  2. Thanks to everyone for your replies,

We have been fishing before but she has got bored easily but the past few days all I kept hearing was daddy can I go fishing?? so I did what any fisho father would do is give in!! all I need her to say now is "Daddy we need better fishing Gear" LOL!!

I think I will hand down the sienna to her its served me very well but going onto 4 years now perhaps time for a change or even a new sienna, its a cheap reel but for bread and butter fishing it does the job real well, I own a stradic 2500 but that is mainly for squiddin and soft plastics.

Her smiles made me think back to my childhood when I used to go fishing it was very refreshing!!

The excitement when you got a bite and all of that "Priceless"

she is very keen to get back out tomorrow lets see what tomorrow brings.

I might have to teach her how to catch livies or better yet start catching livies for her!!!

    Regards,

    Nathan

  3. Hi Raiders,

Just thought I would share todays adventure. I bought my daughter a shimano lipstix rods and she was very keen to give it a go so we went to picnic point today for a couple of hours to see if we could catch something.
I havent bought her a reel yet so I attached my sienna 2500 with 6lb braid until I decide what to get her or perhaps ill hand it down not sure yet as the trusty sienna has served me well and I dont like using the stradic that much anyway enough of that!!
after a bit of casting practise she started fishing and bites instantly and we had about 3 hours of entertainment lots of small fish and 1 decent bream around 28 cms didnt bother measuring as I told her everything will be released so didnt bother measuring anything. she loved it and wants to go again tomorrow lets see if she has the same luck tomorrow!!! anyway a few pics for your enjoyment.

    Regards,

    Nathan

  4. Nice report fabian. Happy Birthday to you also very kind of you sharing your catch but as you mentioned you got some quality time with your family which is worth more than any catch. out of interest you mention long shank no 4 I use this same hook on a regular basis. do you find that you gut hook alot of fish cause I seem to do it alot might just be me but curious to know what your experience is like also.

  5. Hi Justin,

    Welcome to Fishraider!!!

as far as fishing spots are concerned most of the spots around Port Hacking are well known and the landbased spots can get very busy.

Generally speaking most spots in sydney are very crowded.

If you plan on fishing in Sydney wheather it be Port Hacking, Georges or Parramatta River always have a backup plan if your intended spot is crowded or windy or cant be fished for whatever reason.

Hawkesbury & Central Coast are probably a better choice but it all depends on how far youre willing to travel.

In the Hacking you could try Yowie Bay Boat Ramp but bare in mind this is a boat ramp so boats have priority and probably better as a daytime spot

I have heard alot of people talk about wallys wharf, Never been there but have heard its not bad.

Lilly Pilly is another one. best thing to do is look on Google Maps see if you can find some spots that way.

I will be interested in hearing what spots are suggested to you in the Hawkesbury River as this is a spot I too am interested in fishing landbased when I cant use my tinny.

Good Luck on your adventures hope you get a few.

    Regards,

    Nathan

  6. Damn, you were lucky. to the best of your knowledge has the car ever been involved in a accident?

to break the way it did comes as a surprise, Ive seen Control arms bend after being hit but for it to crack like that is unbelieveable.

I wonder if thats happenned to anyone else with the same car.

    Regards,

    Nathan

  7. It was good that we went last night too cause I am here at Bundeena now with the family and its so windy and theres so many boats and jetskis on the water.

I normally rarely hook squid on bait and they normally let go boatside but that poor squiddy was very unlucky!!!

    Regards,

    Nathan

  8. Thanks again fabian, what a top night it was. the mrs is looking forward to cooking up the squid.

that fish you caught could have been a snook which is also known as a species of pike.

  9. sounds like a good day out with the better half and some quality time with your son. If you ever just wanted a feed it would probably be cheaper to go and buy it. but quality time is priceless. about the rotton apples they are everywhere but as long as the authorities are booking a few I feel a bit better its when they get away with it. that gets under my skin!! thanks for the report.

  10. Why I Fish is because day to day life can really take its toll on you and I just need those few hours to recharge. I always seem to sleep better after going for a fish except for when I do manage a big fish. When this happens I cant go to sleep due to replaying it over and over and looking forward to telling my mates about it the next morning!!

The best part about fishing for me is there are so many options and living in sydney we are spoilt for choices the only downer is traffic but once youre at your desired spot its all worth it.

    Regards,

    Nathan
