big Neil
Mainly as a distraction to the impacted lives we're all leading at present, I put forward some "photos" of the area where I live. May provide a beneficial distraction from what has become our "norm". Maybe others may join in? bn 5
Blackfish
Thanks Neil, I always love your River photos, we loose that tranquility and the senses of individuality often living in a big city. Great part of the country.
kingie chaser
With all that is going on at the moment looking out the window tonight just can't help but make me feel like we are just a miniscule spec in the big picture of the billions of years since creation. We are not here for long to experience what life has to offer, even shorter when you add up lockdowns! Still a beautiful sight none the less.
big Neil
Great photo KC. It totally sums up the point which you make... we all think of our own significance, relative to the lives we lead, yet we are but grains of sand (on a beach) in the "BIG PICTURE". Life is good, even though it may be difficult sometimes. bn

Rebel
This was accross the road from my home New Years Eve 2019. I hope there is no repeat this summer. 5
Green Hornet
Great shot Rebel. Scary when those sort of flames get too close to homes. This was my backyard a few years ago. Edited September 13, 2021 by Green Hornet 3

What a fabulous photo Rebel. If a picture paints a thousand words, this one writes novels. Having been in a bush fire I can FEEL the power of the elements in your photograph. Brilliant, thanks for sharing it. bn

I suppose the adjective "SUPERB" trumps excellent so we'll go with that descriptor for now. It's great to see photos that stimulate genuine feelings in the audience. Good thread. I love trying to capture the beauty of some of the places I'm lucky enough to visit in my travels, and it's great to be able to share the images with some like minded legends! 15 hours ago, DerekD said: Excellent?? Rebel
This was at the end of my street 2019 New Years Eve. Two houses were burnt down. 5
Green Hornet
Another great pic Rebel, but a tragedy as well. That's the price we pay to live close to the bush.
Rebel
That fire was so close. The wind changed and it jumped the river and headed north. I was up all night, with the hose putting out embers. Some neighbours left thinking it was all over and they were going to lose their homes. Cheers.
DerekD
Wildlife - found this young tawny frogmouth hanging around with its parent outside my dad's place. It was curious when I was in the area but didn't appear agitated and it was still sitting there after it was nice enough to let me take these photos. Check out the eyelids in the second photo. Please note that these were taken with a telephoto lens to minimise disturbance to these lovely birds. And the parent....
