The joys of running your own business is been able to push work aside to enjoy the little things in life.

Me and Chris again organized our trip to stanwell park bright and early, 4.30 am my place and headed out of the port hacking, its only about a 45 minute run , left wallys Warf about 6.15 and got to our spots in front of the bridge  7am , the bight was hot, no monsters , all pannies from 38 to 55 but could not have asked for better conditions or a better bight, we bagged out by 9am and kept 7 smaller fish in the live well, as we up graded we let the smaller fish go to fight another day.

Sofy plastics white glow 7" zman shads , elkat gangs, and home made rigs did the damage, rods i use no more 6 foot 8 to 10 kg , 40 lb line ultra thin, leader 30kg, and pillies as bait

Back at the ramp by midday to clean the fish and the boat and a well deserved beer and rest , get amongst them guys, its snapper season

That is a great haul. The Nannygai is the largest I have seen in quiet a while.

You got to be happy with a catch like that.

Thought it was a Red Snapper ( not the common Snapper to it's right of photo ) but looks like it's got 6 dorsal spikes where the red snapper has 7 .

But then again the curved shape of the head is evident of the Red Snapper.

Any experts care to comment ?.

  • Basil D changed the title to Stanwell park snapper AGAIN!

A solid haul @Basil D, Those are great fish and some big Nannies. I’ve found  the Elkat gangs rust pretty quickly? Is this your experience also?

It looks like your into snapper sashimi mate - unscaled and not gutted and tail first 🤣

Looks like you found the spot! 👍

Must of been non stop action - gotta love those days!

There are so many spots down there, sometimes the same spot fires, other times if there are no bits withing 10 minutes or so we move to another spot, but we never drop baits etc if there is no bait on the sounder

Exactly Basil! That there is the secret! It’s how I’ve caught my largest snapper. Look for bait balls over reef and the snapper will be sitting underneath.
