NSW Boater Survey to help improve safety, services and infrastructure

Transport for NSW has launched a Boater Survey to better understand the way people use their boats and watercraft on NSW waterways.

This represents an opportunity to help Transport for NSW and Roads and Maritime to identify key issues facing the boating public.

Results from the survey will help design programs that deliver more accurate and efficient outcomes in safety, services and infrastructure to the boating public.

The survey will take approximately 20 minutes to complete. All responses will remain anonymous.

The survey is at:

https://www.ipsossurveys.com.au/O17Y0401/

The public who complete the survey are in with a chance to win:

  • Kannad Safelink sportpro+ GPS EPIRB and GMEGX800 Hand Held Marine Radio (combined value over $1,100)

  • 1 of 10 L150N Auto Inflatable Pro Fit lifejackets (valued over $145 each)

I did it.

But i would suggest that when they ask the question about your last trip out on the water that you answer the question relating to your most common style of trip out on the water as this question leads into very detailed questions which is what they want to know. I answered truthfully which meant i answered a heap of detailed questions about fishing in a river from a kayak which i would be lucky to do once a year, if that. This means that all of my answers are not really indicative of the majority of my use of waterways which would be launching a power boat in a river to fish the river and ocean, with a different number of people, whole heap of different safety gear and procedures and alot more time spent on the water. The questions lead into safety procedures, equipment, timelines, launching etc.

Are you able to fill out another one, this time replying what you do most of the time?  Maybe you should have a look into it Captain Spanner. I'm sure your input (like many other Raiders) would be highly beneficial to the survey. Cheers, bn
