    Live Bait Tank

I have the same setup but my pipe is just under the boat, the unit is much higher up. Still below waterline to pump with 12v , but no lower than the boats ribbing. Howard.
  3. http://www.fridge-and-solar.net/charge.htm HAVE A LOOK IN TECHNICAL INFO. Howard.
  4. To fish and chip shop there. We often tie up to the wharf and get a feed!!! Howard.
  5. NO ! I have posted many times on this, It is a disaster. It will throw loose coils and get massively tangled!!!!! Howard.
  6. Snelling takes Me hours. Salmon are great at jumping and throwing hooks, this is My answer ! Howard.
  7. Jewgafer is spot on, except he has a one track mind. JEW. Bream Whiting Flathead ect are my targets off the beach. So i use 18 lb line and no trace and Beachworms. If Salmon and tailer are on the menu, I use a 40 lb trace and ganged hooks with a pilchard. 650c5 Alvey and a snyderglas mt7144 L However my wife uses a 6kg Wilson Live Fibre rod and a Shimano 4500 Baitrunner, 14 lb fireline with a 20 lb trace. This is a beautiful outfit!!!!!! Howard.
  8. http://www.fishingcairns.com.au/page6-1.html Try this. I use a blood knot with 10 to 12 turns, more on 2kg less on 40 kg. I also lock it, when you put the line back through the centre, put it back through the loop you just created. Howard.
  9. Well done, Is that a Black Bream ??????????? Not the usual Yellowfin!!!!!!!!! Howard.

    Sounder Reviews

FCV-585: 8.4" Digital Colour Sounder FCV-585:8.4 Inch Digital Colour Sounder Click for a larger view The FCV-585 is an award winning dual frequency (50 kHz and 200 kHz) Colour LCD Sounder featuring Furuno's DSP technology. The FCV-585 displays underwater conditions in 8, 16 or 64 colors on a super-bright 8.4" LCD screen. You've probably heard about digital fish finders, but aren't quite sure what the difference is. The main difference is the filtering capabilities and auto adjustments. Our new FDF (Furuno Digital Filter) technology helps adjust gain, STC "Clutter" and output power, as well as suppress main bang (the echoes just below the transducer.) It also makes the picture clearer and easier to decipher. But even the best digital filter won't help unless you start with a solid basis, such as Furuno's renowned fish finder technology. The FCV-585's waterproof construction allows it to be installed on any bridge. Audio and visual alarms alert you whenever preset limits are met for water depth, water temperature and fish echoes. Selectable display modes include High or Low Frequency, Dual Frequency, Zoom, Nav Data, A-Scope, Marker Zoom, Bottom Zoom or Bottom-Lock. Furuno's TLL (Target Lat/Lon) output allows you to interface the FCV-585 with your Furuno chart plotter so you can mark any spot you desire and save it as a waypoint, enabling you to return to it whenever you desire. OK thats the word from Furuno, Whats it REALY like? Had a play with one today, have been using a Lowrance 125cdf for the past 2 years so i have what is regarded as a top sounder to compare it to. PRICE It is double the Lowrance at $2099 !!!!!!! What do I like ? Screen clarity is amazing, Lowrance show the bait balls, and if you look closely you can make out the predators, This Furuno has them jumping out and biting you!!!!! There is no clutter as with Lowrance, just a clear picture! And perfect arches from the big boys! The ease with which you can change between 50 and 200 hz,Dual Frequency, Zoom, Bottom Zoom or Bottom-Lock is great, just twist a well marked dial. The hi resolution 50 hz has an 11 degree angle and the 200 a 45 degree. The transducer I used today was angled forward too much and would not pick up the return signal at speed on the hi resolution but did work on the low res due to the greater beam angle easy fixed by removing the suggested wedge and mounting it flatter so the tranny is flat to the hull. I hope!!! Bottom-lock flattens out the bottom image in a swell so you don't have all the ups and downs on the screen, just a flat bottom, makes it easier to read. Dislikes, none yet, but the unit IS big ! This one was mounted next to the steering wheel, because it blocked out too much of your view if mounted on the top! Is it worth it? Probably, if you can justify the cost, It's BRILLIANT. There is so much more to this unit , I have only used the basics! Howard.
  11. Planed a trip last year to explore between Port and Crescent Head, but it fell through. It is certainly a beautiful area. Howard.
  12. He has it advertised elsewhere, find out where and for how much! Do a revs check on it ! 130 hours is very little on the motor. looks like a nice clean rig. Howard.
  13. Thanks, I needed a good laugh. Howard.
  14. Thanks Tumra and Roberta, There saying 1 to 5 m/m of rain each day over the weekend in both Sydney and Forster. That shouldn't be too bad! But windy at Forster so may be fishing the lake rather than the beach. Howard.
  15. Will be in Forster on Saturday to meet some friends, Have been told fish and chips is in order for lunch. Any one know where We can buy the best Forster has to offer? Roberta any suggestions? Howard.
  16. It's not how big they grow, it's how much PAIN they cause if you are spiked by one. When the severe pain doe's subside you are left in a state if euphoria. But I don't think it's worth it! Howard.

  20. I think I'm getting old, can't remember the spot we loved to fish. It was on the ocean side between Beecroft and the point, was it Devils Hole? We would park on the road to the point and walk in. It was very remote and VERY fishy!!!! Is it still fished or did the Navy close it? Howard.
  21. " i used to fish the tubes a lot in the 70s live baiting for kings and tuna" The days when a 6/1 Seascape ruled the world. Fished that area a few times, was just magical! Howard.
  22. A few years ago Alvey had made some beach rods with a bend in the tip to stop the line wrapping around it. Worked fine!!!!!!! Howard.
