  1. just go into some of the local tackle shops there buy a few lures and have a chat to the guy behind the counter

they are always more then happy to tell you whats biting and where

i just did a few days up that way and its the best jew run they have had in 20yrs

but sadly we happened to be there during the week of bad wind and lousy tides

still nailed a few good fish tho all on live beach worms tho

  2. Got more photos basil but last night i went to sent you the photos and noticed that my phone was full of water in the screen, don't know how it happened. Got the phone in bits to dry out and hopefully retreive the photos. Was a good laugh yesterday, haven't had a laugh like that for a long time.

Can't wait for the colder months for the bigger reds.

put the phone into a bowl of uncooked rice and leave overnight

the rice will absorb all the moisture from the phone

  3. Hi Frame

Umm just got back from up that way last week. I was at Harrington-Crowdy Head which is virtualy the same place, i cant talk for the beach itself but i seen quite a few school caught of the beach end of the Harrington Breakwall. They were getting them early to mid morning on Live herring as well as soft plastics.Soft plastics seeming to be getting most of the fish which at best went perhaps 6 or 8lb . Also there were a few chopper tailor about as well, normaly around April is the best time for them on the beach, when they are on a bag limit is easy to get but they are only just over size with the odd bigger one. So overall i reckon a Jewy is on the cards and perhaps some tailor thrown in :)

    cheers for the info mate

any ideas on where we would pickup some live herring??

i will also be throwing out the taylor i catch as big live baits :)

    i want a big jew :1fishing1:

  4. since we are on this topic has anyone know much abouth the JM ocean god range??

for there price they are a great rod

end of the day tho for a little extra you can get a powerspell which is alot better

will have to catch up for a jig during winter and ill let you use some of my gear

  5. Afternoon

heading to Diamond Head/Kylies Beach friday for a long weekend of fishing with some mates

just after some tips, spots to help put some fish on the table

will be fishing off the stones and beach no boat sadly

what are we likely to encounter there and what kind of gear should i be taking

mates are talking jewies but they talk alot of s@#t so no trust there

thanks in advance for any help

  6. The.most recent ep of mark bergs show is filmed on nomad in the coral sea

First day first cast lands a 32kg Gt later on in the day lands a 50kg Gt

All up over 20 gts over 20kg on first days fishing

I'll be going early next yr ;)

  7. from those 3 rods i would choose the samaki

the jigwrex are great rods but there a little stiff and unless your a big guy you will tire out pretty quicky

but if your not worried about price i would look at a better quality rod

a jigging master 3 kings 200gm would be ideal

  8. Ok... New idea... I have a solid round tapered rubber "stopper". Im going to drill a hole through the center that the conduit will go through and then araldite the stopper to the conduit when in position. The stopper is tapered so the thinner end fits in the rod holder and the thicker end is wider, so it wont go all the way into the rod holder but will fit tight when pushed in. We'll see how I go... Quick question though, and probably not that important, but what is the "usual" length to the top of the springer above the side of the boat (how high do they sit above the boat)?

    Thanks

from memory mine are around 60-70cm

  9. on some of my jigging rods i used to us hand grip used on tennis rackets

it comes in a tape form and you just wrap it around the handle and it stops the eva grips from getting damaged in rod holders

pretty cheap stuff get it from sport stores

  10. mines $5-60 jigs

dropping them down knowing theres a patch of kings sitting below that big school of jackets

and just hoping the jig makes it down to the kings

sadly doesnt always work out worst to date is about 10 lost jigs in a session :ranting2:

  11. thanks for the offer mate but do they go through the gunnels? I just hesitate to cut holes in the boat! haha

Got lotsa rod holders though ;-)

yep the hole they require is tiny tho

the metal clip locks them in place when in use and when not use u remove the pin and they slide down into the gunnels so they are out of the way

might actually put them on the boat this weekend

they use them in the xxxxxxxxxxx kingie dvd seem very effective

  12. Thanks Radz that is a great idea and cheap/easy too.

Andy ive got a set of the springers that roberta posted i can set you up with

i got 2 sets and never got around to putting them in my boat

they even glow in the dark

  13. good stuff Billy time to whip out the stella 20k and pump the cannons

i no a few guys that use the big 20ks for a few drops at browns but they only manage a few

ill flick you some marks once i look over my charts

what sounder do you have on the new boat will it be able to track the bottom at browns?

  14. did you try using livies when fishing the fad ??

conditions look pretty nice out there i would of put down one of those stripys as a big live bait for a beakie :)

ive heard reports of some decent dollies taken around terrigal but these are from private fads so i cant be giving those marks out

hope you have better luck this weekend :1fishing1:

  16. Anything else been firing in Broken Bay or surrounds? I'm taking a mate out on saturday,(another PomE) and the last thing i want is for him to go home empty handed. Any reliable flathead drifts firing?

    Dave

ill send u some marks if u need em

  17. sorry mate no updates from me i haven’t hit the water in weeks due to trailer repairs

was planning to get out there this weekend but got a call last night from a mate with spare tickets to soundwave this weekend so ill be there instead

I would be trying the traps around 9mile for some dollies and don’t forget to atleast have 1 purple skirt in your spread

I hear inside pitty has lots of rats still with some decent’s mixed in

Should hopefully be back on the water next weekend I hate seeing the boat sitting in the driveway
