  1. Hey guys i fished the basin with a couple of mates over the weekend for some pretty good results.

I arrived waiting to meet up with my mates so i thought i would get a sneaky late arvo fish in befor the boys arrived :) it was pretty slow going but i landed a nice 65cm flattie which gave me alot of stick in 1.5m of water vh54kw.jpg

not bad for an hour fishing:

Sunday morning was still slow but managed a few more nice flatties and then boated this fish up around the islands

Everything started to get real slow and after a couple of location changes i hooked up to a just legal flattie, while i was bringing the fish in i seen a dark shadow behind it and befor i knew a HUGE flattie had wrapt its mouth around my fish! it would of easly been well over 90cm :1yikes: and my mate chucked his small plastic in to tempt the girl but she gave up on the smaller flattie and went away :ranting2:

After spending the next half an hour chucking the biggest plastics we could find :) i tied on and old trusty prawn vibe, i was sayin to my mate how i wanted to one day catch a black fish on lure and 5 min layer guess what? ab4dhd.jpg

    33cm

We had to finish up early in time to make it back to sydney for the saints game GO THE DRAGONS!!! heres the final tally for friday oqvifb.jpg

Not a bad trip down cant wait to go down again soon :)

  2. I get all mu big flatties on 4lb leader 1-4kg rods and small blades of plastics ment for bream! :biggrin2:

I personally would be using 6lb fireline (its breaking strain is well over 6lb) and say 8lb quality leader! That way you can still cast light weight big plastics over flats easyer.

Even tho you might loose the occasional fish you will be surprised how many more takers you will get! even big bream and whiting will take a 4inch plastic

All the rods mentioned will work well it all depends on what feels better for you

  3. Hey guys!

Now i know there is a boating section but thought its sole purpose of lure fishing that i might get a better response in this section :)

First off i would like the boat in the 4.5-5m range (give or take) prefer ally and is ok in some decent chop (Botany bay) but still stable when still and walking around.

Im a metal fabricator and im pretty handy with the ally tig so i was after just a hull and i would build casting decks, console, storage, live well, electric mount bracket ect ect myself

I have been looking into the stacer pro range, anglapro outlaw and know about ones like hornets but i was just after feed back from possible owners or people who have had a little experiance with these vessels

I was also looking into using around a 40-50hp Yamaha motor as im keen to have a go at comps in the future and maybe go out side chasing reds when the sea's are nice :biggrin2:

Any help would be great guys

  4. Looking very good

Are you going to match a rod for your dad?

For the moment he has a silstar 2-4kg plastics rod that i won at the start of the year which isnt a bad thing to be honest

But maybe a loomis for chrissy?

  5. Hey guys you think my old man should be happy with this thing?

    152yk9x.jpg

After finally convincing him to try plastics he loves it so now he can have some quality stuff and im not a rod and reel short when we go out :)

Ill load it up with 6lb for now and on the spare spool ill convince him to use 4lb for the lighter stuff

Sorry for the quality of the pic

  8. At the moment if you want to spin for bream and flatties the southern end is the way to go with warmer water temps

I got a nice feed for my nanna a month ago drifting and throwing plastics in around 6m of water off sandy beach 3 nice bream a legal reddie and a nice flattie around 50cm in just over an hours work is fun and really impressed her too :biggrin2:

Im defiantly her favorite grandchild at the moment thats for sure :074:

  9. hey guys, just a quick question before i head out fishing tonight, to try my new shimano tld 30 overhead :D sooo exited....anyways, just wondering where the best place to hook bonito and pike it if i want to livebait them, off the rocks arond jervis bay, because i've heard from some people around the spine, and other in the head....any advice is appreciated ta :1fishing1: !

In the back a little behind the head is prob the best place with a single hook. make sure you dont put it close to the spine other wise your live bait wont be live bait
