Dreams & Insight. Fishraider Produces Tv Fishing Shows !

Hi everyone . We all know there is a real shortage of TV fishing shows in Australia and I reckon, in foresight that we will soon be in a position as our membership grows to be able to do someting about it.

Fishing is the number one participator sport in Australia and swimming runs a distant second.

I replied to another post from a member mentioning the lack of TV coverage for fishing. A copy of my replies are below.

Fish Raider is growing at a breathtaking rate we will be the biggest and best in the country some time in the future. There is no doubt about that! I have time on my hands and am just thinking ahead.

We all know of Fishing W.A.'s achievements in a very small State in comparison to ours.

We have an awesome Administration Team, hard working Moderators, fantastic Sponsors and Australia's best fishermen as members, make no mistake about that.

I often have time on my hands for thinking ahead be it for fishing or life in general.

So I hope the following has your attention and your thinking caps are on. Please read on:.-

First post but love the site......

Tell me if I'm wrong but are there any fishing shows on the commercial networks at the moment? ET, Ifish and Rex no where to be seen (I know you can get all the re-runs of Fox).... I did notice Alex Julius had a morning show some months back. But now there's nothing.....

Whats happening to free TV?

Until now I had no idea how to find out what was coming up on TVS so thanks for that! There used to be 3-4 good quality fishing shows on the weekend and now there`s nothing..................

DREAMS AND INSIGHT FISHRAIDER PRODUCES TV FISHING SHOWS !!! ---- By jewgaffer

Let's go on with the show !!!

I'll tell you a story about dreams and insight.

In I994 the President of the Australian Professional Billiards & Snooker Australian N.S.W. Branch and The Senior Vice President of the Victorian Branch approached me to run the N.S.W. Pro-Am Snooker Title.

Being a Pro Am, entry was open to ranked Pro snooker players from England and Pro snooker players from all over the world.

I had no experience only reasonably astute self employed small business experience and a love of the game of the Snooker from the Pot Black years and dream and insight.

Little did I know they had handed me a poison chalice as clubs wanted the snooker table space for monetory reasons and sponsors were simply not interested due to the fact that spectator crowds to Snooker tournaments had dwindled away due to the fact that Snooker, due to population trends was no longer very popular due to moving away from it's old world traditionally Anglo Saxon roots.

The previous year had hardly any spectators throughout and the less than twenty spectators at the final were mainly officials and referees. That was a great embarrassment to the club who set up the venue, the Sponsors who laid out the cash and the organizors who had no idea of dreams and insight only years of negativity that lead to false promises and the same old withdrawing, defeatist attitude that everything was impossible.

By the time I put my hopes and aspirations, my own dreams and insight into reality, and considering them as big name drawcards to get the show off shaky ground, I worked on professional players first, the actors if you like, with guaranteed big prize money before I had any sponsors or raised prize money and got starters to agree to come to my home town to play in an Australian Snooker title from England, Asia, Canada and New Zealand. I got commitments from Australian Title holders from every state and Pot Black Champions as well, only by dreams and insight capitalising on the big names I had so far and so on..

So I had the the actors and stars didn't I just like we have on Fishraider and they were big world recognisable names.

The number of contestants was 135 including champion lady players and juniors in keen to support the event compared to the previous best of 38. Perhaps they had dreams and insight too !!!

Result was that I raised over $60,000 in prizemoney from sponsors, an awesome improvement of the lousy $3000 raised the previous year for an almost non event. This was done by having big name players, the actors for the show, and that was the answer for getting sponsorship and raising enough money to run it and give it a ballooning effect.

A brand new car put up by Diahutsu Australia for a near impossible maximum 147 break. The car was won by Warren King of S.A. rated number twenty at the Crucible ratings in England. The 147 break was the first ever made in Australia and the record still stands. The runner up was Robbie Foldvari, the winner of the Wilie Thorn U.K Professional Snooker Championship and the Professional Billiards champion of the world. Willie Thorne, a former Pot Black Series Champion is currently the main commentator of the World Snooker Championships at the Crucible in England.

Just like you make good friends on Fishraider, I took Willie Thorne nightfishing in Melbourne, a young Scot named John Higgins, the 2007 World Champion and three World Snooker Champion, nightclubbing at the Bentleigh club in Melbourne and introduced Robbie Foldvari to his would be wife, a lady snooker player from Queensland.

It all came out of nothing but dreams and insight.

There were 611 spectators at the final near standing room only in the club auditorium and the only thing the old jewgaffer had to do was to stand there in a dinner suit and bow tie and hold a microphone.

The sponsors Accor Pacific (Owners of Formula1 motels and the Mercure Holiday units at Surfer's Paradise made a trip over from Belgium to hand out the gold trophy, Clinton Motors handed over the keys of the car and Carlton United, the main prize money sponsors, and the host club were ecstatic at the spectators and viewers, I tell ya.

This only came about from from dreams and insight so yes why wouldn't some call me a dreamer.

My only main helper was the great fishing legend Jimmy Bowers now living back home in Ballina, himself a fishing champion of champions, a snooker tournament champion at the same time, and former brother in law and lifetime fishing mate of our own Stewy Swordfisherman and the fishing mentor of young Jay Cottrell aka jakjayno1 who recently caught that 21.8 kilo Giant Trevally on a Gold Bomber lure in a little spot in the Tweed River, and Jimmy is also the mentor of the Lennox Hd / Ballina young gun Phil "fish kill" Scott himself, soon to become a Fishraider, I believe.

So we sure have plenty of top venues and great array of top TV stars don't we and those mentioned are only a fraction of the talent the mighty Fishraider.com.au can produce.

SHOULD WE SOLDIER ON WITH PROGRESS AND FUTURE DEVELOPMENT IN MIND ?

HAVING A TV FISHING SHOW IS NOT IMPOSSIBLE. IT'S ALL ABOUT PEOPLE NOT BUILDINGS. IT'S ALL ABOUT FRIENDSHIPS AND FISHING. IT'S ALL ABOUT ACTORS, STAR PLAYERS AND A GOOD MANAGEMENT TEAM, GOVERNMENT SUBSIDIES FOR JUNIOR DEVELOPMENT AND SPONSORS WHO SEE GOOD VALUE AND GET BEHIND POPULAR SPORTS.

LOVE TO HEAR COMMENTS FROM YOU ALL.

Let's go on with the show !!!

And it's bloody easy  I tell ya

Cheers

jewgaffer :1fishing1:

PS.

In case someone asks, No I'm not standing for Prime Minister this year I'm just going fishing with friends as usual :074:

Hi Jewgaffer

How lucky are the kids up there (and the parents!?) I reckon if most kids got into fishing (provide the family with a feed) & other outdoor sports (learning new skills) their self esteem would skyrocket & we'd have less crime on the streets.

Cheers

I'm quite happy to lend a hand should the reality of producing a TV show should arise.

I have an audio/video/graphic/web design background.

I have worked in a post production studio doing documentaries, TV ads, short films. I currently promote my own music events and have contacts in many facets of the entertainment industry.

I can get us time in the studio to produce a pilot as well as voice over artists, 3D animators, music producers, camera/light/sound crews etc.

Drive, determination & organization is all that is required.

I would be happy to meet to help with the creation of a road map for the project should this be required.

I have only been a member of these forums for a short time. I much prefer it to others as it is local and personal - without all the knockers.

Fishing, was my escape from the path of excess.. it still is my solace, so I am happy to put back into it.

Hi Raiders`

with the enthusiasm in this site not too mention the depth of talent in so many different areas I dont see why this couldn`t be organised and probably a lot easier than many of you think

As I explained to jewgaffer in a PM I have a close friend who is quite a well known actor/comedien.The entertainment industry had been a bit quiet so my mate had been doing a bit of labouring for me to fill in the gaps, make ends meet and so on.In the mean time TVS had just started to air on syd tv and Gaz saw this as a great opportunity to get back onto the television scene. So he got hold of another comedien mate and they made a tape up with a few shows on it.They simply purchased air time which is paid for by their sponsors ie those who`s businesses got a mention in the show and put it to air!Within a cple of weeks an interstate commercial network picked it up and it just snowballed from there with a radio station grabbing them for a drivetime show once a week etc etc.Sadly I hardly see him these days as he`s always jumping on a plane or off to a gig etc etc!

Cheers Big Ears

Wow, I just asked if there was any other fishing shows on TV.....I didn't expect as a new member with just two stars and on my first post, you'd go to the trouble of producing an entire series for me, just so i could get my weekly fix of fishing on the box.....I'm looking at getting my house rendered and adding a second story, you don't want to cover off on that little desire at the same time do ya?

Fabulous ideas one and all.

We certainly have some expertise amongst our members.

This idea is well worth exploring and would take much planning.

We may hold a live chat for interested parties in the near future to formally organise a project.

Please pm or email Stewy or myself regarding offers of assistance or expertise.

Thanks jewgaffer for bringing this idea up to the forum again.

Cheers mrssworfisherman
