  1. Hi Mate, I was from Melbourne and regurarly speak to some fishos down there. Not too sure about Corio but there are good squid spots at Mornington and Seaford. Good snapper taken off Seaford in the last few weeks. Heaps of squid and rat kings bay side of the heads. Monster Victorian flattys up to 55cm pretty much anywhere in the bay. There are gummy sharks and whalers taken at Phillip island year round. If I were you I'd take a look at a Victorian fishing site to get the down low on the fishing there. Good Luck. Pete
  2. Very swish Leo. Looks like gary does some pretty good work. I'll have to look at getting something soon. Pete
  3. Hi All, Do boat insurers cover for accidents also. I.e hit an underwater structure or another boat or jetty etc.. Just curious. Pete
  4. Hi Guys, I have an old 85hp merc, 73 model, but she has cut out a few times when i have thought it has been hot. Is there a cutoff or solenoid which would get hot and shut her off. I can restart a second later but maybe 10mins later will do the same. I have had a timing issue in the past. Pete
  5. Awsome video mate. I was there..... Some beaut fish and the company and banter seemed fantastic. Cheers Pete
  6. Hey Leo, Wasn't sure you could read mate, just thought you looked at the pictures!!! Seriously though, with dictionary in hand I'm sure you'll do a great job. Congrats mate, and I look forward to my post's being modified in the future. Cheers 007
  7. Good going steve, Can't wait to hit the water with you soon mate. Cheers Pete
  8. Hi Guys, After buying an old boat just on a year ago, I spent the last few months fixing the motor as it had a few issues, it's a 1973 85hp Mercury. Nothing flash, but she'll do me for fishing etc... Anyway Friday saw the last of the repairs so decided to take it out Sunday as the weather looked good. Launched early by myself and drifted for 2 hrs flicking blades and vibes for anly a few tiddlers and hits. Decided to anchor up and try some bait and burly for a bit and started to get a few bites after about a half haour. My line kept moving with some weight on it so I knew ther were some crabs about. Dropped 3 at the boat but managed to net one blue swimmer as I wasn't equiped for crabbing. Gonna get me some hand lines!! A short while later I had a great run on a peeled prawn and I called it for a soapie. After a fight with 6lb leader I get this 70cm flatty to the boat. The phone camera doesn't do her justice. As soon as I saw the fish I turned the drag down and tried on 2 occasions to swim her into the net. She dived again and on the third attempt I came up trumps. I stuck it out for another hour or so for nothing. I tried a few more spots for nothing also. Not having a sounder really limited my options not knowing depth or being able to see the bottom. Hopefully a week or so till I can get one. For a boat fishing newbie I was pretty stoked. Can't wait to learn the BW system. Got two beautifull fillets about a kilo each for tea tonight. Cheers Pete
  9. Way to go guys, another milestone for you there Ray. Cheers

  11. Bloody good fish there mate. I'm still trying to get the monkey off my back. I've had a few good runs but haven't come up tight yet. Should be into a few by Xmas me thinks...
  12. Way to go Cam, outfish the old man hey, I'm sure as you get older that will become a regular occurance. Leo, how good is it taking the young fella out in the boat. Can't wait for my little mate to get a little bit older so we can piss off together and leave mum at home. Cheers 007. Oh, cam nice fish too buddy. Can't wait to have a fish with you mate, maybe you can give me a few pointers...
  13. Nice Garfish mate. I sent you a PM. Cheers 007...
  14. Well done on the catch fellas. Nice to see two mates enjoying a day off work, and on the water to boot. Saw you at the boat shop in West Gosford Hutcho when you were connecting your boat up, was gonna come say hi but by the time i parked you had taken off. Oh well.... I would like to know what ramp that is also. Cheers Pete
  15. Hi Anthony, Pleased to hear you showed some newbies the ropes, so to speak. Your mate even landed a oouple. Nice.. Just have to get em some more fish, and they'll be hooked. Well done. 007... By the way, what knots did you show them, and who cleaned the fish?
  16. Hey Mongo, Nice to see you got out there and had a crack. I was a tad dusty from the finals (Glad that's all over till next year) or I would have been out in the Brisbane Waters also. Couple of nice lizard there and a happy little camper with a big grin. I'll keep an eye out for you and say hi if I see ya on the water. What type of boat you fish from. Cheers Peter
  17. Hey Craig, I don't really fish the beaches much, but I do my fair share of rock fishing around these parts. I'm no expert, but have been known to catch the odd fish or two. Send me a PM if you are interested to tag along some time, I'm not sure if I can teach you anything but at least you'll have some company. Cheers, Peter
  18. Great getting the family into it. Nice catch by the young fella. I'mm gonna give BW a crack tomorrow, fingers crossed.... 007
  19. Thats funny mate, i've caught myself once but not deep and just in the hand... OUCH..
  20. Raiders, After reading a few of Cungee George's reports, I am interested to find out what other raiders have caught on a squid jig. As for myself I have only managed squid, but on one occasion as I had the squid to the surface about 15 meters from the rocks and I think it was a large kingy smashed me and took the squid and jig from me. Tell us your story... Cheers 007
  21. Nice one buddy, beaut photo's as always.
  22. Yeah, I got it off no trouble, but the covers are shot. Do you know where I can get some more covers for the motor. I've heard that the gaskets are easy to source but they didn't make the covers after market??? I'm desperate and the motor is apart. Give me a PM or call me on 0448 851 346 if you can give me a few leads. I will try to source some tomorrow. Cheers Peter
  23. Hi, I've got some water coming from number 2 spark plug. It's the head gasket (i'm pretty sure). Has anyone changed one of these on a similar motor and is it hard to do? I'm a bit cheap to spend the $150 on the manual so am looking for a few clues as to weather i should attempt this myself. I'm convinced it just a few bolts and plaining the block, install the gasket etc, but would like some info from past experiences.... Cheers 007
