tryhard
Comming back to middle harbour from a weekend on the Hawkesbury, came across a (looks like) 40 + ft Sunseeker on the rocks at Grotto point. Any one know the story?

Yeh, the captain made a very expensive mistake Could have broken from a mooring or from anchor, whatever the story it hurts just looking at it! noelm
Best guess, high tide, cut the corner a tad close, tide goes out, that's the result.
tryhard
Seems endemic! Another one on the rocks at Fig Tree point!
61 crusher
From memory years ago a famous hair stylist put his supercharged boat on long reef & a well known game fisher parked his vessel between the pole marker & kirribilli house opposite the opera house 😜

zmk1962
It was still here yesterday morning on our way out .... and coming back mid afternoon ... a couple of tug boats and crane barges were heading in that direction though. Cheers Zoran

At high tide the starboard marker is around 50m from shore and it can blend in with the bush across the bay, LOTS of boats don't see it and bingo !!! tryhard
I think that the marker is pretty easy to pick out. It has 2 large "No wash" signs on it.

shakey55
I read or heard somewhere that the Grotto Point incident, the boat was being driven at the time by a woman in her 80’s. Can’t find anything to confirm or negate. Appears to have taken an expensive short cut.
