricky planned. Bounce some big baits and plastics off the bottom in the hope of a good feed. There was plenty going on with lots of birds, whales and bait balls. Whist tempted to drag a few surface lures we stuck to the plan and started a few drifts. Picked up some really nice flatties with 3 over 50 and the biggest 53. Wind picked up around 11am so we headed in. NB: I have been using the rib cages from filleted flatties as bait recently and they are deadly. Also means that between the fillets, the bones and guts (burley) and the baits, none of the fish goes in the bin. Not the most exciting day out but great to dust off the cobwebs. Keen to target a few snaps next trip. Cheers D.
  16. Nice inkers mate. Delicious!
