  12. Hi Raiders, Gonna do an all nghter in Lake mac this Saturday night till sunday lunchtime. Any tips on bait fishing for flattys, I'm going to use plastics but not the whole time. Also what type of rig, size hook, lead do I use. I will also target Bream which I think I've got under controll but may have a crack at whiting also. Any tips on rigs and baits they like would be most helpful. There's a few boats going in our group, but no fishing experts. Everyone is relying on me for advice but I'm just a novice myself, and I haven't done much boat fishing in the past. All feed back is greatly appreciated. Regards 007 (Peter)
  13. G'day, I'm no expert but I sort of use a quarter of a slice at a time, minus the crust and roll it around a number 2 or 4 hook. I just expose the tip of the barb a few mm then cast out. Sometimes I use no weight, just roll on the bread then squeese, dip it in water for a few seconds and cast. (Bread must be fresh in my opinion.) I sort of work it like a lure, drifting it with the currents, waves etc, and slowly retrving. Hope this helps. 007
  14. Raiders, Was just told by one of my employees that there is a competition to catch the tagged fish (Frank) in lake Macquarie this weekend. $40k is the prize if you land it. What kind of fish is is and where are they releasing it? Does anyone have more information. Regards Peter 007
  15. Hi Raiders, Woke up a bit dusty Sunday morning but decided to go fishing anyways. I said to myself good day for hunting pigs, boy was I wrong. Arrived at the ledge about 5.30 and it was still a tad dark so I just sat down and contemplated my plan of attack. I soon started burlying up and it wasn't long before I could see some surface action from the local Bream . I started a few drifts over a reefy section and it wasn't long before I was into a few smaller models, so back in they went. It went a bit quiet for the next hour and a half and I thought I must have spooked the school by letting the smaller ones back into the drink. Continued burlying up and it wasn't long before the school returned. I could actually see them loitering around in a few spots. I tried to drift some surface bait but no takers. So I added a little lead and bang I was on again. Over the next hour I landed a luderick, some rock cod's, about 10 Bream, half were undersize, and a salmon on Bread. I threw the cod's and Salmon back but I put the keeper Bream into a bag. One of my loaves of bread got wet so I thought I'd burly up a little more with it and maximise the good bread I had left for a few more keepers. Wasn't long before I was into a few more keeper Bream, these ones taking the baits about 3/4 of the way down. I hooked another nice luderick but I dropped him on the lift out. Was only just hooked in the lip. So here I am having an absolute ball, the fish are on the chew and I've only got about half a dozen bread baits left. I was spewing cause I hadn't had a session like this in a while and as I said a loaf of good stuff got wet. Next few casts got hit, but no hook up, then........whammmo. I called it for a luderick but was extatic whan I saw it was a nice tailor of around 45cm. Woo Hoo, more Bream bait. Next 2 hours I landed about 15 Bream and a couple of sub 60cm Salmons. I was landing a fish every 3rd drift and getting hit nearly every other one. With a few more small tailor thrown into the mix I had had enough and was starving, out of smokes and really in need of a bathroom. Final tally was 3 salmon, 3 tailor, 2 rock cods, I Luderick (1 dropped at my feet also), and 27 Bream landed. 4.5hours of fun. I think I've gotten this Breaming thing a little more down pat, and can't wait to have another go next week in another new spot which I'm planning to try. Cheers 007 A few of the smaller ones swimming in one of the rock pools A Few more Dinner P.S. All the smaller Bream which I had put into the rock pools were hand caught and released back to the ocean. This took me a good 20mins. They are pretty fast, slippery litle suckers. I took home 9 decent Bream and the luderick for the Mother In Law. Cheers
