  1. Yeah they have some big bruisers around there. Love taking the kids when they do the feeding at the marina.
  2. Nice reddie there, good one for Sydney and off the rocks as well.
  3. Nice report @Oscarthebeagle. Sounds like a nice couple of days out with the family.
  4. Wow nice haul there Yowie, bit of a Port Hacking Fisherman's basket.
  5. Hey @Flickn Mad, I head out there quite a bit, most weekends if possible. I always check out the swell and wind beforehand and if either is up I head elsewhere. The ramp launch is pretty easy and usually flat. Within the bay you can target squid which sometimes are about, try around where you launch. I usually don't have the patience for squid and head out to the front of Yellow Rock (Boora Point). I usually start tolling straight away from the ramp and have picked up tailor, salmon, pike and trevally within the bay itself. For about a year I fished this spot with a Tarpon 100 (3m length). It was slow and sluggish but stable. I now have a Profish 400 which is much more suited for it. In saying that, I kayaked for about 5 years before fishing offshore at this spot. Reason being is Yellow Rock can sometimes have some crazy dangerous backwash going on depending on swell direction. You really have to keep an eye on both swell coming in and off the rocks. Let me know if you have any questions, happy to help out.
  6. Wow congrats Henry. That is one amazing catch and an awesome write up as well. Felt like I was there watching it all happen. I'm sure you had some sore arms after that one.
  7. Awesome thanks Duncan, was wondering if you could just pay the difference and get the twin.
  8. Hey dlvbw, How do you find the twin tackle pod, does it work well? I've tried to see if they stock them in Aus but couldn't find it online.
  9. Cool thanks Jason. Yeah liking the idea of an easy to transport kayak.
  10. Hi Jason, Wondering how you're finding the GT so far? I'm currently looking at the profish 400 or GT. Do you ever head offshore / coast or just estuaries? Cheers, Damian
  11. Hey Krause, I'm selling an Ocean Kayak Prowler Ultra 4.3 with icebox and Pacific Action Sail. PM for details. Cheers, Damian
  12. I've got a C-Tug. Good trolley and I break it down to store in the front hatch while on the water.
  13. Ah cool thought I was missing something. Cheers.
  14. Cheers thanks Lungfai. So with the predrilled hole under the tackle box, do you mean within the centre hatch?
  15. Recently I upgraded my yak from a Tarpon 100 to a second hand OK Prowler Ultra 4.3. I have had it for a month or so and am starting to look into a sounder for it but have a few questions that I'm hoping someone may have answers to. 1. I want to make use of the transducer scupper hole but do I have to use a Humminbird model? Do Garmin transducers fit?2. Do I need to purchase the transducer kit? I have tried locating one but can't seem to find one online in Aus3. Do you need to drill a hole to feed the cable for the battery?Would love to hear what other OK owners have done. Previously on the Tarpon I had an internal wet mount which I had to add water to each session. Found it pretty annoying hence trying to make use of the OK preset scupper.
  16. Great write up guys, sounds like you had a nice morning on the water. I headed out on my yak to Malabar and it was definitely one of the nicer mornings I've had on the water in a while with perfect conditions.
  17. Nice one Mike, congrats on the first flatty on plastic. I also like the Z-mans as they are super tough, but using the Gulp minnow smelt colour (looks like a little poddy mullet) always seems to get a flatty in the estuaries.
  18. Nice one and what a sight landing it in your undies
  19. Hey Wellzy, I recently installed a Lowrance 4x Chirp on my old yak and wasn't that impressed with it. If I was offshore and there was a little whitewash beneath from some backwash, it couldn't read too well. I'm not sure of the differences between the options you mentioned. Be interested to hear other peoples view of it. Previously I had an Eagle Cuda 128 which was so basic but worked much much better but couldn't find a replacement one when looking. I recently upgraded my yak so might look into a Hummingbird next.
  20. Got a few on my 2500 reel spooled with 10lb braid 14lb leader. A couple by flicking a soft plastic into some bust ups and one other when I was reeling my halco scorpion in after trolling. That one grabbed it right at the yak and took a good 5 min to get in. Was only 60cm, felt like I might finally get my first legal kingy but wasn't to be. Lots of fun though.
  21. Cheers thanks Scratchie. Yeah that's the spot. Got quite a few on the yak a few years back at Boat harbour but nothing this time. Am land based at the moment so finding spots hard to find if you want to avoid crowds. Thanks for all your other Port Stephens info as well, very informative.
  22. Anyone had any luck here for squid lately? I'm up here for another week or so and tried it on dusk a few nights ago with not one hit. Tide was pretty low though and walked out to one of the the points on the north side. Any other land based spots i could try? Any advice would be appreciated. Cheers, Damian
  23. Nice one Duncan. I head out Malabar quite often on my yak as well and it can definitely get quite bumpy. Have had a few paddles back feeling a little green. Got a few rat kingys there last few outings and they sure go hard. Just upgraded my Tarpon 100 to an Ocean Kayak Prowler 4.3 so might bump into you one day. Cheers, Damian
  24. Mate if your heading that way maybe check Grays Point. Drive to the end of Grays Point Rd and there is a small car park. Walk down the track to the sand flats and walk all the way to the point where the sand flats enter the channel. Can only really be fished at low tide and you can also pump nippers for bait. Great spot for the kids as well. Another good option land based is Illawong. Follow Old Ferry Rd to the river and on the right you will see some platforms to fish off. I've picked up some good flathead, bream and even trevalley.
  25. Great report and photos. That one of the whale is absolutely amazing, great shot.
