    Boating Costs?

Bluecod, I'm looking at buying a new boat because my old one sits too low to the water with all the gear in it
  4. Crunchie, Thats bad!!!!!! Everyones nightmare!!!! "I also had one of the trailer safety / locking devices and they have somehow managed to get this off.'' Which one? I may need to change mine!!!!!!!!!!! Howard
  5. Have fished the lake a few times, a top spot scenery wise, but fishless for Me! Well done!
  6. Sounds great, where did you get it?
  7. A Great boat for what you want!!!!!!!!!! What outboard are you putting on it? There is so much floor space compared to your old one, you wont know yourself! Great stuff!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Howard!
  8. Keep asking mate, I have my eye on a 385 explorer with a 25 to go on a camper, can't go to the 385 edge tracker it's too wide and heavy. Have a limit of 100 kg and 1.8 wide. But it is a nice boat, looks very stable! Howard.
  9. We mainly fish with Beach Worms for Bream and Whiting, and Pilchards for Tailor. Barbara has a Wilson Live Fibre 10 1/2 foot 6 kg rod, Shimano 6500 Baitrunner, 14 lb Fireline and 15lb Vanish leader. Beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!! So sensitive! Casts a mile! Mine is the old 650 C5 Alvey, Butterworth 7144H and Platypus Super-100 15 lb line. This line is expensive for mono, but is very thin and supple, the best I have found! Tried Fireline, but threw too many loose coils, useless!!!!
  10. Used to make them out of broom handles, and steel cans for the bibs!

    Honda Dealer?

Hi All, Anyone know of a Honda dealer in Sydney? Just found out they make a 20 hp 4 stroke that weighs the same as the 25 2 stroke I was thinking about buying for a 385 explorer. About 50 kg. Wouldn't mind dropping 5 hp to get a 4 stroke! The boat is rated 15 to 25! Weight is important as I will be taking it on and off! Thanks, Howard.
  13. What a great day!!!!!!! Salt Water Fly is so much fun. I'm glad you enjoyed it! Howard.

    Alvey Reels

Had no trouble with cut fingers, even with 4 kg salmon, BUT it threw loose coils and was useless! MASSIVE tangles! Try and find some Platypus Super 100, got mine from North Rocks. Ultra fine diameter and casts a country mile! Howard!
  15. The gap between the spool and the casing is too large! use the nail polish! Had a seascape with the same problem years ago, works wonders, may take a few coats! Good thinking Joe!
  16. I'm jealous. A lot of crap going on around me at the moment and fishing is a long way off! Howard
  17. Knapers, the photo is a couple of years old now and the area has silted up a lot since then. It didn't came off the flats below Crosslands nor did a lot of just legal Flathead this summer, nor did the silver biddy in the lure records. I REPEAT THERE ARE NO FISH THERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Rebel crawfish in shrimp deep diving. You need a lure which will hit the bottom and stir up the sand. This lure in various sizes has been working for me over 25 years!
  18. I keep telling you all, THERE ARE NO FISH AT CROSSLANDS!!!!!!!!!!!!! 1.5 kg
  19. Good one Joe, you have worked hard for it! Howard.
  20. Burkley 1 inch nymphs, and 3 inch power hawg. I love them! Howard.
  21. Ken, Sounds like your having a lot of fun! Keep making us jealous! Howard.
  22. At least it was a bit cooler where you were! Beats working in the heat! and you had some fun! Howard.
  23. Bad luck mate, I hate it when you can feel the hooks slipping and there's nothing you can do! Howard.
  24. Half the fun is in getting ready! Then comes the sleepless night with anticipation! I dont get out that often,so when I do It's full on! I check and retie my knots, change leader weight if needed, adjust the drags, sharpen my knives. Then comes the boat! It can take a few hours! When I come home, only about 1/2 an hour! It's all good fun! Howard.
