  1. You think it was only just over a year ago when we first met and now look at you. How much fun is it getting out on your own boat. You mentioned that your motor started first pop? Have you been having some issues. My motor always starts, eventually, but I stress none the less. Great to be out though hey!! Cheers Peter
  2. Nice catch there Ray. I've been too lazy, with my winter coat and all. I'll have to get down there and shed a few pounds
  3. In my opinion, to catch big snaper off the rocks, you need to put in the time. Alot of those up to 40cm Snapper around, the bigger ones are few and far between. The bigger snapper will be deeper. 007
  4. Nice one Mondo, great catch there. Haven't been out latley myself, you've inspired me. Cheers Pete
  5. Nice catch there mate. Pitty the Bream didn't wanna play.
  6. Great to be out there. Nice Pigs...
  7. I agree with Anthony but also try bread as bait. It's underated but it works a treat. I cast as far as i can towards structure or something and use a slow retrieve constantly keeping pressure on the line. Little hooks are a must as Bream have little mouths. A gun fisho once told me(while explaining why I should use small hooks)that Elephants eat peanuts. Good luck 007
  8. The bloody Japs at it again, or should I say still at it.
  9. Hi guys, I planning a trip to Port Stephens and I need to find out where the sanctuary's are. Can anyone post any usefulll link's with maps or something please. I'd hate to do the wrong thing. Cheers Peter
  10. I recon that's a Still a good catch. I heard no good to eat but great as bait... 007
  11. I can't tell them apart. Identical smiles, identical Jews. Bloody mirror image, must have been one of you camera tricks mate. Some cracking fish there Ray, and looks like you and Hutcho had a really good time. Cheers 007
  12. How good was that. Barra, choppers, best mates, and an experience you'll never forget. Your first chopper ride is always one you'll never forget. What a fantastic trip. Can't wait to hear about it in person. So Ray, are you all fished out??? 007
  13. Hi guys, After repairing a few broken guides last week I thought I'd give building a custom rod for myself a go. With some valued advice from Customcasting who has a fair bit of experience in this field I set out to build a Bream/Blackfish rod for the rocks. The blank of choice was a 4144 with a graphite butt. I chose fugi guides and a fugi reel seat. I bound the rod at work turning it manually with two threads at once. Black and Navy Blue were the colours I chose for the bindings. Took me about 3hrs to bind all the guides and tape the blank in preparation for the reel seat. I had a little help from Customcasting with putting the resin on as he had a rotisary at home to suit the task. The rod came up a treat and I'm stoked with the finish. I've gone the way of a Pfluger MG 8035 for the reel and I can't wait to give it a whirl over the weekend or early next week. Will put up a few pic's later if anyone is interested. For any of you Bream out there reading this...... WATCHOUT Cheers 007
  14. Hi Mate, I would listen to wannabefisho, however if you really want to fish the central coast then pretty much any beach will do you fine for Salmon or tailor. Just look for the gutters, and fish into the night a bit. Tides look good for this weekend so good luck. Plenty of Bream around also. If you catch tailor, I'd use it for bait as Bream love it and tailor will eat tailor also. The mighty peeled prawn or pilchard should serve you well also. Bit of berly goes a long way also. Cheers 007
  15. Hi mate, If I were you I'd increase my chances and use pleanty of burly. Good luck with the adventure. Can't wait to read the post. "My Daughters first fish" Cheers 007
  16. Good to see you got what you came for. Well done
  17. Great feed and some quality fresh bait you got there mate. Shame abut the reddies. Catch up soon mate. Cheers
  18. Hi Guys, I'm heading to W.A. for a few weeks over Xmas etc. and will be wanting to do a bit of Beach and rock fishing. Does anyone have any advice for me in regards to this area and type of fish I can catch there. It's about 40 mins North of Perth where I'll be staying, but I would be prepared to travel up to an hour or so on good advice. Any info or a pointer in the right direction would be surely welcomed. Cheers Peter
  19. I concur with the guys on this one. I used to get heaps of knots but as soon as I stripped some line off the spool, all came good. Well I didn't actually strip it off, a few of the knots were un-doable so I had to cut them out. I now leave about 3 to 4mm gap when spooling up new braid.
  20. I was actually squidding and I could see the schools moving down the rocks towards the beach. At first they were busting up but then they dropped a bit. At first I was sight casting.
  21. Southern end rocks. However if you fish the beach, you should get a few there also. Good luck mate
