  1. Another way you can go is M7 to M4, Homebush Bay Dr, Victoria Rd and up through River Rd. Probably the shortest route. Different tolls to M5 route and more of a twisty drive. Edit, you can miss M7 and take Cumberland Hwy to M4 first up if you like as well. Might be alright on the weekend.
  2. Fab, for the time that you are travelling at I would go M5 and then over the bridge. You can get the M5 cash back as well.
  3. My Suzuki 60 I purchased about 5 years ago had a 5 year warranty but had to be serviced by a Suzuki dealer only. It was written in the terms and conditions.
  4. I could be wrong but from what I have read, you have to get your E-Tec serviced at an "authorised service centre" to keep the warranty. I'm not sure who that means exactly? What are their rates and charges on parts, oils etc to service an E-Tec?
  5. From the above example, it's clear they are offering the extended warranty because it works out better to have more warranty returns but they can make more with the extra services and have a better looking selling point at the same time. Let me guess, you can only get it serviced by them? I don't think the extra warranty has anything to do with how much more confident they are in their product. In the end, if you want your extra long warranty, you are actually paying extra to have it.
  6. You should use a Deep Cycle type battery. The sizes are rated in Ah. I recommend 100ah capacity or more.
  7. Good choice. I’m a metal bodied reel fan, even if they weigh slightly more.
  8. 100 bucks for new gears for both reels sounds reasonable. I would order them if it was me. You will have 2 smooth, “new” feeling reels that should stay that way for as long as a brand new reel.
  9. Order new gears from Shimano. You should get them in a few days.
  10. Also, the gears are shimmed to get the right clearances. You may have lost or misplaced them when taking apart the reels. That could cause the damage you described.
  11. You need a new gear set. You need to find the cause of the gears rubbing on the shaft before fitting the new set. From my experience, Stradics have soft gears and will gradually get grindy and worse with use. 9 times out of 10 it’s worn gears that cause the grinding.
  12. I dropped near $10,000 on a new Suzuki for an old 1978 Hull 6 years ago and glad I did. I knew I would be keeping the boat for a long time so for me it was worth it. It’s been an awesome engine. Buying new there is no risk, no searching and you get exactly what you want straight away. 2nd hand is cheaper (if you find a good one).
  13. Use the appropriate thickness for strength. Cut/ knotch out the ends to fit. Instead of bending for the curves, cut and weld at the correct angle.
  14. You should consider using C-Channel instead of tube steel. It can’t rust from inside and can be painted and completely sealed. Also, galvanising is not your only choice. My trailer has primer and an Enamel top coat. Sealed and no corrosion problems for years. You could just paint the repaired section and it will still outlast the trailer.
  15. Based on the cause, you should check/ replace the fuel filter and check the condition of the inside of the tank if you can. Might need to be cleaned.
  16. Locking the knob down tends to over squash the drag discs and grease out. Most decent reels these days have a rubber seal on top of the drag. No need to lock the knob down on them.
  17. Nice wild Bass there mate. Only one sentence and no punctuation for the whole report lol. Funny thing is you can understand it all just fine ?
  18. I check every hook before use to make sure it's sharp. If not I use a sharpening stone. Takes time but it's worth it. You get the best hook up's with a sharp hook point.
  19. It looks like it doesn’t have an overflow. If you took out the bungs the boat will fill with water.
  20. I have a similar boat and 55lb Minn Kota. A 55lb will be fine for general use, but if you want to hold in strong currents like on the Hawkesbury you will need the 80lb. The only issue in my opinion is that the whole point of the electric is to be quiet. When your using 80lbs of thrust to continually hold position it kind of defeats the purpose. I would rather anchor in a strong current.
  21. What fish do you want to target?
  22. You should be able to call Daiwa Australia and order over the phone. Otherwise, measure the bearings size and you can get them from a bearing store. Try to get rust resistant if possible.
  23. I always have squid together with Slimies and Yakkas and never have any issue with squid chewing or harming the fish.
  24. That's a nicely done fabrication there mate. One thing I can offer when mounting the Minn Kota is to level it with rubber washer packing on the 4 bolts. That way if the boat is level the shaft will be level. It will work most efficiently that way. You can't change it now, but another thing which makes it more efficient is mounting so the shaft is as close to the centre line of the boat as possible. Try pulling your boat from where you have the mount welded compared to the centre of the boat to get an idea of the extra effort needed.
  25. That is a very good size wild Bass. Nice picture too.
