  1. You can fit most of a 60cm kingfish into a 25kg jewies mouth, so and A.dawg said there is no yakka to big for a jewie. As for mullet burely them up with abit of bread, then a size 14 or 16 hook, 3-6kg line, handline, bread as bait simple, and you might also pick ups some gars too, but with gars let them run with your bait for a bit the stike, but not to hard. Some say you need expensive brand bread, but i find the cheap home brand works just as good. Well the coles homebrand does! Fresh squid is still top bait! Cheers, Zac
  2. I think big pretators eg jewies and kingys, sometimes count on smell not just eye sight to find food. So i would use a sinker but try and go for the lightest sinker that you can get away with. If at night i would really worry about sinkers and floats, just cast it out and hold on, because in most cases jewies come up the water colum to find food. Hope it help Cheers, Zac
  3. Isnt there a starlo stix tournament rod that is designed to cast poppers and small lures??
  4. Its so thin!! But is it any good?? I will mostly be using 30lb Any feedback will be greatly appriciated Cheers, Zac
  5. Ahhh right! Think i might just stick to what the rod and reels line rating is for now. Cheers, Zac
  6. I recently watched a episode of Hooked (aurora) that i recorded. He was catching Kingys and on another one but one of his DVD's Kingfish secrets and he said he uses 40lb to 50lb braid on a 8kg or 10kg rod or 15kg if he needs some pulling power? I though to my self 8kg rod with 24kg+ braid?? Wouldnt the rod brake? Please explain?? Cheers, Zac
  7. Cant go past nuclear chicken, but i use 5inch jerk shads in nuclear chicken for flatties. Cheers, Zac
  8. Nice fish mate! Why do people buy rods just to throw them out??
  9. Mate, all you need is a bait jig and a bit of pilchard, put little bits of pillie on the hook, they go crazy for it mate! If there hard to catch simple bread and lil tuna oil mix up and mushed up, throw in little hand fulls every 5-15 mins Cheers, Zac
  10. I knew i should have said where i caught my kingy! I usually use 20 - 30lb main line, 50lb trace, with a snelled 6/0 for live bait or 4/0 and 6/0 for dead bait. Oh well, better luck next time mate! Cheers, Zac
  11. For a couple of months? Ive been trying for a year now and still not any Oh well, Very nice kingy too

  13. Thanks every one! I was on the jetty next to the iron cove brige on Drummoyne side. It was 70cm long dont know how much it weighed? With live bait i just get a big bucket chuck them in with some water and if i see one upside down and its still alive i change all the water and they say alive for ages. Yer i was using my snappa hemingway rod, there top rod!! Cheers, Zac
  14. I braved the rain today, to see what was around, incase it started to piss down i just went down the road instead of balmain. Any way fished for some podddies for about 30 min and got about 10 of them. Rigged up my jewies rod, put a poddie on, check my knot just incase, out she goes and hopefully into a jewies or big flattys mouth. Rigged up another two rods one for yakkas and one for what ever likes a pillie, a charter boat comes in and we have abit of a talk then another charter boat comes in, so i put the jewie rod up against the railing facing birkenhead point, so i think why not cast it in so i do a little lop and put the rod back down again close the bail arm and walk away as the people walk of i hear "Oi mate, you got one" I turn around and find ive got a fish one, a good one too! I set the hook and its a good fight, short power full runs, every one gets off the charter boat to get a better view, it takes my for a walk up and down the rock wall, the orperator of the charter gets of with a net to try and help me 10 mins later i had my very first kingfish!! Every one gives me a pat on the back and some say, " i payed so and so for this charter and you catch this type of fish LB" "That bigger than all the fish we caught together" I was soo happy, the charter operator measured it and killed it for me, why cant the world have more people like that! I pack up and headed home. It wouldnt fit in my bucket so i carryed it home every sencond car honked and tooted at me to say good work! One car even shouted " GOOD F***ING WORK, YOU F***ING YOUNG GUN"! That just made it even better. When got home i really wanted to show my mum, but she already left for work, so instead i walked up the road to the tackle shop, then my day got even better, they where all happy for me and congrationlatting (sorry cant spell) me. Got home bleed it, scaled it and gutted it, and to my surprise all i found it its stomach was either baby prawns or shrimp and there was 100's of them. Into the freezer she goes, im going to leave a note for mum and its going to say "there is something big in the freezer." Sorry about long post but im really excited and happy! Post pics up later Cheers, Zac

  24. I would say one spool of each, apparently if you use braid when beach fishing the sand can get into the weaves and stuff the braid up but i dont know if ths true or not?? Yer so one spool of each, i agree with cfw braid for sp's and hb's and i like to use mono for bait fishing exept blackfishing then ill use braid, but thats just another opinoin and it entirley up to you Hope this helps Cheers, Zac
