Bubba - congratulations on some fantastic bream
. Obviously the harbour is fishing much better than the Georges R and Botany Bay. I fished Towra Point, Woolooware Bay and Georges R during the incoming tide on Sunday arvo / evening for one undersize bream and two undersized flatties
. I chucked everthing from SPs, blades and divers for nothin
.
Dont worry mate i found it hard in the same areas too that morning. i got 4 just legal bream a heap or little reddies and a few flounder but that was it and i know one of the boys from shimano that fished towra for just one whiting 43cm and he is a hell of alot better than i am thats for sure
Great work bubba i am really keen to fish the lane cove soon maybe try tackle a nice sized jewie as well
Did you fish the sholehaven comp and are you doin the hawkesbury one commin up? i might try make the weigh in for that

if its mored maybe just make a drop over one that you can disconect and put away after use?
just dont take off with it while it is in the water

Hey guys Me and a few mates are going to NZ for a ski trip early july and in the off time i think i might try wet a line also
We are staying 3 nights in christchurch and 5 at mt hutt and was goin to try out the local trout and maybe do some salt water fishing as well, maybe even a charter to chase some of the big reds out there
Anyways i was just wondering what gear we are aloud to and not aloud to take as i have heard that you cant either bring used line or bring back used line and alot of other things too like you can not use open plastics ect ect.
We will be spinning not fly if that helps but if anyone has experience with doing this or even some places to try out would be a great help
Well thanks for any help in advance

When i get a yak ill fish with ya every now and then! i could tow you behind the boat in the mean time

good suggestions!! keep them coming@!
im going to try drop shotting gulps
since its more subtle and more towards bait
i wonder if that works
i would still use jig heads
How light in the jig head are you going and what size leader?
i rarely go over 5lb leader and 3 gram heads and thats in up tp 10m of water
Pete

yeah deffently high vis for lure tossing especially when going light so you can see all the hits when the lure is droping
-
Any lure can not beat live Yabbie! But all the fish eat yabbie, so that is some noisy with lots of pickers.
defiantly not always theres bloke on here that will have 2 fish in the boat befor one nipper is even rigged up
Lol im not talking about myself
Pete
-
Remember nippers are a gun bait so i wouldnt be too worried if he out fished you on the day you might of just been a little off
I have been using berkley craws and ghost shrimp with good success recently which are sort of the same looking as nippers
Vibes in the deeper water are real good in winter and for me personally the 3 inch minnows are coming back on for me where over summer i had more success with jiging grubs hawgs and squidgy fish
Just keep changing it up and you will find something that works for you

Im not a huge fan of them but they worked well for my mate.
Saying that it depends on alot of things if they will work on a given day like any other blade really

gday guys. Just a quick report on friday night. Got on the water around 5pm started a thick burley trail. By 6 i hadnt even had a bite. Usually i would of picked up a few choppers but nothing. At about 7 i felt something chewing on my bait and swimming off with it so i free spooled for a good 10secs to let him swallow it. I then flicked the bail over then struck. The fish ran like crazy taking a good 50m of line then i gained some back and this went on for a good 20mins. In my head i thought jew. About 10m away from the boat up comes a huge ray
owell not my firsr decent jew ahaha. Then we stayed till about 1030 and caught nothing but eels and catfish. Hopefully next trip is more productive! Cheers bergo
i fished out there friday morning and 3 trawlers were working broken bay pretty hard so maybe you now know why the bites didnt come
atleast you got to go out lol

im looking at the pic right now lol

Could not agree more!!
We caught a couple of them and released them pretty much straight away. Unfortunately one of the boys learnt that they sting the hard way!
Between them and the toadfish we just couldn't win on sunday, not a great day out
lol they are a pain thats for sure
They dont seem to go for the soft plastics and vibes so i dont get any anymore
also im pretty sure its not a eel tail catfish i think the eel tails are more of a fresh water species
Pete
-
Probably my fave all time plastic.
However I do know that not one of the fish the boys caught was on a plastic.
They used suspending h/bodies & blades.
Cheers,
Grant.
Oh yeah the 3inch berklyes are my favorite too!
For blades down there the eco's are hard to beat just depends on what colour you use
not too sure on the Hb's never really fished them much
Pete
Oh sorry bubba back on topic...........

Talked to dad and were going to go down there for a few days soon, Gonna get some lures ready
Anything you would recommended mate?
Berkley 3inch minnows in watermellon pearl is all you the plastics you will need

Went out on the weekend to Wiseman's Ferry (lovely spot, felt like i was going back in time a little though!).
I know these are terrible photos but we were curious as to what these little buggers were..
All i know is that there sting is really painfull unfortunently i know from experiance
but i kept fishing for 3 hours after lol
And they are everywhere in the hawksbury system

Hi guys
Fished the Nepean friday arvo for a couple of house to try out some new things
Bass is one species that i have never done really good with and last time i went out with my brother inlaw he out fished me 7-1
and he started off in good fashion again landing this nice fish befor i even had the chance to rig up!
I finally got the hang of using spinner baits and we spent the next 1.5 hours catching a heap of smallish bass from 17-25cm which was great fun, last cast of the day and finally i have something to brag about! all of the other fish we have caught have been small or a fighted dirty and dug them self into weed so it was just like pulling a kicking snag in but this one had a few very strong runs and put up a great fight i was Amazed
Needless to say after that fish we hung around for about another half and pulled another 3 or so fish in each then called it quits
Sunday...
Convinced my old man to come out into the bay with me to try target some of the big bream that has been around towra recently. Normally the old man is keen to fish but the weather look threatening all day and we compromised by staying in woolooware so we were close to the ramp if things started to get nasty
We landed alot of just under flatties a fewe smaller bream to start off with then found a few in the shallower areas, we ended up keeping 3 flatties and one bream for a family feed and released maybe 2 or 3 flatties just on size (37cm)
The old man lost a nice flattie maybe low to mid 60's and i should of set him up on 8lb compaired to the 4lb i was using but i thought he would of got alot more hits on the lighter stuff which he did so he was not that worried in the end
Only spent around 3 or so hours out there and got soaked!
All fish caught on plastics as i left all my blades in my room the night befor
Oh guys if you like your berkleys try out the new ghost shrimp they work pretty well
Cheers

Squidgy fish in the pro range colours work well for me around that area for flatties and smaller wrigglers for whiting
