Fab1 Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Caught these beauties fishing 8lb mono straight through down to a 2 hook paternoster and #4ls/hooks using freshly pumped squirt worms. All fish caught on the drift around Greenwell pt and Orion pt. Cheers.
Scratchie Posted February 1, 2015 Posted February 1, 2015 Nothing like a feed of whiting! Nice catch fab1. Cheers scratchie!!!
Yowie Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 A good haul there, and the squirties are really good bait.
hookerbruce Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Good work on the big feed of whiting. Shoalhaven river gets fished heavily and netted, yet always produces good catches for me too. I'll be going down there in 2 weeks hoping the whiting will eat nippers as well. Hookerbruce.
fragmeister Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 That's a great photo of some very fresh fish. What a contrast against what you would find in a fish shop. Top catch... simply mouthwatering!
jenno64 Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Wow, great haul....what size did they average?
bessell1955 Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 The last time I had a fish at Greenwell point we could only catch flatties. Great to see you have expanded and caught a great feed of whiting.
Fab1 Posted February 2, 2015 Author Posted February 2, 2015 Wow, great haul....what size did they average? They range in size from 30-43cm.Going off that 36.5cm average. Thanks to all who replied with their comments also.
innovative Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Awesome catch. Whiting has been alittle slow around Sydney not as hot as last summer yet.
Paikea Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 Lovely fish, great to catch and even better to eat. Well done, thanks for sharing. Cheers Paikea
Bardy Posted February 3, 2015 Posted February 3, 2015 Hey Fab, where do u get Squirt worms from ? Cheers Pb
Fab1 Posted February 3, 2015 Author Posted February 3, 2015 Hey Fab, where do u get Squirt worms from ? Cheers Pb I have a few spots around Minamurra and the Shoalhaven.Find yourself the most secluded sand/mudflat with the gentlest of slopes keeping an eye out for the telltale holes which should produce a few along with the humble nipper. Some of the sandflats I've come across have held nippers, squirties and soldier crabs as they all make terrific whiting bait. Good luck with it.
