sounds good
im off to cairns on thursday for a weeks fishing not going to NZ until late Oct
just going for a few days jigging no sight seeing the only thing ill be seeing is 20+kg kingies being dragged over the gunnels
should be free for a bash next weekend if your keen got a few new marks that im yet to fish inside pittwater had some nice fish on them last trip out
one thing to remember about the sidescan is that it has a rather large control box that will need to be mounted close to where u have the sounder
i havnt seen your boat so not sure how you are for space

this it will help make up your mind
i no of a few ppl using it and they love it works to about 70 mtrs but would be best in the shallow water
using it in pittwater is going to be great and in the harbor will be great too
ive been too busy wasting my money on other toys i really need to get my sidescan going
once i get back from NZ its next on my shopping list
ill send you some links to some great articles on it
another neat tool to look into is Dr Depth is software i use to create 3D maps of the areas i fish
its never a good idea to ask me about things to spend money on ive got lots of ideas ha
give me a yell once you get the HDS and ill give u a run down on the unit
-
thanks mate but im all good
just bought all my gear today and as usual went over the budget
got a Tcurve King Mack Spin 8-12kg matched to a saragosa 5000 running 30lb
total came to around $670ish
-
sounds like a plan
boat has plenty of room
dont want to break any FR rules so ill PM you guys when i get back and we can get a date organized
what rod did you get SZ1
im thinking of picking up the three kings 200gm with a pe4 for a trip to nz in oct

So people with iPhones, iPads, Windows Mobile and other mobile devices get ready for a new experience and a level of use with mobile devices that have never been available before.
doesn't sound like its a standalone iphone app more like a improved mobile version
hope you haven't forgotten about us Andoid users im too lazy to write my own app
looking forward to the new changes

i use dawai saltiga boat braid and YGK Galis Ultra Jig Man X8
the YGK is more expensive but the boat braid is just as good if not better
might have trouble find the boat braid in oz but can import it from the states and its really cheap
you really dont want to be laying line as you jig as its going to slow you down
best to not fully spool the reel so it allows some extra room for the line if it starts to bunch up
-
will do
have u ever jigged with the reel before ?
how much line did you put on it
looks a little full you might run into issues when your jigging as the line is going to bunch up and get caught
unless you manually lay the line while you jig which can be a pain if you jig nice and fast
-
Doesn't seem to wobble, hopefully going to give it a test soon, just as soon as I get the mates organised as they are hopeless. If worst comes to worst ill have to wait to nz next year
im in cairns next week for a week fishing
when i get back i can get some thing arranged if you want to get out there
i need to get some training in for NZ in oct
-
looks good
how is that reel to jig with looks pretty wide does it wobble ?
when are you going to break her in
-
nice work mate
what depth of water did you catch him in
from memory jews pulled up from over 10mtrs of water have a pretty low release rate
-
$500 is a tad high but not too bad
16.9kgs is the max drag recommended by Jigging Master
dry lighting is when you attach the line to a weight on your floor then try to lift it using the rod
unless done correctly puts alot of unnatural force into the blank and you can snap the rod
the 200 is a great little rod im thinking of getting the three kings special 200gm for a trip to NZ next month
enjoy the new rod
-
there are quite a few places that stock the JM gear now
dont get carried away and do alot of dry lifting with the rod
its how alot of them turn into 2 peice rods
what did you pay for it
max drag for that rod is around 16.8kgs
-
when did they leave?
they will be in bigger numbers once the water starts to warm up and gets into the 17-21 degree range
but the easiest way to tell when there back is you will see the increase in number of kingie reports
i cant wait for summer been a pretty bad winter for me not many kings on jig hopefully going to NZ in October to make up for it
-
pittwater tends to shutdown during winter
really have to no the area well to fish it well during winter
we scored some nice bream in the high 40's last week but apart from that its been pretty slow
you would have better luck looking for birds and looking for tailor/salmon working the surface around the basin and lion island area
